Transmogrification Guide: Dungeon Sets
By Wowhead
Last Updated:
2017/12/02
Patch: 5.4.0
Table of Contents
Rating:
Today's transmog guide covers all the armor sets that are acquired in dungeons across all expansions. Many of these sets do not have class-restrictions and resemble quest or class-specific tier gear, making them very popular among users, like
Judgement Armor (Recolor)
.
We've organized all the dungeon sets by expansion and type, as well as provided links when applicable to all of their sources. You can also mouseover the set's name to see an image of the set!
In addition, you can search for dungeon sets more easily now with our new
Dungeon Style
filters.

These replica sets are now BoE and don't have class restrictions.
Some models were also reused for heirlooms, like
Stained Shadowcraft Tunic
.
Some sets have a few lookalike items, such as

Classic Dungeon Sets
In classic WoW, many dungeons came with itemsets which provided set bonuses. Over time, some of these sets were removed when their dungeons were revamped, but most are available still in some form:
Scholomance sets are no longer available due to Scholomance's revamp in Mists of Pandaria. They didn't totally match in the first place, but held sentimental value
The
Defias set
is no longer available due to Deadmine's revamp in Cataclysm, although boots, pants, and gloves can be gotten through other means.
ZG class sets are now removed, but they reused artwork from several other armor sets that are still in game. The ones with distinctive pieces were brought back as ilvl 429 greens in 5.2.
The Scarlet Chain set was removed with Scarlet Monastery's revamp in Mists of Pandaria, but
The
Postmaster set
from Stratholme is still available, even after Stratholme's revamp in Cataclysm.
The
Embrace of the Viper
is still available from Wailing Caverns.
The
Ironweave Battlesuit
is a special set that could be collected from summonable bosses on the Dungeon Set 2 questline. Although that questline was removed in Cataclysm, the
Brazier of Invocation
and
Banner of Provocation
still work on six of the eight bosses.

Hour of Twilight Set
These sets were added in 4.3 to complement the Tier 13 raid,
Dragon Soul
. All items of a similar itemization share the same model and color.
Players can acquire most of these pieces from
Well of Eternity
,
Hour of Twilight
, and
End Time
. Players must be 85 to queue up.
Select pieces can be acquired from completing the following quests:
Murozond
,
Archival Purposes
,
To Wyrmrest!
,
Documenting the Timeways
,
The Path to the Dragon Soul
,
The Twilight Prophet
. These quests can only be completed once, so be mindful of what you select!
In Patch 5.1,
Bipsi's Gloves
were added as a Tailoring recipe. These are identical to
Archivist's Gloves
, used in
Whisperwind Regalia (Recolor)
. An alternative method of getting this style was added because
Archival Purposes
rewarded
Archivist's Gloves
in addition to the unique wand
Crescent Wand
.

Cataclysm Launch Dungeons
These sets were added at Cataclysm's launch as a way for players to get geared up for Tier 11 raiding. All items of a similar itemization share the same model and color.
This gear is available from the eight launch dungeons:
Blackrock Caverns
(min level 77),
Throne of the Tides
(77),
The Vortex Pinnacle
(80),
The Stonecore
(80),
Lost City of the Tol'vir
(83),
Grim Batol
(83),
The Deadmines
(10),
Shadowfang Keep
(11).
These bosses drop ilvl 346 gear on Heroic difficulty, which requires level 85 to access. Normal-mode bosses have their best drops capped at ilvl 333.
Unlike the
Hour of Twilight
sets, these launch sets are relatively easy to get, with multiple items for each slot.

Challenge Mode Sets
For completing
Challenge Conqueror: Gold
, you'll get a full eight-piece set of epic transmoggable gear.
These armor sets have unique visual procs when casting certain spells, which we've included video links to below.
This gear does not have any stats--it serves a purely cosmetic purpose.
This gear is initially mailed upon completion of the achievement--if you've lost it, you can buy it back from
Challenger Soong
or
Challenger Wuli
.
This gear is no longer available in Warlords of Draenor.

Pandaria Dungeons and Scenarios
All Pandaria gear from dungeons and scenarios uses the same artwork.
Dungeons: Players obtain these items from looting bosses in normal and heroic instances.
Scenarios: Players get rewards
Bulging Heroic Cache of Treasures
,
Greater Cache of Treasures
(random scenarios), and
Heroic Cache of Treasures
(first scenario if a heroic scenario). Make sure you have the correct loot specialization marked--you will not find spec-specific items like
