World Crusher will be cast at the beginning on Phase 1 and Phase 3. This ability will deal ~60k damage to Azeroth, and the whole raid.

Several pools of Blood of Azeroth will also appear around the room, which will need to be channeled back into Azeroth to heal it up.

Stepping into a Blood of Azeroth will cause it to start Surging Azerite, which will cause a Chain Lightning effect from the pool to nearby players and can be channeled all the way to Azeroth with enough players.

Each Blood of Azeroth contains three ticks of Surging Azerite. Each tick deals ~10k damage, and applies Azerite Radiation, a stacking debuff that increases damage and healing done by 3% per stack, and increasing damage taken from Surging Azerite by 100% for 30 seconds.

Mythic also introduces Phase 4, which will happen when The Jailer reaches 10% health.

Phase 1Blood of Azeroth

In Phase 1, there will be a total of 6 pools of Blood of Azeroth. Setting up “chains” of players to channel each Blood of Azeroth into the center of the room will be fairly simple in this phase.

Your raid will need a group of 5 players to channel the ranged Blood of Azeroth, while everyone else will channel the one closer to The Jailer.

The players assigned to the ranged Blood of Azeroth should have their specific spot in the chain of players, assigned from closest to the pool all the way to Azeroth.

For the melee Blood of Azeroth, we recommend having a healer be the one who steps into the pool, the next closest players should be the off-tank, followed by the clump of melee players, then any combination of ranged and healers to finish off the chain to connect it to Azeroth.

Blood of Azeroth

This phase consists of 4 sets of channels for Blood of Azeroth, as outlined below.

Blood of Azeroth 1: These two channels should happen at 0:25, shortly after taking the Demonic Gateway to get out of Chains of Oppression.

Blood of Azeroth 2: This set should happen at 1:10, shortly after players with Rune of Damnation are able to get back into position.

Blood of Azeroth 3: This is the most difficult soak of this phase, as it will happen at 1:45, which happens right after players have to hide from The Jailer for Relentless Domination. Shortly after the channel, Tyranny will be cast, requiring players to spread out before collapsing back on the tank to split the damage for Martyrdom.

Blood of Azeroth 4: This one is another easy one which happens at 2:20, right after the raid uses Demonic Gateway to move out of Chains of Oppression, similar to the first one of the phase.

On Mythic, your raid will need to assign each player to a specific pylon conduit for each Rune of Damnation due to having 5 players get the debuff each time the ability is cast..

We recommend using the pylon conduits outlined in the image below for each set of Rune of Damnation.

To quickly assign players to each pylon conduit, please use the WeakAura provided in the WeakAuras section.

Splitting the damage of Misery during the tank combo will apply a debuff called Relentless Misery, which increases the damage taken from Misery by 5,000% for 1 min.

This change will require your raid to alternate which tank and players are used to split the damage of Misery each time it is cast.

The first cast, and subsequent odd numbered casts, should be the “melee” one, soaked by the first tank and 6 melee DPS/healers. The second, and subsequent even numbered cats, should be soaked by the second tank and 7 ranged players who are not assigned to channeling the Blood of Azeroth.

Tyranny

On Mythic difficulty, being hit by 2 lines of Tyranny will cause players to be mind controlled by Domination.

This change will require players to spread out after each cast of Relentless Domination, which happens 3 times in this phase.

After the third cast of Relentless Domination, melee players should be spread along the edge of the platform, while ranged players should be spread on either side of The Jailer. This positioning, as shown below, will minimize the chances of being hit by two lines of Tyranny.

Relentless DominationPhase 2Blood of Azeroth - Phase 2

World Cracker in Phase 2, is similar to World Crusher from Phase 1, except it will deal far less damage and only spawn 2 Blood of Azeroth pools per cast. This will require the raid to move around the room as new pools are spawned.

Blood of Azeroth

If there are any Blood of Azeroth pools active when The Jailer casts Unholy Attunement, he will gain a 6 million damage shield.

For Phase 2, you will need to assign a total of 8 ranged players (as few healers as possible) to channel the Blood of Azeroth into the center.

One set of 4 players will always be ahead of The Jailer, while the other set of 4 will be trailing. This is because The Jailer will always be placed halfway between the two puddles due to Tainted Azerite.

Surging Azerite

Tainted Azerite will cause Azerite to erupt from players who are struck by Surging Azerite. Tainted Azerite will erupt in four directions from the player, allowing the player to aim which direction the Azerite should travel in.

