Arcane Mage Amirdrassil Boss Tips

Gnarlroot

Gnarlroot Build

Gnarlroot is a 2 stage encounter with a mix of Single Target and AoE. Phase 1 is a straightforward phase with adds you can activate with Controlled Burn. In phase 2, any left over adds spawn and Doom Cultivation causes roots to form that need to be burned with Ember-Charred. At the end of phase 2, the boss takes double damage via Uprooted Agony. For this we'll run an AOE heavy build as the adds are what is most likely to kill anyone, no specific utility is needed for this encounter.
Arcane Mage Tips and Tricks for Gnarlroot

Use a small defensive like Mirror Image, Prismatic Barrier, or Mass Barrier if targeted by Controlled Burn. On Heroic or above, stand on dormant adds as this expires to spawn them before the intermission.
Stand in Splintering Charcoal to prevent them from landing without being caught and gain Ember-Charred. Move to Doom Roots with this debuff to burn roots.
Shimmer can be used to get through roots. Alter Time is also great to set on roots, then run to a Splintering Charcoal, alter back to remove them quickly.

Use Greater Invisibility or Ice Cold as the boss is about to phase. All adds that aren't already spawned will cause heavy raid damage as you enter phase 2.
Once the roots are all burned, the boss takes double damage with Uprooted Agony. Try to have Arcane Surge up for this.

Mythic

Make sure you go for the furthest soaks, this will reduce your pull count a lot.
Feel free to focus on adds throughout the fight, they need to die and are dangerous to keep alive.

Igira the Cruel

Igira the Cruel Build

Igira the Cruel is a Single Target boss with a choose-your-own-adventure style mechanic called Marked for Torment. Beware of Blistering Spear, since this damage coupled with other mechanics can be deadly, this mechanic is really the most lethal part of the fight. One of the torments Igira can inflict on you is Heart Stopper, this gives players a healing absorb shield that explodes once it is removed. We'll take our normal cookie-cutter single target build and change out Mana Adept for Arcing Cleave, however spears shouldn't last long enough for us to invest in AOE damage more than this, no specific utility is needed for this encounter.

Mythic

There are no specific mythic tips for Arcane here, just be more vigilant about the mechanic overlaps and pump damage onto those Spears!

Volcoross

Volcoross Build

Volcoross is a Single Target encounter that forces the raid into two groups to soak Flood of the Firelands. Both teams will circle around the room and meet back up in the end. Beware of lava and the bosses tail. When the tail rises, a large shadow forms and Scorchtail Crash slams down. Stay spread for Coiling Flames. Note: On Mythic, this mechanic ends with a group soak. Full single target build and no specific utility requirement.
Arcane Mage Tips and Tricks for Volcoross

Serpent's Fury happens every minute or so and deals heavy damage. Use Alter Time to counter it.
Use defensives like Mirror Image, Prismatic Barrier, or Mass Barrier for soaking Flood of the Firelands.
Ice Floes and Blink should be used to avoid lava, and dodge the Scorchtail Crash.
Coiling Flames can be really dangerous if you are stacked. Greater Invisibility if you feel you are in danger.
Ice Block or Ice Cold should be saved for emergencies, and used anytime you are about to die.
Mythic Note: Ice Block can be used to solo your own Coiling Flames soak, though this shouldn't really be needed as the soak doesn't do a ton of damage when soaked by the group.

Due to the hitbox design of this boss, it may be possible to fit additional spells into the beginning of Touch of the Magi, this is still being tested.

Mythic

There are no specific Arcane mythic tips here, stay with your group and soak ethically; do damage!

Council of Dreams

Council of Dreams Build

Council of Dreams is a hectic fight with three bosses. Two of them will move where they please and are not tanked, but Urctos can be positioned. Each of the bosses need to be killed within a small window (Rebirth) or they all heal, so try to keep damage even. Each boss has an ultimate ability they use once their energy fills. These ultimate abilities can be undermined by the other bosses abilities (for instance: Polymorph Bomb can be used to stop Blind Rage). Barreling Charge needs to be group soaked, Poisonous Javelin needs to be taken out of the raid, and Song of the Dragon can be broken by taking avoidable damage.

For this we'll run the same build we ran for Igira to be able to cleave when it's available, but the bosses are never stacked enough to invest in AOE, no utility is specifically required for this fight, simply do the mechanics and the fight is easy.

Arcane Mage Tips and Tricks for Council of Dreams

Blind Rage and Barreling Charge are the most deadly mechanics in this encounter. Barreling Charge is physical damage and will hit us harder than most. Mage has many defensives to deal with this so always use one of the following: Mirror Image, Prismatic Barrier, Mass Barrier, Alter Time, Greater Invisibility, or Ice Cold.
When targeted by Poisonous Javelin, use Alter Time, run out for a dispel, then Alter Time back.

Larodar, Keeper of the Flame is a two stage encounter with a brief intermission. It is mostly Single Target with adds that spawn periodically in both phases. In phase 1, Fiery Treants spawn and need to be killed quickly so they can be healed. Once they are healed, they will activate the Seed of Life which can be used by a team of 3 players to extinguish the flames around the room and the Scorching Roots that chase players. Be on the lookout for Blazing Coalescence flame orbs, which provide a crit buff.

At 100 energy, the boss casts Raging Inferno, which wipes the raid unless you have healed the Renewed Bramble Barrier up until it creates the safe zone (Nature's Bulwark).

Once the boss has lost enough health, the intermission activates and Consuming Flame pulls players in. During the last phase, the boss ramps in damage, summons Ashen Treants which leave behind Burning Ground and explode when killed, spawns Falling Embers which need to be soaked, and puts out a nasty healing absorb called Flash Fire.

