Avenging Wrath and a build playing Avenging Crusader for each Hero Talent. The Avenging Wrath builds are the recommend options as they provide more controlled and better spot healing, and they have a higher potential AoE damage output. The Avenging Crusader options are good for players who don't care to completely push the spec to its limits but enjoy the battle-healer fantasy.

Dealing with Xal'atath's Bargains as a Holy Paladin

Holy Paladins have different tools to deal with Dungeon affixes and to help their group with them. You can check a couple of highlights below.

To deal with Xal'atath's Bargain: Ascendant you and your group will need to stop the Orbs from finishing their casts. This can be achieved best by interrupting or crowd controlling them. Blinding Light is a great way to stop many of them at once, but you can also use Rebuke or Hammer of Justice to stop individual ones.

There isn't anything special you can do to help with this affix. You should simply try to do as much damage as you can when it is up to help get rid of it as fast as possible.

For this affix you simply need to collect orbs that spawn, before they reach the enemy mobs. You do this by simply running into them or intercepting them as they come flying in. Using Divine Steed can be a good way to help soak multiple of them at once.

This affix places a debuff on every player, which needs to be removed before it expires. This debuff is removed by either dispelling, or healing each target a certain amount. It is not an actual healing absorb, it is just a set amount of healing that needs to be done to each respective player before it is removed. Beacon of Virtue is a great way to heal every player at once and get rid of the debuff quickly. In a pinch you can also use Divine Shield but that should never really be needed.

Holy Paladin Viability In Mythic+

Holy Paladin is looking to be quite strong going into Season 1 of The War Within. Our healing profile with Herald of the Sun is fantastic and we have tools to deal capably with both heavy AoE and single target healing scenarios. Our damage is decent when you factor in Blessing of Summer, but Sun's Avatar from Herald of the Sun, or Divine Guidance from Lightsmith, will also be able to add up to a lot of extra damage.

We have a good utility toolkit for Mythic+, including things like Intercession, Blinding Light, and Hammer of Justice. We are also very tanky and we bring a decent external in Blessing of Sacrifice, and a physical immunity in Blessing of Protection that can be used to prevent DPS players from overaggroing the tank or to make someone immune to bleeds or other physical damage.

Healing in Mythic+ as Holy Paladin is all about managing your cooldowns and spacing them out so you can cover all the potential damage events. Overusing cooldowns can and will leave you struggling in the near future. You can read more about cooldown management on the Rotation page and the DPS'ing as Healer page.

Holy Paladin Mythic+ Utility

Blinding Light, Hammer of Justice, and Rebuke

All three of these spells are very powerful for stopping dangerous casts and you should make heavy use of them all. Blinding Light can be used to stop multiple mobs casting at once, but it does break as soon as the mobs take damage. Hammer of Justice, like Rebuke, is extremely good at stopping specific mob casts. Combined with Fist of Justice, Hammer of Justice also becomes a much shorter cooldown if picked.

Blessing of Sacrifice, Blessing of Protection and Blessing of Freedom

Blessing of Sacrifice combined with Echoing Blessings becomes a 41% damage reduction. Needless to say, this is incredibly powerful, and it is a spell you should use to help not just the tank, but also the DPS players live hard hitting mechanics. If you aren't sure when to use this, then I recommend just sending it close to on cooldown so you get used to using it, then you can always make adjustments later as you will quickly notice when you used it well, and when you used it poorly.
You should keep in mind that it can hurt yourself a lot, especially when used on the tank, and your own personal defensive, does not reduce the damage it does to you.

Blessing of Protection can be used in a lot of different ways. One of the main uses of this is to remove certain debuffs, like deadly bleeds or other physical debuffs from an ally. However always keep in mind that the person you cast it on loses all aggro for the duration of the effect. This means that it should never be cast on the tank unless the tank themself ask for it or if agreed to beforehand. The fact that Blessing of Protection causes aggro loss can also be used to your advantage as using it on a dps early in a pull will allow them to go all out on dealing damage without worrying about overaggroing.

Blessing of Freedom can be used to remove roots and movement slows. One important use of it this Season, is at the last boss in The Necrotic Wake. The boss will periodically cast Frozen Binds, but if you cast Blessing of Freedom on the targeted player before the cast finishes, it will completely negate the mechanic. If you fail to cast it prior to the Frozen Binds cast finishing, then it will root everyone in the circle. So keep an eye on the boss timer and be ready to hold a global or two before the ability happens.

Divine Shield

Divine Shield can be used in several different ways, the most obvious being to simply help yourself to stay alive in an emergency or when you have made a mistake and stood in a swirl. But another very powerful usage in Mythic+ is to basically use it as a “healing” cooldown, due to the fact that there are only 5 players in a group that essentially makes Divine Shield a 20% overall damage reduction. Not having to worry about your own health can be extremely helpful for staying alive through heavy group wide damage.
Divine Shield can also be used to negate the damage from Blessing of Sacrifice, which can often be a good idea when using Blessing of Sacrifice on a Blood Death Knight or Vengeance Demon Hunter, but is otherwise not usually recommened.

I think you should include repentance as a utility, it is very useful for weeks where add control is important. It is as effective as a freezing trap, poly, etc. Otherwise, this guide looks good!

Another suggestion, I would include a side note about bestow faith. Casting bestow faith on a target and then casting beacon of virtue right before it goes off is a very effective way to get some crazy burst healing across your group, and is especially nice on weeks where high movement is required.

There's no reason for you guys to put the exact same build in all the m+ dungeon section, just put a "Every build is the same for every dungeon" instead and link a build to that.

I'm trying to figure out why this article gives 8 Mythic+ talent recommendations when players are limited to 7 total talent configurations. And does that mean the author assumes a player won't raid or PvP, so no talent slots need to be reserved for those activities? I depend on Wowhead articles for concise, clear, quick advice and the multiple configurations presented here are anything but

Just play range and mana isn't a issue. Mobility also not.