Players should face about 30 - 40 degrees away from the player standing closer to the center from them, as shown in the diagram below.

In this phase, it is important to sync the timings of channeling the Blood of Azeroth to cause Tainted Azerite to travel from all players at the same time, allowing everyone to move to a safe location.

Blood of Azeroth channels should always happen right after players are freed from Rune of Compulsion. The timing for each is listed below:
Blood of Azeroth 1: 3:40

Blood of Azeroth 2: 4:25

Blood of Azeroth 3: 4:46

Blood of Azeroth 4: 4:55

Phase 2 Strategy

The main difficulty of this phase is managing the slew of overlapping abilities throughout the encounter.

Rune of Compulsion will be one of the more challenging abilities, because they become a DPS check to break players free, otherwise Blood of Azeroth channels will fall behind.

We recommend players with Rune of Compulsion to move under The Jailer, where crowd control can be used to keep them in place until they’re broken. We prefer using an aoe stun, such as Leg Sweep, followed by Warrior Spear of Bastion. AoE slows such as Death and Decay can be used to also keep players in place.

Rune of Compulsion happens about 50 seconds apart, so make sure to allocate damage to each set.

This phase will mostly consist of breaking players out of Rune of Compulsion as quickly as possible so they can channel Blood of Azeroth while rotating around the room as new Blood of Azeroth appears.

Phase 2 Difficult Overlaps

Right after the third Rune of Compulsion set is applied to the raid, The Jailer will cast Torment and Decimator at the same time. For this set players should use knockback mitigating abilities, or make sure they are in a spot where the Decimator will not knock them into the Torment explosion.

The fourth set of Rune of Compulsion will be applied to players right after The Jailer casts Torment, meaning the players will have to stack under The Jailer with the debuff active. During this set all other players will need to be mindful of safe areas to spread to. Shortly after Rune of Compulsion is applied, The Jailer will also open the covers on the pylon conduits. This means the mind controlled players should be crowd controlled between holes to avoid them falling down and dying.

Phase 3World Shatterer

This ability is similar to World Crusher from Phase 1, where it deals a large amount of damage and spawns several Blood of Azeroth pools around the room.

During this phase, the raid will have to alternate between using two separate groups, and only one group to channel the Blood of Azeroth into the center.

For each tick of Surging Azerite that strikes the center, a set of Expelled Corruptions will shoot out from the center and travel towards the edge. These are projectiles with gaps between them that the players must dodge. Being hit will deal ~60k damage and silence the player.

Blood of Azeroth 1: this one will require the whole raid to channel it at 7:00. We suggest using a healer as the anchor point, followed by a ranged, melee player clump, then a chain of 4 mobile ranged classes.

Blood of Azeroth

Blood of Azeroth 2: will happen at 7:23, which is unique because this will mean the stacks will not have time to reset. With this channel the whole raid should go up to 6 stacks of Azerite Radiation, providing a significant damage increase. Since this channel happens while Incarnation of Torments are active, we recommend having the two tanks being the closest to the Blood of Azeroth, followed by the melee clump, then a chain of 4 ranged players leading to the center.

Blood of Azeroth

Blood of Azeroth 3: should happen at 7:55, where the ranged and melee split into two groups, similar to Phase 1. To make it easier, one of the two chains can opt to not connect to the center to make avoiding Expelled Corruption easier. Both Blood of Azeroths should still be soaked, and players assigned to stand near them for the damage buff from Surging Azerite.

Blood of AzerothPhase 3 Strategy & Walkthrough

At the beginning of the phase, The Jailer should be moved closed to the area walled off by Unholy Attunement.

Decimator will also cause Falling Debris to appear around the area of impact. This interaction will be important throughout the phase when baiting Decimator.

Decimator will always be cast in the general area of a random ranged player, so positioning ranged players in specific spots will allow Decimator to go in desired locations.

During the cast of World Shatterer, all players should move into the spot shown in the clip below to bait Decimator. This positioning will leave a sliver of space for melee players to stand between Falling Debris, before joining up with the ranged.

The Jailer should be moved into position near the Blood of Azeroth, and all players should stand in front of him to split the damage Desolation does to Azeroth. The Jailer will cast Chains of Anguish, which should be instantly snapped by the targeted tank. This is usually done by a Monk or other high mobility Tank. As soon as the Desolation cast is complete all players must get into position to channel the Blood of Azeroth into the center at 7:00.

