The Screechflight Scramble
In one of the side questlines required for the achievement
Visitatore del Thaldraszus
, players help Goblin ornithologist Harleen Chirpsnide and her new Dracthyr assistant, Segallia, as they deal with a Harpy attack on Thaldraszus's native Bluefeather Rocs. The Screechflight harpies are not native to the Dragon Isles, and Segallia seems surprised that sentient creatures could be so savage, even asking if all Harpies are this way.
Before long, it becomes apparent the Harpies are using spells to absorb the power of the Bluefeather Rocs by consuming them - especially their eggs. We help out with some conservation efforts and eventually set into motion Harleen's plan - to feed an exploding egg to the harpy Matriarch. However, she will only eat the food prepared by her chef, and so we disguise ourselves as a harpy in order to convince Chef Fry-Aerie to cook up the egg.
Finally, Harleen adjusts our disguise to make us look like the chef, and we deliver the egg to the matriarch. The plan works - in the sort of roundabout way that Goblin plans often do.
As we turn the quest in, Harleen makes an interesting comment about the harpies, suggesting that she, too, wonders if there might be at least some harpies out there who aren't inherently violent. The observation is particularly relevant in light of the Dragon Isles' Centaur, a far more peaceful civilization compared to the Centaur of Kalimdor.
Harpies and dragons aren't that different. Forgetting their attempted mass digestion of the cliffside, they're akin to a civilization of their own. Maybe there's a peaceful brood out there?
