For those of us who dislike pet battling, but want to get rid of the ! Menagerie NPC in our garrisons... I am hoping that this item can be gained WITHOUT doing pet battling. I do not have level 25 pets, the highest I have is 15... heck I still have the account-wide Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms quests in my log (A GM told me that you CANNOT abandon them), so at least one level 25 would help me make this easier.

tl;dr I hope I can get this without pet battling. :P

6.1 - This is a reward from the quest Unearthed Magic/Unearthed Magic, from the pet menagerie NPC in your garrison.

One time quest that has you go to outside your mine, pick up a stone, then back to the battle pet master, and you are done.

6.2 - Pet Battle Bonus Event Weekend: Completing The Very Best, a quest to win 5 PvP Pet Battles, will reward you with one stone.

When you really get tired of leveling up your pets, now you can go and level up new character instead!
Won't be faster, but might be more interesting than grinding out pet battles.

To use: summon the pet you want to upgrade, use the stone, and then click on the summoned pet.

It was clearly too difficult to make it work like follower upgrades... :|

Don't be stupid and try to apply this to your non-battle pets like Chi-Ji Kite. It won't do anything and you'll lose your stone.

Doesn't seem to be working after today's patch. I'll get the blue aura around the pet but it doesn't get leveled and the stone remains.

A not-so-obvious benefit of this item is that if you're like me and never tried Pet Battles before, using this stone to boost a single rare companion to level 25 allows you to defeat and capture creatures in Draenor, without the hassle of leveling up all your pets from level 1. Most of us will have at least a single rare companion from quests or events, so use it on that - the stone won't change your pets rarity.

When these were first added, I used one on K'ute. It leveled the pet up to 25, though it's only really visible when the pet is summoned or wandering about my garrison. It just shows up as level 25 on mouseover.

When 6.2 was released and I acquired another non-combat pet, Nethaera's Light, I decided to use another stone to level that one as well. Unfortunately the stone could not be applied to that pet. I tried a couple other pets like it, but the stone would not work on them. I suspect that the patch corrected the ability to use this item on a pet that could not actually battle and for which levels would be meaningless.

I have more than enough level 25 pets, so I just thought it would be fun to use these stones on pets that normally couldn't level. Sadly that doesn't seem possible any more, unless K'ute was an isolated case. It makes sense though, because for most people, consuming a stone like that would be extremely wasteful.

Strange thing happened - I used the stone on my level 1 Weebomination and it only levelled it to 7. Submitted a ticket and waiting for a response but can't find any other reports of this, anyone?

During the pet battle bonus weekend event, it took me 12 PVP games to win 5 for this quest. Make sure you have a team of pets that have good synergy.

Don't use this on non-combat pets =/ Plushie Elykk is a great choice, or another difficult to level pet. It will not upgrade any quality; only adds levels.

They don't stack (god knows why). If you want to keep them for a rainy day, you have to sacrifice an inventory slot for each.

Although these are BoP, you can effectively sell it by offering to use it on any tradeable pet. Just have the other player cage the pet and trade it to you; summon the pet; use the battle stone on the pet; re-cage the pet; and trade it back to the other player. I sold mine for 3k but I think it could go for more if you are willing to shop around for buyers. (Alternatively, you can purchase a level 1 pet on the AH, upgrade it to level 25 and then sell it on the AH for a higher price)

Goes without saying but if your pets are locked by another account on your battle net then you are unable to use this item (or any others that level your pets). The animation will happen but the stone won't be consumed and the pet won't be levelled. Don't worry the game isn't bugged, just need to use it on an account that has control of the pets at that time.

Blizzard Watch did a terrific article on Top Ten Pets to Stone to 25.

I went with the Molten Corgi as my first one - made it much easier to capture pretty much anything else.

In patch 7.2, these are now purchasable for 45 Pet Charm from both Serr'ah and Lio the Lioness, in either Dalaran or your garrison menagerie. That makes these more efficient than Flawless Battle-Training Stone for any pet level 1-9, and less efficient for any pet level 11-24.

Shouldn't the flavor text read "gain up to 24 levels" as the most you can do is go from 1 to 25? Better still would be "train to level 25."

In BFA they will ONLY be purchasable with the new currency - Polished Pet Charm and the cost is going up to 60.

By far the best investment you can spend your Polished Pet Charm on. All of the pets in Battle for Azeroth that are purchasable with charms are either reskinned versions of earlier pets or mundane pets you can tame in the wild.

Ultimate Battle-Training Stone give 24 levels and cost 60 Polished Pet Charm resulting in each level costing 2.5 Polished Pet Charm
Mystery Bag give 1.33 levels and cost 2 Polished Pet Charm resulting in each level costing 1.5 Polished Pet Charm

Mystery Bag give you ~66% more value per Polished Pet Charm (but takes more time to level each pet)

Suggestion only. If you are like me and play one faction, you may forget that faction-only pets such as Mookin Hatchling or the two Murlocks Knight-Captain Murky or Legionnaire Murky can't be summoned by the opposite faction. It might be worth it to get the Training Battle Stones rather than remember to switch on a squirt day.

Just for your info: it seems they nerfed it and they actually cost 35 Polished Pet Charm now. Not 60. Just bought some minutes ago for 35 each because I was doing the dinosaur pet quest line in Legion with Bloodgazer Hatchling etc and had to level them up to 25.

To add my two cents, if you're like me, on the Felcycle quest with the following conditons:

(1) Are doing this on a character either boosted or used Radiant Echoes to get to 70, then quested/dungeoned to 80 in TWW, that means you skipped the entire DF questline,
(2) Have never done any Battle Pet quests before,

you DO NOT need to fly around opening chests on a second character for the Polished Pet Charms to exchange for 3 of these for Spyragos, Nelthara. and Wicker Pup.

Get your first either through the Tier 3 Garrison quest, Unearthed Magic, or use the Pet Charms to exchange for one;
your second and third can be gotten through doing the Born to be Wilder (Born to Be Wilder) questline, which all pet battles can be easily won with your Spyragos (I just spammed Fire Breath).

If your here trying for the Felcycle and you've got a bunch of lvl 3 Garrisons sitting around, easiest source of these is the quest Unearthed Magic Click the Rock 3 times and huzzah

Apparently after the pre-patch to Midnight, Ultimate Battle-Training Stones are no longer available from vendors, and the quest A Practice Bout no longer grants one as a reward.

I contacted Blizzard support, and they confirmed this is a known issue that the WoW team is currently investigating. The stones do not appear to be intentionally removed.
