One of the 5.2 new world boss, along with Nalak, the Storm Lord.

This boss is supposed to be the "hard to get" one, like Salyis's Warband.
Edit: Apparently Blizzard has changed their stance on this matter, and Oondasta is now much more easily available than Galleon used to be before 5.2.

Oony HP has been reduced!
*
Originally Oondasta was designed to be the ultra hard world boss (removed blue posts on the matter to conserve space but there are two blue posts which clearly outline blizz's intent on making this boss hard), however Oony has had a bit of a tinker with and his health pool has gone from 800mil(ish) to 400mil(ish) which is a huge chunk. Before the 'fix' (I wouldn't really call it a nerf nerf because it looks to be done to stop breaking the game, not that players couldn't do it) you needed half your realm to bring the mighty beast down, now a well organised raid team can be successful. From personal experience on both high pop and low pop realm I can see why they did it.... the high pop realm everyone crashed out because both factions were there in their hundreds, on the low pop realm we just didn't have the numbers, even via CRZ, so we sadly lit a candle and watched him despawn at resets. Having the health pool reduced simply means less people required now.
*5.3 will see more changes. Shiny Pile of Refuse can contain a Primal Egg and Dinosaur Bones. Spitfire Beam no longer increases damage with each jump (deals a flat 200,000 damage (up from 150,000 damage), and jumps to 99 targets (up from 20 targets).*
My experience with Oondasta PTR 5.2 / before HP adjustment
Oondasta owned us, it was like the new reckoning, so messy. As Bashiok mentioned your group needs to be heroic-raid tight, work well together & players need to know their rolls perfectly (which will be interesting for LFGs.) Just FYI we had two raid groups attacking, one full and one partially full, on average the ilvl was high 480s, our tanks were over ilvl500 and same with healers. There was 62 of us and it wasn't enough. Majority were t14 geared, some not. Two full t15 raid groups with players doing 300k+ dps will make him go down faster, and you want faster because of
渐燃之怒
There is no words, he just dominated us, melted our tanks, cleaved our DPS and left our poor healers in re-hab. You'll need vent and a decent strategic approach that everyone is on board with to get him.
EDIT:
Congrats to everyone who is posting their kills! From reading everything it seems a great idea to:
-
bring a shiza load of people
It is possible for one geared group to do this but 2 groups make it less painful for healers/tanks. I've done it in both but in 2 grp I never died and it was a fast kill.
- pull him to the graveyard first, pull him over the cliff face.
- type /range 10 for the beam and keep the hells away from each other.
- healers spread out and everyone else, other then tanks, should watch their range.
- a few tank healers are helpful because beam will hit the cluster so extra tank heals eases the pressure.
Congrats again!
Some things about Oondasta:
- Faction tag
- Normally it's not a issue but found I had to turn graphics low because of lag... anything that helps right? (might not be a issue now)
- Make note of the 8min(ish) respawn of dinomancers/dinosaurs. If you clear the mobs around him then wait to get ready you'll find 9+ mobs respawning on you even before the main fight begins. Definitely assign some DPS to handle respawns.
- If you're going to kill at the mud pits, watch the positioning of the group as AoEs do run the high risk of aggroing ALL the primal dinosaurs that are very close to him. You have no choice about the dinomancers because they do need to be killed but the primal dinosaurs are all around the perimeter of the mud pits and it is easy to cause a aggro chain reaction.
- /range 10 ... /range 10.... /range 10. "tanks turn him away because the frill blast is always wiping us" you got to worry about the beam as well, if you're not /range 10 and keeping away from others you're like a bomb and wiping the group as well. The tanks have a hard enough time to get aggro due to him not being taunt-able so please do your part as well. As a rule healers so be marked and stand their ground (spread out) and it's up to the DPS to watch their range.
- Because of
焰甲冲击
he needs to be facing away from the group, not a easy task at times for a non taunt-able boss. If doing the graveyard pull tanks should cluster together on the beach and face him towards the ocean. Tanks when rezzed don't hit oony until you're back on your mark otherwise you might have a entertaining, but painful, kite on your hands.
- It's without saying healers need to watch out for
穿刺咆哮
10sec is brutal. All players need to have their pots, bandages, racials (space goats) ready for the worst.
- Because of
盛气凌人
this boss can not be taunted and with
重压
it requires more then one tank. Our tanks found it easiest to cluster and as soon as one had
重压
they would simple stop attacking to drop aggro while the others kept attacking to grab aggro. It was also helpful when the tank, who was going to dump aggro, /RW they were dropping aggro because it allowed the rest of us to cast filler spells instead of power shots until a new tank had picked Oondasta up. This needs to be a fast process because we wiped often on
焰甲冲击
and if a new tank hasn't built up enough aggro Oondasta would face back to the group (that's why we found casting filler spells helpful because it didn't grab aggro off the tanks.)
- "helpful people" I.E those who aren't in the raid but what to fight him. Please, if your faction is fighting him, please join the raid group. You think you're helping but we wiped a few times when a 'helping' player got hit with
灵火光束
and just stood there waiting to get healed. In the case all raid groups are full and you are the only player outside of it please observe where everyone is standing and doing, just don't go in guns a blazin' expecting to get healed etc because healers won't be able to see you on their grids etc.
- If you can keep two tanks alive and no one beam bombs the heals this is a fairly fast fight now.
Other info on Oondasta other then his far superior pwnage
Other then that his spawn rate is low, since being on PTR I've only seen him spawn twice in all the weeks I've been farming on Isle of Giants and once it was a deliberate 'test' spawn I'll update any info on his spawner that I can once live hits. If PTR will mirror live Sha spawns often > Galleon does have a increased spawner > Oondasta is rare (more then Galleon 5.1.)
To get to him you need to get to Isle of Giants which is direct North of Zouchin Village. Isle of giants is a no fly zone and is mob heavy. Oondasta spawns on the mud pits which is in the centre of the island but it is up on ridge so you will need to access it either from the left or right, both options forces you to face off with teams of elite 90-91 dinosaurs and dinomancers. Those who have stealth can easily get to the centre without pulling, everyone else will pull. This island is so similar to the old school style outdoor raids that used to exist, everything is elite and in large packs with large hit boxes. It will not be a simple journey to Oondasta.
Fun thing to do:
- If you survive the trip, half way to the mud pits are faction 'base camps' (alliance on the left, horde right) and you can purchase a fun item
完整的恐角龙皮
which is just hilarious in large numbers.
Good luck!

