It's just magic, end of story.....for a bunch of folks that play a fantasy game they seem to forget that a thing.
That note about the little things like bringing up Aethas' competitive nature to explain this silly game they added would help in bounds. It's not much to ask for, either. Just some extra dialogue that actually makes a lick of sense.
biggest nothing burger of this expansion
I think they tried to make the "class halls" that Legion players are still asking for but we will never have anything close to it again.
As mainly a Horde player, who grasps for any kind of important Lore regarding Tauren and Vulpera..the Arcantina feels like an afterthought.Especially they acted like its "this great Roleplay Hub"..yet its awfull to roleplay in there seriously, to small, you always get interrupted by people who don't care about it, and it doesn't make sense if you RP a character who isn't buddy buddy with everyone on the Alliance (for example my Vulpra Captain who still has a destain for every Kul Tiran..due to personal reasons).Blizzard doesn't sadly care about the Lore, the setting or their implications. It's kinda like Danusser never left and is whisper stuff in the writers..room
Like many time waster events in mid patch since DF.
Like some Reddit post a few days ago suggest, give the Arcantina a reason to hang out in.Make consumables not lose duration while in the Arcantina, so people use it to hang out there while they look for groups between keys or other activities.
The narrative never once says ANY of those people are 'over' anything. Aethas isn't over anything, he specifically says he ISN'T. Enemy nations in the real world have put aside differences from prior wars over and over, or England and France would still be at war because they fought back in medieval times. You don't need to be friendly with the people you're training with. You don't have to like them at all! You do it because you're told to, and you hate it the whole time. That's... often how being in the military works. Damn, Archimtiros got a real lack of media literacy in this post... shouting about HE JUST FORGAVE IT ALL AND HE'S OVER IT like he hasn't read a single quest or line of dialogue *in* the main story. Shameful lack of critical thinking, on this one, yikes.
"In the 9 years since their reunion in Legion, Arator still hasn't worked out his parental issues, but Aethas got over his decade long feud in a matter of weeks." -ExcellentYeah this is why I have a hard time reccomending WOW as a RPG , I can say its a great MMO game but the lore ehhhh well it can be hard to explain.
What about the fact that if the Arcantina was always there and accessible, why they don't use it to come back from the Out Lands and or contact the heroes of Azeroth?
y'all overthink this stuff so much. it's crazy. y'all need to get a life. it's the arcantina. nobody uses it or cares about it. it's worse than wow housing. it's completely pointless. move on already. nobody cares about the lore of this made up whatever.
i dont use arcantina what the point of the game?
I gave up on WoW lore making any sense whatsoever back in Vanilla. I haven't been bothered by any holes in narrative/logic/the feels/whatever since then. Doesn't stop me playing the game. Or even enjoying it.
Its so heavily sharded even on RP realms. Even if you wanted to hang out with other people on the server, you have to roll the dice to see if you are in one of the dozens of shards that actually have more than 3 people inside of it.
Very good article. It's been immensely offputting and downright depressing to watch the continuous downward slope of more and more banal stories of forgiveness, peace and reconciliation without even a quarter of the required effort for such storylines to feel natural and earned in the wake of generations of war and endless feuds.I love this game, but not the direction it's been going in with its characterizations and story since Shadowlands/Dragonflight.
The tone of WoW has been absolutely all over the place for a while now. Is this game supposed to be taken seriously, or is it all casual? You can't have both, Blizzard. It feels like the writers want the story to be silly most of the time, but have its serious moments. That really doesn't work when the TONE you set is so thoughtless. You guys want us to be engrossed in the story during the serious moments, but when you set the characters up to behave like absolute clowns, I literally cannot take them seriously or care when things go badly for them.Case and point: The Zaralek Caverns questline. So y'all spent 10.0.0 setting up Sabellion as the wise leader of the black dragons of Outland, an amazing leader whose decisions allowed the flight to survive. And of course, you assassinated Wrathion's character, Flanderizing him into a whiny brat who suddenly lost of all of his valor and carefulness that was built up for YEARS at this point. Then Zaralek comes along. Oh crap, we can't let Sabellion be the leader. #$%^, how do we assassinate his character! So during the campaign, Sabellion is injured by Fyrakk's shadowflame. You literally devoted an entire quest to him just screaming in pain while you gather the tools to mend him. Afterwards, Sabellion wants to fight back with Djaradin ballistas. He has you apprehend one.You literally get a dialogue line where you can ask: "Hey Sabellion, what if this ballista doesn't work on Fyrakk?" and he says "It will."OKAY BLIZZARD WRITING TEAM. So the careful leader of the black dragonflight suddenly lost all of his cool, literally all of his ability to make good decisions, just for this one quest where you assassinate his character and make him a bad pick for the Black Aspect. Two words: LAZY. WRITING.(ofc for people who don't know/remember, the ballista doesn't work at all)I'm only bringing this instance up because it still feels like we have the exact same writing team.
I've really enjoyed the arcantina, its been a nice lil whimsical thing which i think is one of the things WoW can do pretty well
I completely forgot the Arcantina existed at all until I saw a comment a couple days ago referencing the 'key to the arcantina' as an alternate hearthstone so you could set your actual hearthstone closer to ritual sites for all the back and forthing for questsAlso...Arator is FORTY? like, supposed to be grown up? coulda fooled me
