Samsung used to do the same thing with their phones. Over-saturation gets old, very fast. One of the major criticisms of Diablo 3 was this overly done color palette. Diablo 4 is weird and I'll agree with others that it looks kind of bleak or washed out compared to D3, but imo the graphics are just 100X times better then what we saw in diablo 3.