On the severe off-chance you get to own him by sheer numbers, like say over 120, consider putting all settings, including sound, screen size, and graphics to very low (unless you of course have a high-end computer/card), or you will likely lag out, along with many others, and be owned anyway from how many times it is possible for a person to be that idiot that wipes the raid.
So this WILL be like LFR to at least some extent, simply because you need way more than 40 raid members (unless of course they truly are elite level and super organized). Many guilds rarely have enough of these types of members online at any one time within the week (and he spawns
very rarely
Edit:
around 2 hours
thanks to a minor patch
so you can't prepare for him before hand
), so you almost need to set up an inter-guild event (unless you want to rely on worldboss chat without any vent, and wipe like crazy), dedicated just to this guy. The fight must be almost flawless, otherwise you'll be in a mountain of skeletons and repair bills. Of course there will be disagreements among various leaders, confusion among the less experienced, various mistakes that add up, and worse, faction-fighting, pvp flag griefers (which IS reportable on PvE realms), and who knows what else sorta drama.
And although it should be known by now, for world bosses, I'll restate it again to be sure. IF YOU DIE, DO NOT RELEASE YOUR SPIRIT IF OONDASTA IS NEARLY DEAD. If you do, and have to run back to your corpse, you will not get the loot if he killed in that time! Nothing is worse than spawn camping all week, organizing all that time between guilds, keeping up the pvp griefers at bay, and finally beating the other faction to the punch, put up one hell of a fight with this boss, only to not get the loot while everyone else does.
Edit2: Seems the glitch is fixed, go ahead and run back if you died.
Edit3: He got hit by a huge 50%hp nerf, so that Bliz doesn't have to handle server crashes. In other words, its possible to just zerg him with about 80 players, but not without a very high fatal body count.

We've downed her today on EU-Burning Legion. Took like 100-140 ppl to do that being constantly trolled by ninja pulls causing in a few wipes from her frontal-1-milion-attack but then she went down smoothly on 1~2 FPS. IMHO it's currently hardly possible to down her with less than 80 ppl. As her enrage stacked a bit she was 2-shotting with roar everyone and damage from laser is still noticeable as its hard to convince 100 ppl to type /range 10.

I arrived at the boss when he was already on 3%... I attacked for about 2 seconds and then got 1 shotted by something named Spitfire beam. Hit me for 390k and 270k overkill.... I got the tag and loot despite not being in the raid as is normal now (gold and gold).

Just killed Oondasta a few minutes ago on Bonechewer. It took about 4x 40-man raid groups 6 tries to take him down with massive amounts of casualties in the process.
DO NOT STAND IN FRONT OF HIM!
His arc extends 90 degrees to each side. He hits extremely hard and will pwn you in no time. Make sure
ONLY TANKS
are in that frontal arc. Everyone else must be behind him. It is also a good idea to keep a 10 yard range from all other raiders around you.
It is a good idea to clear all of the devilsaur mobs in the area before attempting.
Also, a good idea to make sure no opposing faction members are trolling the pull. We had a druid that would stealth pull him into us and make us wipe.
I was very happy to get
高危恐龙项链
off him, though.

On Firetree-US we basically had 80 people zerg rush him. The tanks would keep him pointed away from the raid and when they had "Crush" they stopped attacking and had the other tank grab aggro. Many people died in both raids, but when those people run back while still fighting Oondasta, resurrect and mass rez your raid that is dead (Saves much time and keeps the dps flowing). In the end, only 10ish people were alive when we downed him a few minutes ago. He isn't as hard as you think. We did this on a first attempt just reading the post from Ozlem.

Spawned on US-Stormrage for the first time today, and zerged down within minutes by a large group of players, the size of which is hard to estimate, but probably around 100. The first two raid groups killed him before the third group could arrive on the island to tag him. The zerg left many skeletons behind, but it seems to have succeeded in first try.
Lag was the worst part of it - on arriving to the island while the kill was in progress, it took about 10 seconds for the server to react to any ability.

One strategy is to pull him down near the graveyard to negate the long ghost run. He has a fairly long leash, so despawning wouldn't be a problem here.
Edit: As of 5.3 The graveyard has moved to the top of the cliff. There's also a nifty new path leading straight up.

He has about a 1-2 hour cd now ( varies a little)
History:
He USED to work like galleon pre 5.2, 48 hour no spawn cd with 48 hour spawn window. Followed by a slight nerf to a 24 hour spawn cd and 24 hour spawn window.
https://www.wowhead.com/mop-classic/npc=62346#comments:id=1751063
EDIT: They appear have lowered cd some to compensate for the frequent patches and restarts. His no spawn window is probably about 24 hours now, but regular spawn window still 48.
EDIT2: They have lowered CD again, this time to only 2 hours.

Just downed on Aman'Thul Alliance.
Some useful information for you:
1. Although not stated by his dungeon journal he DOES have a trash drop (28 gold and 1 silver). Prepare for tears. I have a strange feeling this may be removed so he gives definite loot because honestly, he's ridiculously difficult to reward you with 28 gold. It won't even cover your repair bills.
2. HE CAN BE KITED TO THE GRAVEYARD.
In fact he can be kited pretty far, we even took him for a swim at one point, which was a barrel of laughs. I highly recommend you get a tank and a healer to pull him to your raid group which should be waiting at the graveyard. It saves you dealing with adds (there's a couple that will still annoy you but no where near as many) and the 1min+ GY run. Quick edit: Just thought I'd elaborate on this, you don't need to go kiting him around the path you use to get to him, just tag him and jump off the cliff to the graveyard (basically the shore south of his spawn location). Like all NPCs worth their salt, he defies gravity and just walks right down the cliff. This is pretty much vital to killing him in these early release weeks.
3. /range 10 is your best friend. His hitbox is HUGE. In several groups of 40 I was able to stay out of everyone's way and not get hit by spitfire beam (except one time I was the last in the chain. 150M hit hurts).
4. Seems to be a weird glitch that causes his name to appear grey at first as if he were tapped by the opposing faction. However, after dying the issue resolved itself and others have confirmed that it went away without death some ways through the fight.
5. Tanks cannot taunt. Tanks suffering the armour debuff need to CEASE ALL DPS to lose threat. This is VITAL. It caused many wipes getting this down pat.
6. Zerging is good up to a cap. However at a certain point it's such a cluster that his spiritfire beam is a guaranteed chain that will end the lives of about 15 people (given that the first few jumps are non-fatal) and obviously you want to avoid this. Anything more than 4 raid groups full and you're starting to get the double edge of the blade.
7. Only one tank needs to be in front at any point in time. The tanks should be rotated. If you've got more than 1 raid group of 40, which you likely will, it's best to have all the tanks and dedicated tank healers in the same group.
8. If you're ressing from the graveyard, be patient, wait for him to do his aoe scream thing, then respawn. Otherwise you're going to spawn and get instapwned by it and nobody likes that.
9. Some people disconnected when we downed him, and logged back in to find they had the achievement but no loot. So definitely set your graphics to minimum if you don't feel your computer will cope with it. It's not meant to be a pretty fight. To be honest, it's quite messy.
That's about all I have to say for the moment except GOOD LUCK :) In spite of hours of wiping and costly repair bills I still had loads of fun taking this guy out. I will update with more information if I think of it or if someone has something to add.

