This item like the Justice Goods Vendor and Honor Good Vendor's herb cache may prove to not be refundable. Kind of a buy at your own risk type of deal.

People are going to continue to do the dailies after the marks are no longer useful for unlocking farther content for the gold rewards. This item was added to give people something to do with their marks instead of just going "oh look I haz marks". I think that what basically amounts to 20G worth of enchanting mats every day for doing dailies you would have done anyway with a chance at a pet is more than fair and that the people QQing that its not useful should just not worry about it then its not like blizz removed other content to put these in its just a nice little extra.

After I received my Scorched Stone, I'm holding on to all my marks in the HOPE that they either add other things to get from the cache, or just other things to buy with the marks. Keeping in mind they did add bits to the Argent Tournament grounds after it's initial release.

EDIT: Clearly there will not be changes to items redeemable. Which is a shame.

Today was my fourth cache... still no pet, just crappy greens.

I will continue until I get the pet, then never set foot in the Molten Front again, unless they add something new.

Back to the Argent Tourament with me to get the rest of the mounts! *sigh*

This thing really needs to be fixed. A 30 mark grind per day, long after marks are useful for ANYTHING else, to get a random roll on seeing a SINGLE item? Seriously, this is a major failure in the design department. Unless you want to SERIOUSLY annoy the player that is seeking this pet. The grind is 45 minutes EACH DAY and so far, 10 days in, I've come up with nothing. Yeah, I'm seriously annoyed at this point. That's a LOT of play time wasted. And adds to the massive play time I already wasted for two years grinding Ahune more than any one player should have been able to. Back when Ahune wasn't simple a "queue and kill" boss.

If they wanted to time investment to be high, I am fine with that. Put that pet on the vendor for 300 marks, or 1000. Whatever. Make it a FIXED end point. Not a random roll that can literally go on forever for some people, while others get three pets in their first four bags.

I am SO thoroughly tired of these soul-crushing dailies. Yes, I want the pet and yes, I am glad they re-added it, but it never should have been removed in the first place anyway. Spending the bulk of my playtime grinding another solid day of MF dailies is NOT fun. WoW is looking more like work all the time, which is what eventually drove me from Everquest. I never looked back and WoW, for all that it does that is good, is moving to the "Maximize time sink" model. That's never fun.

Fix it. I shouldn't be spending over 300 marks on this pet and still not seeing it, when other players can get three a week on one character.

If it was merely a time sink, that would be fine. Did you see where I suggested they make it cost 300 or even 1000 marks? A time sink with a finish line is 100% acceptable. You know what you're in for when you sign up. That's not the case here, nor is it a "huge time sink" for the people that got it in their second bag.

When you finally unlock the ability to buy this cache, it's the ONLY thing you can do with your marks. That's it. Should you need to spend 625 more marks to see the pet? Probably not, but if that were the price at least you'd know where the grind ends. As it stands you can spend 3000 marks and not see it, while other players are seeing it 3 times after spending 120. Not good considering the time investment just to roll the dice.

This isn't like a rare drop pet, aka a whelping or the fox, where you might be farming for WEEKS to see it. In those cases you have a very low chance to get the drop, but you roll the dice many times a minute. As many times as you want, over and over again. In this case you spend 45 minutes shaking those dice then roll to see another 6g green. And that's it, you're done for that day. Come back tomorrow.

Grinds are fine in MMO's and encourage you too keep playing and playing that subscription, but eventually, when it's just a grind with no end, repetitive and no longer even remotely fun, the subscription comes to an end. Blizzard has been overdoing it lately. This is another example.

I'm so glad I got my Littlest Pet Shop recently, seeing how unlucky I am with this one I would have probably cut my wrists in anticipation of getting it.
Ofc I'm still working on it, but 14 bags no luck, while 4 of my guildies already got theirs within the first 10 bags is just frustrating.

But yeah, RNG is random, hang in there guys.
Keep at it and we will get it.

After..28 bags or 29..30...dont know very well.....in the day i bough 2 bags at same time because every day gives 31 marks. so after 30 days i can buy 2 bags. So...in the day i bought 2 bags ...i got mine in the second bag :) FINALLY ! IM FREE !

Some items are luck, but the dice roll on Attumen or Kael'thas (TK) is once a week for 10-20 minutes effort.

This bag is a once-a-day dice roll for 25-40 minutes effort, with the added risk of being ganked on a PVP server, fighting numerous annoying mobs and doing almost 20 daily quests with severe design issues or bugs (Protectors of Hyjal for instance).

The polar bear was a single daily that took 3 minutes to complete. The green proto-drake came out of an egg which required nothing more than buying it from the vendor. No "grind" involved.

