I appreciate this Gift Horse, I really do, thank you.But I still gotta check it's mouth out...

I don't think undercutting is even touched by this change... however having to use addons to manage the "single stack" posting will be history. And for that reason alone, I welcome this change. It has been a stain on the game that people could post stacks of 1 just to abuse other players due to the interface. Good to see that going away. And I am also happy that managing stack sizes in general goes away. Just because I didn't want to have to manage 20 of this or 30 of that depending on what the quest was for the day. Now I can just post my stash and peeps can by in the stack size they want. That's great. If they want to address undercutting then they need a system where - if you want to go cheaper, you must do a minimum of 15% cheaper per item. That will settle it out pretty fast.
Still no Buy Orders. Any AH system without Buy Orders heavily favors botting.
What could stop undercutting would be add an option to request items from auction just as in Guild Wars 2. So there would be a list of people selling for X and a list of people who want to buy that for Y. That way price would be pushed from both sides, not just down and instead of big undercutting, you could just instantly sell the item to highest request.
I dont like these AH changes so no thanx for me. Last time I have checked this was a free market so I will stick to my undercutting skills.
For many people, Last In First Out is already how it works - Auctioneer or similar auto under-cuts by a tiny amount that has no tangible effect on the value of the auction, just to push it to show first on the list sorted by price - this change seems weird, but 1c undercuts are very common - cancel and relist a few copper lower (on items with non-significant listing fees anyway) to re-undercut are also somewhat common, so the fact that continues is not new, so in theory while it seems weird, it works just the same as now but without clunky 1c undercuts.
So... it's using a LIFO system then ? well ok but it's still weird to do it like that :/
When Ion H announced this was happening back around 8.0/.1, he said the old code was the one thing restricting server size. One would think, then, that server recombines are on the way (they can give last names like SWTOR to avoid name clashes or something similar, perhaps) to get rid of the Draenor-EchoIsles and Garrosh-style "just way too small" servers they are trying so hard to avoid winding up with implementing Classic. If that were the case, they may not be concerned with this redo about small-server issues.
I will make less gold because of this :PRight now I can post a stack of 20, 100, 200 or something like that and set the buyout price higher than all the stacks with odd numbers and still sell my stacks. Now I have to compete with the people putting up whatever quantity they have because they don't really care about the gold they're making, they just want their stuff sold asap :/I really hope Blizzard will be lowering the deposit cost for posting old world mats to the old prices that they had before Blizzard tried to battling the single quantity bloating at the start of BfA.
GW2 and FF have been doing this for years. A far-overdue (but welcome) change.
They need to implement the GW2 way of doing things, to allow immediate sales to already established bids. That's what is needed, not this band aid at best.
Too little too late. Not resubbing for this, despite the fact literally every person who has ever used the AH has wanted a change to the default UI and functionality for years.
Huge improvements on commodities and purchasing. Favorites is particularly useful. Largely obviates the need for Auctionator. It doesn't have the appraisal UI of Auctioneer though, which allows you to post all your stuff quickly, so I'll still be using an addon for that.
There's one KEY point missing from this article BUT was in the content preview video: "If you've listed a stack and only part of it is sold, you will get the gold what's sold and the remainder BACK in the mail to you." So they saying that you don't need to worry about stack sizes are only half true and only applies to buyers, because if you put up items in full stack of 200 and they only partially buy them like 10 than you have to relist non stop or you have to set really small stack sizes and relisting fees going to eat away your profit. I understand the AH needed some changes but i would only have gone with performance tweaks or make it like in some addons like tsm where it groups all the 1s into 1 row (with same price) and show there's like 500x1. Also neat stacks almost always sells better and from a seller perspective you can buy all the 1s and make it into 50,100,200 stacks and put it up for a little more money (sometimes even +20%).So their new method is kinda removed imho and ruins things. Also if they introduce this new system than at least cut the ah fees down (that they introduced with the expansion to discourage ppl adding 500x1 stacks for certain mats) or remove them completely when relisting (not talking about their "cut" when you sell the item, but the listing fee)