It took over 4 full raid groups to do this boss and is painful.
Be aware when doing this boss its a long run back from the graveyard so self healing will help.
The opposite faction will spend the whole time trying to get everyone flagged.

Made an account to repost what Digerati posted on the official forums that I found very useful:
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/8197649846
-Lootable via CRZ
-Cannot be looted more than once a week on the same character, even with CRZ
-CRZ majority rules still apply, the most players need to be from the host server or it'll phase you off, so space is usually limited on low pops
-His spawn timer is currently undetermined, but it seems he has a long no spawn window followed by a spawn window, if you want to do Oondasta on alts you'll need CRZ with likely 1 spawn a week on most servers
-Some servers have killed it by dragging him to the GY. Others have claimed he can reset if you do this. Unconfirmed on what causes him to reset or if there's been any sort of hotfix.
-He's very difficult for raids of less than 80 pug players
-If you attack him with 150 or more players, he'll probably lag out and not do most of his abilities and just fall over
-It's very possible to get no loot if you're running back. Sometimes you'll get loot in your mailbox, but not always.
-The "fail sack" can have blood spirits in it. The name of the sack is Shiny Pile of Refuse

We just killed him on Kirin Tor, with extra raid groups from Kel Thuzad and Cenarion Circle. Required about 4 raids.
After a few hours of failed attempts, we kited him down the cliff next to the graveyard to minimise the corpse run time, and this made the difference. We took him out first go down on the beach.

We just did the Realm First Kill on Drak'thul US by the alliance 3 hours ago, and we had 4 total groups and 2 full groups from Stormrage US assisting us as well. It is an EXTREMELY intense fight and truly feels like a WORLD Boss, because it's such a colossal and godly powerful entity that it takes more or less the entire world to take it out. We watched in awe as the top and largest horde guild on our server got decimated by it in a mere 30 seconds. When we finally had our army of over 160 alliance toons, it took us 3 actual attempts to bring the mighty beast down, with Oondasta gaining around 250% damage increased on our successful attempt, with barely anyone alive by the end of it. It's a truly jaw dropping and awe inspiring boss experience you only find in the hardest heroic bosses of a tier, and it is absolutely extraordinary in the amount of teamwork, comraderie, and fun that takes place while trying to bring down this Titan of a raid boss. Have fun trying to kill him, he's worth every graveyard run back to his lazer firing frill. T^T
(P.S. We didn't know about or use the kiting to the graveyard strat, so difficulty may vary when using that strat. XD)

Follow these few tips to help you with Oondasta. He can one shot everything btw. Unless your a tank (try to) NEVER STAY INFRONT OF HIM, he has about 2 skills that will one shot. Another, try to stay about 10 ft away from others or the damage stacks up on both of you. AS SOON AS YOU PULL HIM KITE HIM DOWN TO THE GRAVEYARD AT THE BOTTOM OF THE CLIFF. This is very crucial for respawning. This took us 2 trys but we got it, just keep on respawning and make sure to communicate. Keep trying, the horde on our realm actually wouldve gotten realm first kill, but they gave up, we kept on trying and got realm first.
Group creation:
What we did was we had 3 raid groups and talked though general chat. 3 groups of 40 should do it, make sure to have the appropiate heals, tanks, and dps (need 9 tanks bc they die so quickly) If you are Herioc geared i suggest you get Raid geared before you do this boss.
Disclaimer:
BTW YOU MAY JUST GET MONEY LIKE I DID. It sucks to do that much for money, but its like Galleon used to be.

There is currently a glitch with the loot system. I was in a full raid group, (we had about 3 or 4 full groups total) and it was our tag, the name was red to me, and same with everyone else in the group, and the boss died. It was all our first time. We all got the achievement, 2 of my guildies got a 522 epic, I however did not receive anything. Not even the "bag" for gold. I opened a ticket explaining what happened, and the GM said they looked into the kill. They were not able to find loot, but they did send me the "bag" of gold through the mail. So if you get neither loot nor gold, open a ticket!

Just downed him on Garona-US (Alliance) with two 40-man groups. One group was only DPS and heals and the other had all the tanks, the other half of the healers and some DPS. That way, all the tanks could coordinate. We pulled Oondasta down to the shore near the graveyard and had him face the water so we didn't have to move after releasing.
Tank coordination is crucial if you don't want him to fire
焰甲冲击
on the raid. Also, I don't think having more than 80 people helps much because then there's no room to spread out and he kills everyone with
灵火光束
.

Killed it last night with three 40 man raids and a lot of ungrouped people running around. The biggest challenge was to get everyone to spread out and to get healers in range of tanks to heal them, it is quite hard to do because of all the dpsers trying to hug the boss despite the huge hitbox and not letting healers get close.
As many other posters said, /range 10 is extremely important..
We however killed him on the spawn spot, tried kiting to the graveyard but after a few attempts there changed our tactics again. On the beach there is much less area to spread out properly, plus, if people die, ressurection timer goes up to two minutes and running up to spawn from the graveyard takes about the same time too. Therefore the raid has no benefit whatsoever from pulling him to the beach.

Try dragging him towards the corner that the mountains and the cliff makes and have the tanks face him that way. This is to ensure people don't get killed by
Frill Blast
. This also makes it so you don't pull adds during the course of the fight. Make sure the tanks are ready to switch if they get agro. This boss is
NOT
tauntable
.
We did this on our server, Shadowmoon, and was able to kill him yesterday (3/9/13). It took us several hours (and several wipes) but we did it!
A side note:
In the begging there were a lot of people there, but it seams easier with
less
people. We figured this because it was easier to avoid
Spiritfire Beam
when there was less people to run in to. However, too little people wouldn't be good either because of the stacking buff,
Growing Fury
.
Hope this helps :]

Took 4 groups of 40 and someone else was recruiting the 5th one so all together I would say right around 200 people to kill him today on Nazgrel Alliance side! It was 2 pulls after we got the 4th group over there. I am pretty sure we were the first on the Realm to do so. Due to some confusion the resurrection timer had not went away yet... so we killed even with a 2 min wait in between resurrections .

