Are we sure it is plate though not mail? Because from his model in the encounter he looks like he's wearing mail armor and would fit the expansion theme/patch/lore to have those granted to evokers tbh not plate wearers.
This looks alot like a Evoker set or something like that ngl.
I dont dislike it but I'm not overly a fan of the gold. Kind of looks tacky. Also I hope they make them cosmetic gear usable by all classes. If anything these should be mail/evoker only because thematically it makes sense. But hopefully its just cosmetic

Honestly, it makes more sense as Plate rather than Mail considering that Deathwing has been largely linked to the Warrior class. Warriors got one of his shed scales as their Legendary Shield in Legion, and the shoulders and helmet themselves are very evocative of the Dragon Soul warrior tier set.
Looks gaudy to me but nice for the people that like it i suppose

This is just like the Archimonde stuff, I hate when they release those really cool items but then you can’t use them for transmog because it’s impossible to match them. Just drop the whole set!

wouldn't the spikes on those shoulders impale into its own wearer at a certain angle
"Trophy" drops should honestly all be cosmetic at this point.Pauldrons of Roaring Flame and Crown of Flame from Ragnaros are probably the most notable example of how silly it is, they're clearly a matching pair, but nobody is allowed to actually match them because one is plate and one is mail.
Not even resemble, those are the items that the custom Human model wears. Guess that explains why it's not a totally custom model.