Right after dodging the Expelled Corruption, The Jailer will cast Defile at a random ranged player, at which point the whole raid should utilize the Demonic Gateway placed near the raid, as shown in the diagram below.

Defile

10 players will get the Torment debuff, which will now spawn adds that must be interrupted. We suggest doubling up players to save space, since these adds cannot be knocked on Mythic difficulty. Using a WeakAura to assign players with Torments into pairs will make this much easier. Make sure the whole raid is on the same page when orienting themselves based on the WeakAura.

Torment

If done correctly, there will be 5 groups of two Incarnation of Torments. AoE crowd controls, such as Leg Sweep, Solar Beam, and other stuns and silences should be assigned to each group to interrupt the Cry of Loathing casts.

Right after the Torments explode, players must quickly get into position to channel the Blood of Azeroth into the middle at 7:23. Since this means all players will go up to 6 stacks, we suggest assigning several healing and damage reduction to survive.

Ranged players must bait the Decimator cast towards the side of the previous Defile, then move to the edge of the room to bait Defile. After Defile is cast, the whole raid will move towards the next set of Blood of Azeroth. Right after starting to move The Jailer will cast Chains of Anguish, two of which should be broken immediately, leaving the other 2 to expire.

About halfway, The Jailer will cast Rune of Domination of 3 players. We recommend splitting your raid in about half, with some players standing in a “melee” group, and the rest in a “ranged” group. Two players with Rune of Dominations should split onto the assigned camps, while the third should stand slightly off to the side and just split the absorb with the off-tank.

The healing absorb from Rune of Domination should be healed before players get in position for the third Blood of Azeroth channel at 7:55.

Once again, a Decimpator cast will be followed by a Defile cast which ranged players must bait towards the edge of the room. Shortly after this The Jailer will cast another Desolation which will coincide with the last 2 Chains of Anguish expiring. All players must stand in front of The Jailer to split the Desolation damage.

Shortly after, The Jailer will cast Chains of Anguish. We recommend snapping 2 chains quickly, and 2 while The Jailer is transitioning to Phase 4.

Aim to push The Jailer to 10% before he casts the next ability. Make sure there is a healing reduction, such as Mortal Strike, present on The Jailer when he reaches 10% to minimize the amount he heals with Diverted Life Shard.

Phase 4 Abilities

Phase 4 introduces Death Sentence, a debuff that each time it is dispelled, or the player with it dies, spawns 2 projectiles that must be caught, otherwise they wipe the raid. The debuff itself deals increasing damage over time, and instantly kills the player when it expires.

Death Sentence will need to be managed by dispelling at specific times, and having assigned players catch the projectiles.

Meteor Cleave is another new ability, which is a frontal cleave that deals a large amount of damage split between the players it strikes. Anyone struck will also be launched a long distance in the direction of the Meteor Cleave.

Torment in this phase will cause players to also spawn a pool of Defile under their location upon expiration.

Rune of Damnation functions the same way as Phase 1, except the configuration of opel pylons will be different in this phase.

Decimator and Falling Debris are also present in this phase.

Phase 4 Strategy & Walkthrough

After The Jailer heals to 18%, any remaining Chains of Anguish should be quickly snapped.

Tanks should move The Jailer to the slice of platform in front of the entrance. This part can be quickly recognized because it will have the pylon conduit (holes) configuration shown in the diagram below.

Rune of Damnation

The tank should aim Meteor Cleave back towards the direction the raid just came from, and all players without Rune of Damnation should get in to split the damage. Make sure the tank aims the frontal in a way that it doesn’t knock players into holes.

The Jailer will cast a Decimator, after which all players should move out of the Falling Debris by following The Jailer.

Tanks should move The Jailer over by 2 “slices” towards the Defile that is still present from Phase 3. This Defile will disappear shortly after getting close to it.

Before the second set of Rune of Damnation is cast, the player with Death Sentence should be dispelled, and the two tanks should stand in the two circles that appear to pick up the debuff. No other players should stand in these circles.

Rune of Damnation can be handled the same way as Phase 1 in the slice the raid is standing in, after which Torment will be applied to most of the raid.

Players should drop Torment behind The Jailer, towards the edges of the room if possible. The Jailer will cast a Decimator, which the raid will move out of by starting to move counter-clockwise.

Before the second Torment is cast, the tanks with Death Sentence should stand on a closed pylon conduit and get dispelled. The resulting 4 debuffs should be caught by the two tanks, and 2 durable ranged dps, such as Warlocks.