Managed to get it today on Kilrogg after several hours and wipes - took four full raid groups and one half full. Ended up keeping everyone in the big field right near the flight master, and more importantly, near the graveyard! If the tank pulls aggro and jumps off the cliff, Oondasta will just sort of slide/jump down as well. Tanks pulled him to the ocean. Proximity to the graveyard was what made this work, because the last 20% or so were a definitely a glorified graveyard zerg.
You do end up with Triceratops adds, but they were pretty easy to plow down with 120 or so people DPSing them.
Also - hardest part? Convincing 4 raid groups worth of people NOT to start DPSing until the boss was in place.

Just attempted Oondasta with a 260+ person raid on Winterhoof-US; world server crashed at 30%.
So, yeah, bring too many people and you risk a server crash. Together with potential consequences from Blizzard.
Oh, right, and if you crash the server, Oondasta despawns and doesn't come back.

You need to stay spread out for chain lightning. Of course, with 200 people, it can be tough to make sure you have nobody within 10 yards of you. In that case,
it's fine to be standing right on top of 1-2 other people
. Just make sure that
none of you is within 10 yards of anyone else
. If chain lightning hits one of you it will jump to the other 1-2 people you're stacked with and then stop, without killing anyone.
You can also handle tank swaps with a warlock's Demonic Portal. Once the active tank gets debuffed, have the person second on threat step in front of the dinosaur, and have the active tank take a portal. Threat wipe, dinosaur has new tank, no turning around to destroy the raid.

We downed him this morning on rexxar, 4 full groups and a partial 5th. Wasnt a relm first as the horde had already done it however. We had a few tanks, healers and range pull him down the cliff.. trying to get him to the beach after adds got cleaned up. However with that many people some didnt stick with the plan and started dpsing befor getting the boss into his spot, he was about halfway between cliff and the beach. He seamed to always turn as his blast went off taking out 100 of us a blow. but managed to down him in time. I got 2 rolls of gold.. just my luck.
Will say that it seamed easier with less people; earlier we had tried with a much smaller group, around 25. We got him down to around 740m after the 2nd wipe, before the tanks messed up, got dead, and people gave up (was making progress why give up?). As for the large group that we came back with, (1 full raid, and a additional one after each wipe) didnt even get it below 800m untill the 4th or 5th wipe.

Please do not be so pathetic when it comes to this boss, it is terrible to watch you people failing at very simple stuff. Strategy to this boss is more then simple. Taking more then 40 average people will actually make it lot harder for you then you think.
A) DO NOT PULL BOSS DOWN TO THE BEACH, no reason to. If you execute things correctly, no one will die.
B) Type /range 10 if you are using DBM or make sure that you are not near anyone else, because otherwise Spiritfire Beam will kill 17-20 people every 15sec I believe.
C) DO NOT STAND in front of the boss unless you are current tank, else you get raped by the Frill ability.
D) If you are a tank, save defensive CDs for Frill. ONE CD PER FRILL with at least 20% reduction should be enough, assuming that you do have some of 600k HPand some heals going on you, absorbs and so forth will add up. This should work relatively easy until boss gets up to 10 stacks of the damage buff.
E) You should swap tanking after each CRUSH. I am not 100% positive on its cooldown, however, I believe that rotating 2 tanks should be enough. When Oondasta makes the crash on the current target, she is immune to taunt, but anyone who is in tank spec, will get 500% threat increase. Therefor, current tank should stop using threat abilities and the other tank should use whatever threat bursts he has available.
F) Lastly, if you are a caster, then STOP your casting when Oondasta starts to cast Piercing Roar, unless you like being interrupted for 10 seconds.
If you bring tons of people, you will have trouble spreading out, making most of the raid being one shot by the Spirit fire beam and some people will have quiet some chance for not being entitled for the loot. So, do not be stupid please, it is really pain in ass.

HI,
We killed Oondasta on Darkmoon Faire on Saturday evening with almost 5 full raid groups. We had the raid leaders of each group on vent coordinating a strategy. What we did was set up the 5 raid groups around the swamp and then group 1 started, group 2 ran in when 1 was down to approx. 50% of members alive, then group 3 etc. etc.
We tried to get the dead from each raid group to ress together at their starting point. It took 3 tries to down him and the actual kill took about 4 minutes.
Hope this helps anyone else and the fight was epic, definitely a world boss feeling.

Killed this boss for the first time on Bloodscalp on Saturday. I'd have to say, this has been the most fun I've had in a very long time(probably since the opening of the AQ Gates back in the day or the Dark Portal opening) doing WORLD PVP and PVE content. Both Horde(my faction) and Alliance were gathered to the western and eastern sides of the spawn point. However, like I've seen in other world encounters, the two factions didn't take turns on kill attempts. We had about 4 full raid groups, and the Alliance had about 1. Needless to say, once they figured out they could steal the faction tag and kite the boss to our raid groups and wipe us, that is where the PVP started and we all totally forgot about the boss. about 3 hours later and after about 250g in repairs, we finally killed this boss.
The 3 main parts of this fight are letting the main tank get and hold aggro, keeping Oondasta faced away from the raids; every single person must do their best to stay spread out, for melee this was pretty easy once you figure out that this boss has a HUGE hit box. And lastly run back if you die. Very fun encounter, and if you aren't in Throne of Thunder yet and need something to spend your Mogu Charms on, try this out!

. Lucky few of us from Korgath got the invite. Took one try with 4 full groups. (160 toons). The first 70% went smooth then he gets really mad. Almost wiped but it was all good. Fun run.
My advice would be to get AT least 4 Groups or even 5 to make it real smooth.
Also when you pull make sure everyone is on the beach and try to pull him off the cliff, makes it alot easier. Especially if u die, then you dont have to run all the way around the island.
Oh yeah, all i got was gold, even with the extra roll.....LAME!
**Blizz, if ur gonna make something this tough, at least gaurantee something for loot instead of 30 Gold. This guy takes planning and serious multi team work.

