Recommended Holy Paladin WeakAuras
WeakAuras2 is an extremely flexible addon, with near limitless creative potential and control, capable of replicating or replacing nearly any part of the user interface. While designed as a simple way to create alerts to remind you of buffs, debuff, or encounter mechanics, it has become an integral part of World of Warcraft user interface customization, allowing players to replace their traditional action bars, create and share complex raid information, track other players spell casts, and much, much more. In this section, we've highlighted some of the best WeakAuras for Holy Paladin, although there are so many different options available that we
highly
recommend visiting
wago.io
to find one that best suits your needs.
WeakAuras Links
Remember that no Weakauras are ever mandatory to play with, but they can help you personalize how you want to track buffs, debuffs, spell cooldowns, and much more. I will link some of the most useful weakauras here, but I highly encourage you to look through
Wago.io
and search for what ever weakaura you would like. Especially keep an eye out for weakauras from
Fatpala
and
Ellesmere
as they make some great weakauras.
Name & Link
Example
Description
Fatpalas Holy Power Bar
A weakaura that tracks Holy Power effectively is probably the most important single you could have. This one from Fatpala is great as it also includes a countdown for Holy Power granted by effects such as
Divine Resonance
.
Ellesmeres Beacon Reminder
This is a simple but important weakaura that just reminds you to cast your Beacons in case you forget it or if the person who had one on dies.
Fatpalas Awakening Tracker
Another useful weakaura from Fatpala, this one tracks your stacks of
Awakening
and tells you when you can activate wings with
Judgment
.
Infusion of Light Tracker
This is a simple tracker for
Infusion of Light
which is always handy.
Recommended Holy Paladin Macros
Macros are simple, in-game tools which allow you to sequence spells together, create custom names and icons, cast different abilities depending on whether the target is friendly or hostile, define targeting conditions, and much, much more.
For more information on creating macros, including full lists of conditionals, modifiers, and other command customizations you can use, check out our full Macros guide.
Mouseover Macros
Although it's not necessary, using mouseover macros for all of your heals is preferred. The macro for each ability looks the same except for the name of the ability. I recommend that you use mouseover macros for all of your healing spells.
#showtooltip
/cast Holy Shock
Blessing of Summer
For
Blessing of Summer
you can use a simple mouse over macro like the ones above, or if you want to be able to cast the various Blessings on yourself without having to target or mouseover yourself, you can use this. It will cycle through the different Seasons automatically.
#showtooltip Blessing of Summer
/use Blessing of Summer
This one will cast the blessings on your mouseover target if you have one, otherwise it will just cast on yourself.
If you want to use them all on yourself without worrying about mouseovers, that is also completely fine. You can use this macro for that:
#showtooltip Blessing of Summer
/use Blessing of Summer
Lightsmith - Holy Armaments
With Lightsmith you gain
Holy Bulwark
and
Sacred Weapon
to cast. Using this macro will automatically cycle through them, just like the Blessing of Summer macro above.
#showtooltip Holy Bulwark
/cast
Holy Prism and Barrier of Faith
Since
Holy Prism
and
Barrier of Faith
are now on a choice node, you will never be able to have both spells at once, so baking them in to one macro is an easy way to save a keybind.
#showtooltip
/cast Barrier of Faith
/cast Holy Prism
Lay on Hands
As
Lay on Hands
is an important life saving emergency spell, it is imperative that it is cast as soon as you press it. As such having a /stopcast line in the macro will help prevent you from being caught mid cast when you need it. You can do the same for other emergency spells such as
Divine Shield
and
Blessing of Protection
.
#showtooltip
/stopcast
/cast Lay on Hands
Recommended Holy Paladin Addons
Addons are powerful tools that can customize your gameplay experience, ranging from graphical overlays, replacement action bars, and unit/raid frames to performance enhancements such as rotation helping spell reminders, buff/debuff tracking, popup reminders, and boss warnings. Here are some of the highly recommended and commonly used Holy Paladin addons, which are certainly not required to play, but can go a long way toward increasing the information available to you in combat or simply make for a more pleasant viewing experience.
Unlike Macros, managing Addons is done outside of the game, but our How to Install and Maintain Addons Guide will take you step-by-step through the process.
Addons are a tricky one, everyone should find what works for
them
personally. So it is highly personal what addons you choose and how to set them up. Below I will go through some of the popular addons and addons that I myself use. If you are more comfortable with the default UI, it's not a bad option and you should generally use what you are comfortable with.
ElvUI
One of the most popular addons is more a UI package. This is Elvui, it is not just a single addon but a collection of them, that ultimately contains everything you would want, Party frames, Raid Frames, Actionbar, Bag addons etc. It also has a more "Modern" skin by default, and is highly customizable for more information check out.
For a download link and Screenshots.
Raid Frames
The most important addon as a healer is your Raid Frames. This is the element of your UI you will be interacting with the most, as such it is ideal you find one you like to use. Many people like to use Elvui's raid frames and turn everything else off. But some other great ones are
Vuhdo
Grid 2
Cell
Similarly, most people like to use another separate for their other unit frames, such as, your own, your target, focus and boss frames.
Shadowed Unit Frames
Nameplates
Having your nameplates be easily readable at a glance can be incredibly helpful, especially in Mythic+ where you often need to kick and stun specific mobs on specific casts.
Plater
is the best and most mordern nameplate addon out there and it is highly customizable with colourization on specific mobs and casts.
You can find profiles for it on
Wago.io
.
Meters
Details!
This one is probably the most common and modern damage meter.
Boss Mods
I highly recommend if you are going to be doing any kind of raiding you pick up one of the two below addons, it has timers for each individual boss helping out a ton!
Deadly Boss Mods
BigWigs Bossmods
Clique
Clique
is an addon that lets you bind abilities and macros to a mouse press, eliminating the need in some cases for a mouseover macro. With Dragonflight, Blizzard implemented their own attempt at this addon to the game, but the addon still works much better in my opinion.
