Edit: These drop from Rare mobs on the Isle of Thunder, previously the rares gave you the Valor directly, I suppose these are to allow you to be at the cap yet still able gain valor, you just need to buy something then use these before the time limit is up (2hrs in game, tho it says 1hr here).

Use these as soon as you get them. I tried to loot one when I already had one in inventory, it told me I can't carry any more. When I used the one in inventory, I was no longer able to loot the new one from the fresh kill.

If you are at the Valor cap and you get one, you can not use it. It just mocks you in your inventory for 2 hours.

If you have Valor of the Ancients you will get 22 Valor Points instead of 15

blizzard should make these account bound. ive deleted 3 of these from my bags due to being valor cap for the week.

I noticed in the video guide that on the PTR rares just automatically awarded 15 Valor. I wonder why they changed it? That the Tomes are unique, not Account-bound, and have a duration of 1 hours all add up to make a rather tedious item.

Item no longer drops after patch 5.3 - the Valor Points are awarded directly to the player upon killing the rare NPCs.

Since 5.4, valor points "drop" from rares again instead of being awarded directly. I was unable to "loot" them since I was on 2990/3000