Explanation of March 11th hotfixes that disables players from other realms getting loot:
We’re in the process of implementing a hotfix that will remove players’ eligibility to receive loot from Oondasta and Nalak if they’re not on their home realm.
We think it’s great that encounters like Oondasta have been able to bring back some of the excitement of massive spontaneous outdoor raids. However, with cross-realm groups giving the ability to play with friends on each other’s realms, the amount of people concentrating on a single realm to try to zerg these bosses down can unfortunately cause a number of stability issues, impacting the availability of the game for everyone.
While Nalak isn’t available yet, we want to preemptively address this so that the first realm to unlock it doesn’t then become the single focus for the rest of the region.
Here’s the hotfix note that’ll be added to the blog shortly:
Players visiting a different realm are no longer eligible to receive loot from Oondasta or Nalak, The Storm Lord.

Contrary to other world bosses, Oondasta doesn't have a zone wide yell. If you see multiple people saying that he's up, they might not be joking. Fair warning: a zone wide yell might be added in the future, take that into consideration when reading this comment.

Was killed earlier this week with about 5 full raid groups. Everyone wiped at least 5 times, but pulling him to the graveyard makes everything a lot easier. Also watch out the Direhorns that come around. Either he spawns them, or they respawn quickly after killing them.
Make sure to kill them.
Also, after he stacks up Growing Fury about 5 times, Frill Blast and/or Spitfire Beam will one-shot you regardless of how much health you have. DPS need to try and stay behind him. Don't cast a spell while he casts Piercing Roar or it'll silence you for 10secs.

Here's the strat we used yesterday morning on Kargath:
Total players: Approximately 100. (2 mostly full groups and 2 smaller partial groups).
We had 5 total tanks and they were all in the same group and in vent to coordinate who would be tanking. We had reliable healers in this group with the tanks. Overall this proved mostly unnecessary but depending on the number of people and level of gear this would certainly help.
1) Entire raid group stacked up at Ally FP (to avoid the AoE damage attacks)
2) Primary tank ran up to pull the boss down to the beach. 2 healers waited at the base of the cliff to heal after the piercing shout.
3) Tank (me) pulled the boss to the Horde FP. The boss moves VERY slowly and you can't just run or he'll despawn. I used shield wall on his frill attack just to be sure since there were very few people around to watch me otherwise.
4) Once Tank was in place gave the all clear for dps/heals to run in and spread out around the boss. With 100 or so people it was hard to get spread out enough for people to not die to the chain but this is a small portion of the overall raid.
5) Primary tank kept threat until they died (boss was approximately 40%). Other tanks stayed out of frill blast entirely so the ONLY target in front was the person tanking. This is important because when the tank does eventually die (remember with this many people you'll have TONS of CDs for the frill blast) Even with 4 stacks of crush armor I was able to tank the boss with little issue through CD rotation. I died at approximately 40%.
6) Next tank on list stepped in front and continued the process. 2nd tank lasted until around 20%. At that point the other tanks were dead (they had been taking frill blast) so it became a GY zerg but he died maybe a minute later.
Some important things to note:
If you have a very large raid group it's probably better to stack up in very small groups than to spread out entirely. The chain lightning is going to kill people anyway so you may as well gain the benefit of aoe heals and damage reduction CDs.
Having one tank hold threat the entire time is somewhat more stressful on healers but your dps will live MUCH longer than trying to run people around with tank swaps etc.
Symbiosis gives tanks an extra CD. Use it!
Demo Banner (Warriors) works on piercing roar. -10% of 200k to 100 people is a lot of damage your healers don't need to keep up with and it could mean more people alive later in the fight with his stacking 10% buff.
Misidrect doesn't seem to work.
**No dps (including tank dps, they stay off too) until the boss is in position. If you don't do this then you risk a frill blast in the middle of the raid (this is why we used the different flight masters as reference points).
How to deal with his abilities:
重压
- Stacks on the tank. Eventually this'll cause you to die either way. You *can* tank swap it but there's very little need to unless you're using a very small group with solid coordination. For most world pugs this isn't worth worrying about. (Physical)
焰甲冲击
- Only one person should get hit by this at a time and that should be the main tank. Use your tank CDs and rotate in healer CDs when necessary to survive. (Fire damage)
穿刺咆哮
- This is on a timer and it's pretty accurate (unless you have so many people that you're lagging). Use personal CDs (especially later in the fight) to reduce this damage. This will eventually start killing people when coupled with the next ability.
灵火光束
- Spread out if possible (10 yards, in back half only) and if there are too many then try to stack in 2-3 person groups.
渐燃之怒
- Kill him before he gets to 21 stacks. He despawned at 21 (and of course he'll just start slaughtering your raid with his AoE attacks)
If you follow these steps and use DPS CDs early and often you should have little trouble with this boss overall. If you can get him under 40% before a significant portion of the raid dies then a GY zerg should work for the last portion.

Even with 4 raid groups, this boss can be close to impossible. I think my entire SERVER was on the isle in one of our 4 raid groups when we attempted him. Over 200 players.
This is just to note that at least 5-6 groups are needed, or at the very least, 4 very well geared groups. We wiped about 6 times, though got very close on one try (11% hp). You'll need very good tanks and healers, and try to get the boss to face away from the dps part of the groups (for his Frill Blast). If you die, don't rez before/during his Piercing Roar, or else you'll just die again and be faced with a 2 min rez timer.
Also, if you're ging to lure him to the graveyard side, let the tanks kite him down (dps stay to the side) and when he's on the beach, dps him down. Try not to take him out for a swim, he'll despawn (happened on one of our tries). If you have multiple groups, one group must be assigned to watch out for the primal dinos to respawn, as they can wipe the group fairly quickly if not taken care of.
We eventually gave up after many wipes (and our skeletons decorated the beach as proof of our multiple tries lol), but this info would've worked for us if certain issues didn't happen in our tries.
Hope this helps those who are struggling with this boss.

I've been on two kills on Runetotem U.S. First time was 127 ppl, second time was ~125 ppl. After a few wipes each time we just had him tanked where he spawned. The keys are spreading everyone out all the way around him, after the tank has built agro for 10 or 15 seconds blow all the DPS cool downs. It's important to kill him before his damage buff stacks too high. Making sure everyone runs back as soon as they are killed, no pausing to chat or check tactics. Finally, do not rez right in front of him. The final zerg is dependent on people popping up, bandaging, then blowing all their CD's to do max damage before being killed....again. Oh yeah, and every self-heal is essential, as healers must focus on the tanks, during the end-fight zerg if a tank can grab aggro and keep Oony in place for 5 or 10 seconds, it makes all the difference.

