Netherlight Crucible Overview
The values for the new shadow/light traits below are subject to change based on hotfix's/new information.
The
Netherlight Crucible
is a new system added in Patch 7.3. The Crucible allows you further empower your Artifact Weapon, by specializing and increasing the power from your relics. With it, each relic receives a small talent tree that you can select new traits from, depending how many traits your weapon have. Do not worry, however, because with the changes to
Artifact Knowledge
, unlocking the full power of the Crucible won't take long. Learn everything about this new system in our
Netherlight Crucible Guide
.
The traits unlock as you spend points into
Concordance of the Legionfall
. The first tier of unlocks happens as you unlock the crucible giving you +5 item level per relic. (total of 15 item levels).
With the opening of
Antorus, the Burning Throne
, it is now possible to obtain
Insignia of the Grand Army
, which increases the potency of your Tier 2 Crucible traits by 50%. It might be a really strong legendary if you are lucky with Netherlight Crucible rolls!
Tier 2 Traits
The Second tier of unlocks happens at 60,63,66
The traits unlock randomly but below is a rough priority for which traits to chose if given the choice between them. It is worth noting that as a healer the game will force at least one of your "Shadow" or "Holy" Traits to be a throughput increase, the other however can be a damage trait which is less useful as healers.
Holy:
Refractive Shell
Infusion of Light
Light Speed
Shocklight
Light's Embrace
Secure in the Light
Shadow:
Most of the Shadow traits are damage traits as such only two are actual throughput increases. Below you will find those two, the rest should be considered to be roughly a zero HPS gain. (Some have minor heal effects when you deal damage which will proc off of our damaging spells.) but they will not be impactful enough to notice.
Master of Shadows
Murderous Intent
As it stands right now taking
Master of Shadows
will always be the priority option being better than all of the Light traits AND all of the shadow traits, mastery being one of our best stats, and avoidance being extremely potent in dungeons and raids makes it a very potent option as of current tuning.
Tier 3 Traits
These traits unlock at 69,72,75 traits in your weapon. These mimic your "Bronze" traits, though they cannot roll the trait you already have on that relic. For these ones you should follow the same ordering as you would for relics. Remember in most cases your "Tier 2" traits will be better than your "Tier 3 Traits" so if it means taking one of the better "Tier 2 Traits" that leads into a zero throughput "Tier 3 trait" it is worth doing so.
Shock Treatment
- 3 Weapon Ilvl
Deliver the Light
- 2 Weapon Ilvl
Second Sunrise
- 2 Weapon Ilvl
Expel the Darkness
- 1 Weapon Ilvl
Tyr's Munificence
- 0.5 Weapon Ilvl
Justice through Sacrifice
- 0.2 Weapon Ilvl (3 Weapon Ilvl if using
Maraad's Dying Breath
)
Which Tier 2 traits do i choose?
Due to the large amount of RNG in this system it is difficult to have a "one size fits all" solution to which traits to choose. For the most part you should think about the traits in buckets, similar to legendarys. Below is also a ballpark range for item level value (on the weapon). Due to the nature of healing and encounter design the value of the traits fluctuate and so does their value. Meaning that the ilvl values given below will vary slightly. Remember in most cases your "Tier 2" traits will be better than your "Tier 3 Traits" so if it means taking one of the better "Tier 2 Traits" that leads into a zero throughput "Tier 3 trait" it is worth doing so.
Class A:
These are all tuned roughly to be equivalent, and any one of them is a very solid choice.
Master of Shadows
- 5 Weapon Ilvl
Light's Embrace
- 4 Weapon Ilvl
Infusion of Light
- 4 Weapon Ilvl
Light Speed
- 4 Weapon Ilvl
Class B:
These all provide a slight throughput gain but not as powerful as the A class traits.
Murderous Intent
- 4 Weapon Ilvl
Shocklight
- 3 Weapon Ilvl
Refractive Shell
- 3 Weapon Ilvl
Secure in the Light
- 2 Weapon Ilvl
Class C:
These traits all provide next to no throughput, and should be thought of as a zero, or near zero gain.
Chaotic Darkness
Torment the Weak
Dark Sorrows
Shadowbind
After you have selected your Tier 3 trait take the best option of the two Tier 3 traits you have using the above priority list (That is the same priority as you would when choosing relic traits before the Crucible).
Unfortunately the game can dish out a "bad roll" and it gets slightly more complicated to choose the correct traits. As it is entirely possible that your traits on the third row (The standard class specific "Bronze" traits) are placed in such a manner that you have to choose a shadow/light trait that provides zero throughput, in order to get to a "useful" bronze trait. In this case you will want to replace that relic if possible, but that takes time. Luckily, as a Holy Paladin most of our "Bronze" traits are rather weak, and all of the Class A: traits are more potent than one of said traits on their own. So it is worth it to choose a Class A: trait even if it leads to a zero throughput bronze trait. Ideally you are never placed in that situation, but it is a possibility.
