It's things like this are why they need to do stat squishes so often.

They really need to disable season 2 tier and not keep it. That is the MAJOR reason season 2 was so easy to gear and clear raid was being allowed to keep our season 1 tier gear

I'm glad they are bringing this back.The decreased ILVL per tier seemed fine on paper, but it felt like it did nothing helpful in reality. A slot that isnt max ilvl always feels like it might as well be empty (and is sometimes treated as such).Also insanely jarring switching toons between tiers, going back to an old main, and finding out that its like a week worth of gearing to effectively catch up in dps doesnt feel great. Like I grinded all this time and gear and it wasn't actually that much in the end.
Great change. It was too easy to gear in S2 and clear heroic raid. Crafted gear being 447 meant you only take trinkets and teir from vault which is not great at all. With a higher max ilvl, it makes everyone closer to a level playing field and makes things feel fresh while extending the gearing process. Just a reminder that this season, it was only 17s and higher granted updates over 426 or whatever it was, now even 10s are worth doing sort of for an ilvl upgrade, even if you got to farm it later from 17s meaning m+ gear is more rewarding early season.
I'm all for a higher power curve. With all the squishes and the conservative power increases, it's absurd that it feels easier and less punishing to pop into a Heroic run of the current raid than it is to solo some content from 5-6 years ago. Like come on, we should be able to one-shot that stuff without having to form groups for it that nobody wants to do. Power levels shouldn't only be considered relative to the individual patches within the expansion, our power should also be weighed against previous expansions (and so far it's been too squished in my opinion).

Good/warranted change. Item upgrade system added this season means playerbase ilvl is overall higher than would normally be, since items dropping in normal raid/lower M+s eventually end up at heroic raid ilvl. Extrapolate further for mythic raid ilvl not just from m+ but crafted also.Higher ilvl gap means 90% of the playerbase won't already be fully normal-raid geared and actually have a reason to do normal raid. Skipping that tier entirely would cut out so much of the season's content.
Oh crap, and I was getting excited about this patch...This was always the worst part of every first Season of each expansion, the fact that you need to farm Normal, then Heroic, then Mythic, when in the second Season things are quicker, jumping straight to Heroic...Oh man, this is gonna suck, toxicity will increase dramatically since most players don't understand this dynamic.=(
Guess they're not even trying to avoid a stat squish. Hopefully they either have a very good and detailed explanation for this (yeah right lmao) or its just some testing nonsense and won't come in final release.
And let me guess... They gonna nerf healers again and the start of S3 will be a nightmare for them.Great!