Good luck in 5.2 live. My experience in the last two weeks on Sargeras have been server crashes. After the crash Oondasta is reset to a 48 hour wait time. Response from GM's to players on high population servers are:
1) Since Oondasta was not killed there will not be loot to hand out.
2) We will not make Ooondasta spawn dispite server crash.
3) We are looking into it.
4) No achievments or loot will be obtainable dispite the fact you engaged Oondasta.
My suggestions would be Isle of Giants needs to be its own zone like Isle of Thunder, so it can support a few hundred people.
Sadly Sargeras like other high population servers have experienced several server crashes while engaging Oondasta. Personally I have engaged Oondasta twice now and the server has crashed, leaving me and many others disapointed and a little angry at their lack of culpability.

We just killed him on Bloodhoof. (With the help from people on Azjol-Nerub)
We had about 4 full raid groups. Tanked him on the beach so people didn't have to run a long way from the graveyard. His damage ranged from 100k hits to 1400k hits. (Yeah try unstacking when you're with 4 groups)
At 1 point it was just "Res - hit mob - die in 1Hit" and repeat. But we managed after all.
Some people got loot, some didn't and others (like myself) got gold... (bonus roll was gold too...) Which was kinda disappointing...
Oh well, got a nice achievement for it though.

Official blue post on changed spawn rate:
Agreed, this is an amazing fight of epic proportions and really tiny arms. We definitely want players to have more chances to experience it. The epicness should be about fighting it, not about finding when it spawns, even though that can also be somewhat fun as long as the timer is not so long that it gets frustrating.
You should be able to find Mr. “Tiny Hands” Oondasta a bit more often now.

My expectation of an Oondasta kill: An organized, well put together raid of elite geared players who control the boss well, give out orders, and everything is done as smoothly as possible. (I lol'd)
Reality: I casually join a random group and head to the island. When I get there, he isn't at the spawn, but rather, in the graveyard with 7.2% health. Everyone is screaming in raid "God damnit, another 2 minute res time, don't kill him yet just wait!" There is so much lag for everyone, that I don't even think dodging anything or going by mechanics is possible with that amount of people beating on him. After five minutes of everyone smacking him, freezing, instantly dying, and ressing up again, he is finally killed. I look around, and the entire ground in the area is coated in a glorious white pigment. Oondasta and his evil accomplice Lag are strong, but not strong enough to break the will of dozens of players seeking their weekly gold bags (which
totally
covered their gigantic repair bills, I'm sure). Well played, Illidan, well played.
On a side note, I got gold, and rolled for more gold, which didn't even add up to the amount of money I racked up in repairs. Pathetic? Yes. Worth it? Hell yeah.

Well we killed him today with a 40 man group... no guild group, just some random guys from the trade chat. Our equip was around 480-505 ilvl i guess, no hardmode raiders. Of course some more people watching us helped with him, but just a few, since my server isnt really high populated.
Our strategy was to just to have ranged on max range, healers between ranged people and melees, and some tanks. After each tank death, we used combat rezz. and tryed to push them on aggro (with rogues and hunters). Its just important to keep some distance between people so his spiritfire beam cant jump, to stop casting when oondasta is using his piercing roar and to stay concentrated. I find this guy much more difficult with more people tbh.

I really do not know why people try to pull him off of the cliff.
I have done this many times on a high pop server near the beach and I have given up after 5 + attempts. Today, after 3 attempts, my group was able to down him near the beach. Yesterday, I was able to down him on a low pop server while being on top of the cliff (in the tar pits), and we were able to down him on our first try. (go figure!) On both servers, there were the same number of groups (3 full groups to be specific), but somehow on the high pop server
we are unable to easily coordinate the group when the raid boss is near the beach.

I understand that Oondasta is designed to be tough and just downing him should feel like an accomplishment in and of itself, but please Blizz, reward enough gold for repair or increase the loot drop rate. No one likes to take the time to gather 4 or 5 full raid groups and take 1 or 2 hours of their time downing for a gold reward that's half their repair. It's anti-climatic and honestly, somewhat insulting. I say fix it, or Oondasta will end up a "cool screenshot" opportunity and that's about all.

Our PUG downed him, and I can tell you:
It was a nightmare.
We had a nearly full raid group, everyone just kept dying and ressing at the GY, it was horrible. At worst it was
4
people alive at a time, with Oondasta and some random elites that were troll-pulled by non-grouped hunters MD'ing to our raid members. The battle itself took well over 15 minutes, but we got him down. For me, my gear was around ilvl 456, 'cause I had kinda freshly dinged 90, dunno about the others' gear. I got REALLY lucky with the loot, got
Overcompensating Chain of the Alpha Male
, not bonus loot roll (bonus loot was gold).
Oondasta is BRUTAL and I'm SO excited about killing him still after all those deaths and even getting loot on top of that!

BullDozzer
Has got his health reduced by
50
% from
872
m to
436
m
The reasoning given is that the high amount of health was to provide a challenge for well geared and organized groups, and the mechanics was to hinder
zerging
. But as known this was still possible and caused a lot of problems to players and servers. The reduction in health is supposed to give smaller groups a chance of killing him before to much people flood the island.
Yes, Oondasta's maximum health has been reduced by 50%. The design intent behind this boss was for the primary audience to be
guilds rather than pickup groups
. That is why we placed Oondasta on a relatively remote island, surrounded by powerful elite dinosaurs that make solo travel in the area a dicey proposition. It's why he has mechanics that will outright kill you without the coordinated use of cooldowns, and careful positioning. It's a very different philosophy than our approach to designing bosses like Sha of Anger or Nalak. Of course, things didn't exactly play out as we envisioned — as we all know, it was possible to overwhelm Oondasta with sheer numbers. While not intended, that was not entirely negative. There have been some pretty epic experiences on the Isle of Giants in the last couple of weeks. There's something to be said for the sight of a hundred spells and missiles flying through the air at a huge dinosaur.
We could have made a number of changes that would have made this approach entirely impossible: Consider a version of Oondasta with a Spiritfire Beam that could hop to 99 targets instead of 20, and a Doomwalker-style debuff that prevented players who had died during the encounter from re-engaging. Definitely not zergable. But that doesn't mean that people would stop trying, and the result would likely be a boss that no one could kill, and a frustrating experience for most participants. So we didn't do that.
Ultimately, while our
server hardware
is much, much more powerful than what we had in place during the days of events like the Opening of Ahn'Qiraj years ago, it
still has limits
. And what we have increasingly been observing was players massing around Oondasta in such great numbers that it brought servers to their knees. As word spreads that Oondasta has spawned, more and more people flock to the Isle of Giants for a piece of the action. Many people have been in Oondasta fights where spells took multiple seconds to cast, and the dinosaur perhaps stopped using its abilities entirely. Players with anything but the very best computers saw nothing but a slideshow. And in
extreme cases
, the entire continent of
Pandaria crashed
. That simply isn't an acceptable experience for our players, and so we reduced Oondasta's health, so that
smaller groups are more likely to be successful
, and he'll likely die before so many players arrive that it degrades the experience for everyone present. If server capacity were limitless, we wouldn't have made any of these changes, but alas that is not the case.
Oondasta clearly did not deliver on our original expectations. We'll apply the lessons learned from this experience to any future world bosses we add