Doing something that takes 20 minutes once a week for a chance at a mount or pet is fine because you do it and you know you're done till the next raid reset. You don't get burned out on it because you're only doing it once a week. Likewise, grinding mobs for a chance at a low drop rate pet or mount also doesn't burn you out because you can do it any time, for a few minutes or many hours. You do it on your mood and terms. If you don't feel like doing it, you don't. If you feel like nerding it sitting at the keyboard for half a day doing it, you do. You can stop whenever you want because there's no "next stage".

But this series of quests for a single chance at an item falls between the two ends of the spectrum (once a week or as much as you want) in a place where a majority of players get frustrated. You can skip doing it if you want, but because it's a one-shot per day skipping it is more prone to leaving you feeling like an opportunity was lost. Conversely, you can't grind at it as much as you want to get the pet, because you can only get 31 marks per day max. And the amount of time it takes to grind is also a frustration factor. You spend 30+ minutes doing a ton of dailies to see nothing but a green in the bag, for more than a few days in a row, and you get left feeling burnt out and frustrated. You also can't "just stop" like you can with mob grinding because the quests lead into other quests which provide significantly more marks. A weekly limit on raid lockouts prevents that sort of frustration with various rare mounts. With grindable items such as Captured Firefly you can regulate the amount of effort and time invested much more easily.

The development team simply managed to create a mark and quest system with a reward at the end which manages to be more frustrating than any such system previously seen in this game. I'm willing to bet the quest design lead for Molten Front probably cost Blizzard many thousands of subscribers simply by making the pet random instead of sold by the vendor for a large amount of marks.

I rarely ever comment, but I just had to for this...
After achieving the last achievement for these quests on July 28, I've been doing 16 additional dailies for 41 straight days and FINALLY got it. I already had the 2500 daily quests achievement so these past 41 days were strictly for this pet. I've never been so close to quitting the game. Although I HAVE the pet now, I still feel for those who don't... something needs to get fixed...

fyi... I did 656 additional dailies and nearly 20 hours extra work for this pet which I don't even plan to use...

Okay, so why does the bag mostly contain greens? You have to be level 85 to even get to the Molten Front, and greens are useless at that point. The only thing this stuff is good for is disenchanting.

I would much rather save up 150 or even 300 Marks of the World tree for the pet than jeopardize my blood pressure with a random drop for 30.

I can strongly recommend everyone to save up your Marks of the world tree and buy at least 2 Zen'Vorka's Caches at a time.

I bought 2 in a row today and my second cache contained my lovely fiery schorchling companion..

This is the only the 7th cache i bought so far so i can say i'm pretty lucky..
However drop rate is around 5 percent.

Try to save up all your marks of the world tree and buy a lot of Caches at once
This will improve your chance of looting, although the droprate will still remain the same ofcourse

The only reason to continue doing these quests after you've unlocked everything is for gold and or guild xp and guild rep. Don't complain about the mechanics of this cache its only a frivolous currency dump. If you complain about grinding to get something from this cache you're not smart.

Everyone should remember the math for drops. If something has a 1% drop rate. Many think that after 20 rolls your odds are better. They aren't. Even if you roll the dice 2,000 times. The next time you roll the dice you STILL have a 1% chance to win the roll! I got a rare mount on my first try doing some quest last year. Just found it in my bags. But do you think after running Stratholme 60 times that I could ever get that mount :( No. Just wanted to point out - that if you're really unlucky - you could try for this pet the rest of your life and never get it. Or... you could get it next time! That's the frustrating part of this. Since I don't collect pets - it doesn't really bother me. I have 10 toons - I'm not running this once I don't have to! lol. but to all you grinding for this - I wish you the best! :)

Just had to post - this was hysterical - traded 30 marks in for my very first cache and opened it and there was a some gold and an elementium lockbox. This was a bit annoying. I had to head to SW and craft some keys to open box number 1. With that done I opened the first elementium lockbox only to find... another elementium lockbox. Was pretty much laughing my ass off now thinking about the Russian Matryoshka dolls. So I used another key to open box number 2 only to find... a 3rd lockbox. Blizzard has one hell of a sense of humor that's for sure (I know its a RNG but in this case ?) By Box #3 I was expecting a super rare mount but ended up with a boring old green crossbow and just over 100G and a bellyache from cracking up.

To calculate the probability of getting a rare drop/event over multiple attempts, use the formula:

1-p^n

Where p = the probability of the drop/event NOT occuring on an attempt
and n = the number of attempts

So for example, if the Scorched Stone has a drop rate of 5%, the chance that you will see it at least once if you open a cache every day for a month (30 days) is:

1-0.95^30
= 0.785 or 78.5%.

I've had around 180 marks just sitting in my bags for awhile, so I decided to use them. Got the pet on my first try, and then got it again out of the 5th bag. Seems like RNG decided to favor me today.

I just wanted to state that I had Scorched Stone in my 4th, 2 cassettes and 1 green in the others.
Either I was terribly lucky or maybe they nerfed it in > 5.3? The last comment after mine was in 5.2.