The following Torment should be placed close to the previous puddles of Defile, after which all players should get in front of The Jailer for the Meteor Cleave, which should be pointing away from the Defile. Use a movement speed cooldown to get into position.

The third set of Rune of Domination should jump into any open pylon conduits. Just make sure to get in a hole to avoid wiping the raid.

Right after players get back to The Jailer, the four players with Death Sentence should stand on a closed pylon conduit and be dispelled by using Mass Dispel. 8 circles will appear, and the 4 players who had the debuffs should stand in the close circles, while other players just ensure there is 1 person per circle to avoid Death Sentence from killing the raid.

Next will be the last Torment cast of the phase, which should be placed along the edge of the room, after which players should move back and get in front of The Jailer for a Meteor Cleave.

Boss should be killed around this time, since any further abilities will be extremely difficult to survive.

Role StrategiesHealer

During Phase 1 the majority of the damage will come from Suffering, Surging Azerite, and Torment. Players with Rune of Damnation will be at the highest risk of dying to Torment.

Make sure healing cooldowns are assigned to difficult overlaps around Martyrdom.

Phase 2 damage taken will mostly revolve around Unholy Eruption casts. These will become more dangerous throughout the phase and will require healing cooldowns to survive.

Allocating healing cooldowns to Unholy Eruptions will leave players dealing with Blood of Azeroth extremely vulnerable while they’re channeling the Surging Azerite. Assigned players are usually at high risk, requiring spot healing, and even smaller cooldowns to survive.

Phase 3 is the lowest damage part of the encounter, thus allowing the raid to allocate more healing cooldowns for specific abilities.

World Shatterer, Desolation, and Chains of Anguish at the beginning of the phase should be covered by healing cooldowns.

The first Torment set should also be covered by healing cooldowns, since players will be doubling up, and the Torment explosion will be followed by a 6 stacks of Surging Azerite.

From here throughput cooldowns should be used on the set of Rune of Damnation.

During Phase 4, all raid cooldowns should be assigned to Meteor Cleave casts, and to keeping players with Death Sentence alive. This phase tends to be more volatile, so using healing cooldowns as needed can be a better option than having strict assignments here.

Tank

Tanking this boss is a series of choreographed movements from start to finish. I highly recommend studying the movement for each phase based on a VOD as you’re progressing the encounter.

Since positioning and movement is the most important part of this encounter, it is best to know where The Jailer should be after each ability. The first Martyrdom should be placed near the first Blood of Azeroth soak. The third Martyrdom will happen right after the second cast of Relentless Domination, which will require the tank to move it near the Blood of Azeroth to stay out of range of Tyranny lines.

The second and fourth Martyrdoms will be soaked by ranged and there shouldn’t need to be any special movements for it, so we generally suggest having the less mobile tank take these.

Before the final Relentless Domination, move The Jailer close to the edge of the platform for players to be able to spread out safely.

For Phase 2 use Shattering Blast on the pylons as shown in the diagram below.

Shattering Blast

When players are channeling Blood of Azeroth, The Jailer should be positioned about halfway between the two groups, allowing both ranged groups to be in range during their channels. This positioning will also allow melee to safely avoid the Tainted Azerite.

When Phase 3 starts, The Jailer should be moved close to the area blocked off by Unholy Ground, then after the Decimator is cast he should be moved near the Blood of Azeroth.

The Chains of Anguish should be instantly snapped by the affected tank.

When Torment is cast, The Jailer should be placed in the center of the pentagon formed by the players with the debuff.

After the Decimator cast, The Jailer can be moved towards the next Blood of Azeroth. Make sure to pause for a brief moment when Chains of Anguish is being cast, and allow sturdy melee dps to stand on top of the tank. This will ensure Chains of Anguish goes on players who can survive and have good mobility to snap them.

From here The Jailer should just be moved towards the third Blood of Azeroth, pausing for Rune of Domination when it is being cast.

Place The Jailer in position for the Desolation, then move him to the third Blood of Azeroth before phasing.

When Phase 4 starts, move The Jailer to the correct slice. It will usually be 1 - 2 slices further from where Phase 3 ended.

Point the first Meteor Cleave back towards the area you just came from, then once the Decimator is cast move The Jailer clockwise almost all the way to the Defile from Phase 3.

After the Torment combo you will reverse directions and start rotating The Jailer the opposite way, always pointing Meteor Cleave away from the Defile.