I have tried on three separate occasions to down this boss with well coordinated raids. Dragging him to the graveyard certainly helps but will only stave the inevitable wipe. Even with a full 40 man raid of heroic geared raiders it is almost impossible to down this boss without losing every member of the raid at least once during the fight. I realize after reading the blue posts that this boss was meant to be hard but when hardcore raiders are having problems with it even after a 50% health cut then it is time to go back to the drawing board. I honestly believe the only way to kill this boss without a hefty repair bill at this point is to zerg it with 2-4 FULL well coordinated raids. That being said is Blizzard honestly saying that we should get upwards of 200 people in one place on the server at a time to down a single boss? I know of people that have gotten banned for less because that many people in one area of the server slows the whole world server to a crawl and often crashes it. This boss needs to be revamped, just removed from the game entirely, or placed into a instance so that attempting to kill it does not disrupt the game-play of countless other players.

Guide to a Clean Kill:
Need two tanks minumum. This fight is all about good tanking. Everything else is secondary.
1.
Tank 1
attacks and gains
盛气凌人
.
2.
Tank 1
positions boss to face
AWAY
from the raid. While Oondasta is
NOT TAUNTABLE
, whichever tank has the
盛气凌人
buff has control of where the boss is facing, including NPC tanking pets. Oondasta should be placed with ample room around his hind side to allow all melee and ranged space to spread out.
3. Non-tanks, melee, and ranged must be behind the boss spread out
10 yards apart
to avoid
灵火光束
. This chain-lightning on crack will destroy you swiftly.
4. All members must stop casting when they see the boss casting
穿刺咆哮
, otherwise they will be silenced.
5. Anything within the boss' frontal 180 degree cone can and will be hit with
焰甲冲击
. This includes anyone and anything directly to the boss' sides. Stay behind the boss at all times.
6.
Tank 1
gets
重压
debuff, rendering
Tank 1
ineffective.
Tank 1
stops all attacks to shed threat.
7.
Tank 2
continues attacking and ramps up all threat possible to gain
盛气凌人
.
Tank 2
now has control of where Oondasta faces.
8.
Tank 2
will eventually get the
重压
debuff and must enact
step 6
, swapping the boss back to
Tank 1
.
Rinse and repeat.
Guide to an ungodly enormous Repair Bill:
1. Kite Oondasta down to the graveyard and keep him placed directly on top it. This will ensure that all people resurrecting to continue the fight will be obliterated immediately upon being struck with either
灵火光束
or
焰甲冲击
. The closer Oondasta is to the side of the cliff on top of the graveyard while facing the ocean, the better, as this will prevent the entire raid from staying behind the boss when he casts
焰甲冲击
unless they want to group up and get hit with
灵火光束
.
2. All dps should be using tanking pets which will face and position the boss randomly, because now that the healers are deceased the tanks are deceased. This ensures that the raid will be hit with
灵火光束
and
焰甲冲击
. By now, all healers and most ranged classes should be deceased and attempting to resurrect in the graveyard.
3. Any non-tank member must immediately spam or /yell for the tanks to taunt and face the boss correctly. Assign this role to any raid member that does not yet have this achievement. If all members somehow do already have the achievement, assign this role to the angriest most annoying member in the group.
4. After resurrecting multiple times and being stuck on a resurrection timer, /cry like a baby.
5. Drag the boss into the ocean to get him to despawn, and leave the raid party because you are an idiot.

The gear he drops (other than mount) really isn't anything special now since you can easily buy 522 gear with valor and he drops NO tier gear the way Sha of Anger did.
Nalak drops the 522 tier gear tho.

As of the hotfix april 22th
"Players coalesced from a different realm are now eligible to receive loot or use a bonus roll after defeating Oondasta or Nalak."
So you can get loot from cross realm raids now.

Just downed him with only 1 full raid group, we didn't pull him to GY or anything, just tank and spank where he stood.

This may sound strange but a group of people (Me included) On Emerald Dream - EU Managed to pull him to the Isle of reckoning at the top corner of Kun-Lai. We had 3 raid groups of people for the attempt. Once he had reached isle of rekoning he was at 5% health and we killed him. I don't know if this was a glitch or something but i know for certain he isn't able to be pulled that far. Yet he did not de-spawn?

Interesting fact:
"oondasta" is actually one of the words programmed into the translation algorithms for producing the language heard/seen by non-trolls players when troll players/npcs use
巨魔语
.
A list of these programmed phrases can be found on wowwiki.

Once again Blizz has made some changes to make this easier. Apparently too many people were complaining about having to follow the paths to the right or left. They were struggling to make their way thru dino mobs to reach Oondasta at the top of the mountain.
So... Now there is a trail straight up the mountain in front of the flight master. Couldn't be easier.

BUT .. in that nine weeks I have received nadda from Oon with the exception of gold and bones. Yes I run H Scenarios and the Random Dungeon and pass on 99% of the items that drop. Rarely to I win items from H Scenarios.. Just wondering if this is normal or are other people noticing the lengthy time for ( Finally ) win some loot worth going for.

Gotta love this fight I was main tank with 3 other tanks standing next to me - 1st frill blast - bang all 3 die :D
As a DK surviving the whole fight with 1 tank seems possible - he was down to less than 100m when I died but that was cause there was only 1 healer still alive at that point Anti Magic Shell is seriously useful here as you can use it on every other frill blast. Doing that and carefully managing your other cds (druid symbiosis helps) for the times when AMS is on cd will help you to survive longer.

We managed to kill him with a 40-man group at Nagrand server at 19:34 PM GMT+2, we had 1 wipe and the 2nd time there was only 5 man left but thanks to the nearby graveyard we were able to kill him bit by bit the last 50M HP, another juicy achievement taken!

