Whichever dev decided to make these a lower droprate than green quality fish, while requiring skinners to get 8 of them for their first lure, needs to step on a lego.

You're probably here to write what I'm about to write:

The tooltip in your bag doesn't note that the increase to fishing skill is limited. The fishing journal indicates that it lasts 30 seconds, which can be extended to five minutes if multiple fish are used.

So, don't throw it in right away and think you're getting a permanent boost.

I feel like I fished up way more of these when I my skill was low; now I mostly get greens even from open water. Gore Guppy is about the same.

I've caught about 20 Arcane Wyrmfish in about an hour in the Sanctum of Light in Silvermoon City. There is a glowing pool under the Scouting Table. I also got a Patient Chest and only 10 grey items so far. Easy day chillin and fishin.

EDIT: Fished up 10 more in about 15 minutes.

I have been getting really good luck fishing Sunwell Swarms. I caught around 20 of them in about 30-45 minutes. My fishing skill is 148+18 with the 4* Sin 'dorei Angler's Rod

managed to fish in 30 minutes at location 31.73, 91.52 and north east of silvermoon all in open waters

Quel'Danas open ocean area is my personal spot that is fairly consistent in getting a good amount of them. Seems to be of a different loot pool/rates than from the city. Got 9 in 10 minutes (buffing perception seems to get x2 in alot of cases)... 329 fishing. If you want the exact is that first little dock area (49.85, 95.27).

Looking at all these posts and I just have to wonder if our priorities are in the right place. At this time they are selling for 101G, but the price has gone as high as 220G. Taking the worst case scenario of 220g on AH and best case scenario of fishing for them into account. The answer is don't waste your time fishing for them specifically. At 220g at a drop rate of 20 per hour your gold per hour is less than 5000, Almost any activity you choose will easily earn you more than that. Now some will say you catch other money fish at the same time, but still not going to beat any other activity. The only players who should be fishing for these are those leveling fishing. They can make a bit of coin for their pain and those who need them can enjoy more fruitful endeavors and just buy them off AH. Watch they daily prices and only buy when they are cheaper.

Blizzard have completely changed drop-rate. Now when you fishing in open water you get Arcane Wyrmfish almost on every cast
