Please don’t bring back resilience. It took so long to push that trash out of the game. If the system as it is now is untenable then go back to how WoD did it. At least then PvP gear can be used in PvE.
The BfA system strongly favors players with PvE gear over those who do mostly PvP. So naturally, as a PvEer you would support that. You would probably be outraged by a system that required players who do PvE to get most of their gear from doing high level PvP.
Remove scaling and add MoP or WoD gearing pls.
WOTLK system.
WOTLK system was probably the epitome of PvP, where you could buy all the items you needed with Marks. Even as a PvEer you could become competitive cause you could buy entry-level gear with dungeon and raid marks. Bring back resilience, that way PvPers were rewarded for their gear, and it wasn't thaaat bad in PvE (maybe like 20% lower damage to similar gear score), if they wanted to go that route.
All they need to do is make the pvp items have higher itemlevel and have a greater variety of stats. What is absolutely a terrible idea is to bring back a pvp only stat that makes all your gear useless the moment you enter an arena. No thank you.
I remember in the old days it was impossible to enter PvP in the last patch of the expansion. You would do no damage and get annihilated instantly no matter what you did. And you had to suffer weeks and weeks through this, losing all the time along the way, to one day get an average gear to actually start playing normally. I played mostly PvP back then, but when I wanted to try a new character, I just couldn't normally. But what I liked about PvP was the vendor - that I could choose what I want to buy. And that there was virtually no chance that I get the same item twice, which would waste all my time. With the introduction of randomization, this got obliterated.I tried PvP in BFA after a lifetime of not doing any. I farmed a progress bar to acquire a random reward. Then when I was 95% done, I decided I was finished for a day. But the next day I logged in, the progress was reset to 0%, cause of course it would. I didn't know this happens, there was no warning. Never PvPed since. No reason to.Also I feel like Seeing Alterac, Wasong and Arathi for the 1,000,000th time is a bit grating.
the problem is pvers can farm a 15+dungeon 30 times for a full set of 465 items AND target the dungeons they do based on the loot tables and what they want, but we have to wait weeks for rng chests because we can’t target anything, and the gear that “randomly drops” in arena is like a piece every 20 wins and the ilvl is a joke. As it stands now this will be the same in shadowlands. Why even bother doing BGs? Honestly why even bother buying the conquest gear? No point at all, mythic dungeon gear is better and easier to farm and target
I like the idea of having PvP capped at a certain ilvl makes it way easier to balance and maintain the game fair it also makes it so PvE players don't get ahead with mythic gear. The problem is two sided I know PvP players focus on the PvP aspect of the game but consider the PvE scene, if gear was just as good it would be a huge advantage for guilds that did PvP so they need to consider both sides and sadly the PvP scene has been the one that has been suffered the most for this.Personally I would like to see gear divided into two tabs PvP & PvE gear where the PvP gear caps out just above the heroic level of PvE gear for PvE content, and the same for PvE that PvE gear caps out at a certain ilvl for PvP. Lets say 100/115/130 is the normal/hc/mythic. Make the PvP gear cap at 120 for PvE and the PvE gear cap at 120 for PvP.That would make both PvE/PvP gear viable for both things at the same time as you will get the best gear from your prefered content.
Corruptions are dominating the PvP scene currently, which is really sad and I'm afraid covenants might do that as well. So the best solution is to disable covenants for PvP, disable PvE gear for PvP (trinkets), bring back PvP gear with PvP stats. Make it about the skill of the player, not about what covenant they've picked or how geared from mythic raids they are, but that's just me...
All I know that 200 ilvl gloves with haste/crit should be the same no matter where you get them dungeon, arena, raid, Torghast, crafting, battleground. PvP probably needs more options for itemization but having some random gloves that for some reason work only in PvP sounds absurd to me. Gear is gear no matter where you get it. For me, about 80% of item pool should be shared between PvP and PvE, rest should be specific to type of content you do. Again its WoW not some tournament realm or MoBA where you just right click the gear you want.Another bad argument is people are "forced" to PvE to PvP or vice versa. You are playing WoW its all WoW and if you are pushing to 2100 or clearing +15s and heroic raid you don't need to step out of comfort zone and you can only do your "part" of game. But if you want to be the best, the very best there ever was, well buddy you have to do everything. This is where I agree with Ion, people who are most dedicated and excel in all facets of game should have advantage. Most people who think like this won't open this article or even less comment and it feels to me that echo chamber of PvP community is one of the strongest in WoW, up there with "hardcore" mythic raiders.
Man, I had the best gear from PVPing in WoD when it was still current xpac. I mean, I ended up dying much more than I'd have liked, but it was worth the time and effort to get a decent edge over the PVE enemies, hella fun with all that power!
This is exactly what Im talking about. Bring BACK MoP Pvp / Stats. PvP was an absolute blast back then!
because of gearing issues and the overall unbalanced nature of non-player power systems, i would say a PvP that has as little as possible to do with PvE would be a nice start blizz.
If we return to either template or resilience, PvP will be as dead as it was in Legion. Literally nobody played in Legion. And Resilience would hurt it even more as the PvE players who sidestep into PvP once in a while would not have the patience to regrind an entire set of gear to PvP with.Just %^&*ing balance trinkets and effects that come from PvE properly, so they are not busted as hell in PvP. This is the only thing that needs to be done. &*!@ resilience, PvP Power, PvP Templates and all that other garbage.
The whole scaling and removal of PvP gear was to make it easier to get into PvP.As someone who recently tried to bring a Mage (from ~Uldir Gear) to a Point where i can Rank up in Arena i can say they failed miserably.First of all i NEED Gear from PvE to do PvP, which of course i can easily farm in M+ (Claw, Shredder, etc excluded). However the Gear i need for PvP is still completely different from the Gear i need for PvE as Fire Mage. So i ended up farming PvE Gear to get in PvE Groups to farm PvP Gear. Which suuuuucked...And don't get me started on Azerite with good traits, which i could aquire through PvP, but only on Ranks which seemed impossible to get to as a non-geared Arena Noob
I enjoyed most types of content in wotlk. If you went tryhard you went resilience. But if you wanted to have fun running around as a wreckingball glasscanon, then you go all PVE. But never really gave PVP Power a shot. It didnt really feel good at least. One thing I know for sure is that PVP scaling needs to disappear. THE WHOLE POINT OF THIS GAME IS TO REACH THE TOP. And what fun can you do when/if you reach the top? You cant wreck the players still reaching for the top. Ruins the fun and the whole point is gone. I dont feel motivated to gear anymore, it isnt a factor to me. Its an MMORPG, you're supposed to struggle for a while and then overcome that.Too much focus on "everyone should be equal" and "balance" etc.. I get it for arena.... But the rest? Cmon...
go back to MoP OR to WoD, ggeasy as that :)