The purpose of
焰甲冲击
is, of course, to kill everyone it touches; it's the main mechanic to the Oondasta encounter, and failing to handle this properly means your entire raid will die in one fell swoop. However, it's very important to note that this is NOT an insta-kill ability. It generally has that effect due to the extremely high amount of damage it does, but
it can be survived
through the well-timed and judicious use of certain tank abilities. Of course, all of this depends on your healers patching you up very well immediately afterward, and that you're doing the encounter properly by having only one tank in the line of fire at a time and nobody else.
Anyway, tanks have a number of "near invincibility" abilities that enable them to take, defer, or absorb very large amounts of damage. Using one of these abilities just as the big dino starts charging up his frill can allow you to survive that attack. Of course, most of these abilities contain very long cooldowns, so most likely you're only only going to survive one blast, maybe two, before you die anyway, but that survival could help your other tanks get past their resurrection timers and get back in the fight.
Protection Paladin
远古列王守卫
- Absorbs 50% of damage, meaning you'll get 400,000 damage at the most. 3 minute cooldown.
炽热防御者
- Absorbs 20% of damage, meaning you'll still get a fatal amount of damage, but then the second part of this buff kicks in, allowing you to survive at 15% health. 3 minute cooldown.
圣佑术
- Absorbs 40% of magical damage, meaning you'll get 480,000 damage at the most. 1 minute cooldown.
NOTE:
This one only works if you don't have
圣佑术雕文
- with that glyph, you'll only absorb 20% of damage, meaning you'll be taking 640,000 damage. Might be survivable for a well-geared tank with a number of buffs, but you'll be on your last legs all the same.
Blood Death Knight
反魔法护罩
- Absorbs 75% of magical damage, up to 50% of your maximum health. Will also generate a lot of runic power, but only lasts for 5 seconds, so time this well. 45 second cooldown.
冰封之韧
- Absorbs 50% of all damage (assuming you are in fact a Blood DK), meaning you'll get 400,000 damage at the most. 3 minute cooldown.
白骨之盾
- Absorbs 20% of all damage, so still getting 640,000 damage, but you may be able to pair this with other shielding abilities to survive. 1 minute cooldown.
反魔法领域
- Absorbs 75% of magical damage, but will immediately break after Frill Blast. Will also protect any stupid noobs on the wrong side of Oondasta. 2 minute cooldown.
Druid
树皮术
- Absorbs 20% of all damage, so still getting 640,000 damage, but you may be able to pair this with other shielding abilities to survive. 1 minute cooldown.
生存本能
- Absorbs 50% of damage, meaning you'll get 400,000 damage at the most. 3 minute cooldown.
Brewmaster Monk
禅悟冥想
- Absorbs 90% of all damage, but will break on any melee attacks, so be sure you've killed off all the nearby trash and you cast this at the last possible moment. 3 minute cooldown.
壮胆酒
- Absorbs 20% of all damage, increases maximum health by 20%, and increases Stagger by 20% meaning you'll get 640,000 damage at the most, but the increased health may make it survivable, and you can remove most of the Stagger damage with
活血酒
. 3 minute cooldown.
散魔功
- Absorbs 90% of magical damage. Level 75 talent. 90 second cooldown.
躯不坏
- Reduces by 50% the damage of the next three attacks dealing more than 20% of your maximum health. Level 75 talent. 90 second cooldown.
白虎下凡
- Invokes a tiger who taunts your target, allowing you to run behind and so survive.
However, since Oondasta is immune to taunts, this may not work. Can a monk confirm?
3 minute cooldown.
Protection Warrior
盾墙
- Absorbs 40% of all damage, meaning you'll get 480,000 damage at the most. 3 minute cooldown.
Unfortunately, any abilities that confer TOTAL invincibility for a period of time (such as
圣盾术
) will cause far more harm than good. Casting any of these will cause Oondasta to recognize that it's pointless trying to attack you. You won't lose any threat, but he will switch his attentions to the next most threatening tank, who, if you're doing things properly, is standing behind Oondasta with the rest of the raid. If you cast the spell while Oondasta is casting Frill Blast, the raid has no time to respond, they all die, and it's all your fault. So don't cast these.
Additionally, note that spell-reflecting abilities (such as
法术反射
) won't work either - you're still going to die.
Please note that I've no direct experience with tanks other than Protection Paladins, so if any of the above is inaccurate, please leave a note below and I'll fix it.

@Tanks:
Piercing Roar
can be dodged
-> @Warrior Tanks: Druid's 'Symbiosis' grants you 'Savage Defense', adding +30% Dodge for 6s at the price of 60 rage)
-> @Bear Tanks: Save one 'Savage Defense' to activate it on that cast
-> in general: Dodge trinket with 'on use' effect -> then
-> Despite being labeled "physical damage" 'Piercing Roar' will not be reduced by armor
Growing Fury
increases ALL damage done by Oondasta, not just auto attack damage as I thought first
Casting
Frill Blast
seems to lock Oondasta's facing position thus making it possible to avoid that cast by running towards and through Oondasta, being there as the cast goes off (no personal experience yet).
@Healers
Keep an eye on what Oondasta is casting (/focus Oondasta) or use raid mods. Casting while Roar goes off silences for 10s. Tanks unable to avoid the 180° wave of death will need immediate healing / a live saving buff before that cast finishes.
@Dps
180° in front of Oondasta = death zone.
Ranged should stand 10y away from each other but in range of at least 1 healer.
Melee can't stand 10y away from each other and should crowd behind Oondasta, receiving AoE heals.
Casters: Stop casting when Roar goes off. Else you'll be silenced for 10s.
Pop all CDs you have as the initial lag fades because the longer the fight lasts the harder Oondasta damages everyone, increasing the nuke-the-tank potential.

Given how rediculously difficult this guy used to be, I thought it would be fun to point out that I tried to 2 man him today. 557 blood dk and 572 fury warrior, got him to 90% lol.
We brought in a 585 boomkin and managed to get him down to 63% before the stacking damage increase began one shotting us. It was a pretty bad pull and we were only averaging about 275k dps each (125k for the tank), so I reckon with a 5 man group of tank and 4 dps with some some reasonably clever off healing and good buff distribution you could easily do this.
Should be easy enough to solo at 100 if anyone from the future is looking back at this thinking about trying to get the mount.

For those visiting during MoP Classic. If you want to check whether you've done this guy on alts, here's a macro. Create it in your "General Macros" so it can be used by all your characters rather than creating it multiple times. Have also included Nalak since he'll be out soon.
/run local z,t={='Sha',='Galleon',='Oondasta',='Nalak'},GetQuestsCompleted();for c,v in pairs(z) do print(format('%s: %s',v,t and '\124cff00ff00Spanked\124r' or '\124cffff0000Requires Spanking\124r')) end
