A good place to get these is the Rootway west of Nesingwary's Trek. Feathered Viper Eggs will spawn about a half-dozen small mobs, which can be skinned for shimmerscale. Around 61,18.

Hangman's Point in Drustvar seems like a good place to farm. The Shallows Saurolisk drop it and they are farmed for the quest Harmful if swallowed

If you are Horde, Thieving Snapper at 36, 14 in The Zocalo in Dazar'alor are good to farm for these. They are easy and quick to kill and you can skin 2-3 per mob :) Also Irritable Diemetradon in Zuldazar is a good spot.

When the World quest Strange Egg is up, you can skin the little raptors that spawn. They are easy to kill and they give 2-4 Shimmerscale. You can do this even if you have finished the WQ, you just have to ask all the other players to loot the raptors so you can skin them :)

After september 07 patch, Feathered Viper Eggs mobs don't drop any skinning trade goods :(

The 2 first groups of mobs in atal'dazar, which consits of 5 Toxic Saurid - drop these and can be farmed with a Brewmaster monk - though it is quite a difficult fight to survive the 2*5 mobs - bring food or heal yourself up - after skinning these small fellas - exit, reset and reenter, its a tedious task wich is most fun to do with a friend.

During the Introductionary quest of breaking out of the prison, when you reach the Sewer Vicejaws, it's probably the best and easiest farming you'll find in the game. They're easy to kill and respawn in seconds of each other.

I took my i377 Ret Paladin out for a walk.

I spent about 40 minutes in Drustvar along the coast near Hangman's Point (70, 42) farming Shallows Saurolisk. I got 608 Shimmerscale, 95 Mistscale, 353 Blood-Stained Bone, 82 Calcified Bone, a bunch of miscellaneous trash and a couple of greens. Alliance have a quest to kill these, but the quest requires looting, so that generally isn't a problem. Also, they respawn quickly. This is the best area that I found for all of those items. These are right next to big packs of Invasive Quillrat, which are good sources of Coarse Leather.

I spent about 20 minutes in Tiragarde Sound around 48, 22 (the watery area north of the "R" in Norwington Estate", which is the closest Alliance flight point) farming Venomscale Slitherers. The Freshwater Snappers in the area aren't worth farming for themselves (at least not for a melee class), but my strategy was to aggro 4-6 of the Slitherers and fight them on top of one or two of the Snappers. I got 345 Shimmerscale, 41 Calcified Bone, 264 Blood-Stained Bone, and 30 Mistscale in that 20 minutes. They respawn quickly and are easy to kill. The water is shallow enough to walk in without having to swim, except for a couple of small pools that can be avoided. Alliance have a quest to kill the Slitherers, but it requires them to loot, so it usually isn't a problem. The only other issue is that's a very popular herbing route, so you'll have herbalists run through and draw long strings of creatures away for a minute or so until they reset back to their positions.

Gold Alert <10K+> If leatherworking profession is available, the coarse leather and shimmerscale can be used to craft Coarse Leather Cestus and Shimmerscale Striker. Each weapon sell price is ~57g but there is a 1 in 6 chance to get an upgrade that sells for ~69g. Therefore, out of 120 weapons sold one can make ~7000 gold. The rest of the loot can bring anywhere between 3k to 10k+ gold if used to craft other gear pieces or sold on AH.

Tip: Do this during the week and make a group with somebody from a low populated realm.

The direhorns and ravasaurs in Xibala (southeast of The MOTHERLODE! dungeon) is a great farming spot for Shimmerscale and Blood-Stained Bone.

Hello. Skyrender Eyrie, 67.34, Zuldazar is also a great place for farming Shimmerscale & Blood Stained Bone.