Because of the availability of AOE here you may find your guild needs more or less, choose your talents based on that need, as with most fights this tier, no specific utility is required. On mythic, however, we'll want to run a bit of a hybrid build for burst cleave on demand without giving up too much single targete. Due to how Time Warp is used on this encounter, we'll take Time Anomaly. We also want Blast Wave on mythic with Volatile Detonation specifically is very nice for knocking the adds, as they're about to die, towards the seed.

Arcane Mage Tips and Tricks for Larodar

Raging Inferno still does a lot of damage even when shielded. Mirror Image with Prismatic Barrier/Mass Barrier and Alter Time mostly counters it but if you need more use Greater Invisibility or Ice Cold.
Blazing Coalescence is a percentage Critical Strike buff, which is perfect for Arcane Surge.
Greater Invisibility should be used if you have to cross flame, soak Falling Embers, or take avoidable damage.
Don't let the Scorching Roots catch you! If you get rooted, Blink can be used to break the root, but it isn't necessary.
In the last phase, Ring of Frost and Frost Nova can be used to crowd control Ashen Treants.

Mythic

Knock the adds towards the seed in the middle as they die with Blast Wave to get them healing the seed as soon as possible.
Don't send cooldowns as you approach 35% so you can send them with Time Warp to end phase 2 as quickly as possible.

Nymue

Nymue Build

Nymue, Weaver of the Cycle is a mostly Single Target encounter with two phases that repeat until the boss is killed. The floor on this encounter is covered with lines called Verdant Matrix that deal damage when crossed. These lines are used to soften the blow of Threads of Life and can be crossed safely if covered with Inflorescence. Surging Growth also need to be soaked to reduce the overall raid damage. Generally speaking, it's best to spread out, so you can stand in Surging Growth without crossing a line.

During phase two, Cycle Wardens spawn and the boss takes less damage with Life Ward. When this happens, the raid needs to spit and kill both adds at the same time. After this, the fight repeats. This is a fully single target fight with no utility requirement.
Arcane Mage Tips and Tricks for Nymue

Use Blink/Shimmer to avoid getting stacks of Verdant Matrix and to skip over Impending Loom.
Use a defensive like Greater Invisibility or Ice Cold if you get high stacks of Verdant Matrix.
Continuum does a lot of damage. Mage has many defensives to deal with this so always use one of the following: Mirror Image, Prismatic Barrier, Mass Barrier, Alter Time, or Greater Invisibility.

Mythic

Arcane is very specifically good at killing the third back add on mythic as it lines up with our second Time Warp usage.

Smolderon

Smolderon Build

Smolderon is a fast paced, high intensity Single Target encounter with two phases. This boss does a lot of damage and it is very important that you avoid taking extra damage. During this encounter, the room will fill with Smoldering Ground, which can't be removed. Making good use of the space you have is just as important as dealing good damage.

Phase one is the main phase of the fight, and lasts a little over a minute. This phase has two main mechanics to deal with as a damage dealer, Brand of Damnation and Overheated. Half the raid will get Overheated, which forces them to run and spread out, as to not Flame Waves the raid. The other half need to help soak the Brand of Damnation with the tank, causing them to get a huge healing absorb (Cauterizing Wound). While this is happening, Lava Geysers will also erupt. On Mythic, Seeking Inferno will also chase players, causing an explosion once the player makes contact with the orb. These explosions must be staggered.

A short time after the second Brand of Damnation, the boss will walk to the center of the room and begin phase 2 with a knockback that spawns 5 Living Flames from each player. This phase is even shorter than phase 1, and mainly functions as a time to deal heavy damage to the boss. Each Living Flame you collect gives a 20% damage increase that stacks in potency but not duration. This means you want to collect all 5 orbs quickly right as you are about to reach your damage peak during cooldowns. While this is happening, the boss will make players dance with World In Flames.

Heating Up will cause the boss to ramp in damage, and at 4 stacks the boss will cast Encroaching Destruction, wiping the raid. This encounter is also fully single target with no utility requirement.
Arcane Mage Tips and Tricks for Smolderon

Alter Time is great for Brand of Damnation (for health) and Overheated (for movement after the waves).
This fight ramps in damage. Try to always defensives for the end of the encounter. Prismatic Barrier with Mirror Image, Greater Invisibility, or Ice Cold should be enough to survive later sets of Brand of Damnation.
Try to always line up your Living Flame buffs during the intermission with your Arcane Surge.
Alter Time and Blink can counter the knockback as the boss phases.
If you cannot get your Holy Paladin to cast Blessing of Autumn on you, you should open the fight with a Miniburn, otherwise Arcane Surge won't be back up for the vulnerability. This is because the first empowerment is about a minute into the fight, while each subsequent empowerment is about a minute and a half, making Arcane Surge sync after the first, but not if you open with it (without Autumn).

Mythic

No specific tips for mythic as Arcane, just ensure your cooldowns lay into the boss as much as possible during the intermission buff.

Tindral Sageswift

Tindral Sageswift Build

Tindral Sageswift has three phases and two intermissions that involve Dragonriding. Make sure you have all of your Dragonriding Talents for this encounter before you begin!

As a ranged damage dealer you will need to be very mobile. Dodge Falling Star, deal with Mass Entanglement, and get away from the raid if marked with Fiery Growth. This is a debuff that needs to be dispelled. As the phase goes on, Fire Beams will spawn making it so you have to dodge while dealing with the other mechanics. Eventually, Fallen Feather will fall from the sky. These allow players to use Dragonriding while in the encounter. On Mythic, 4 of these spawn periodically and players need to use them to intercept Flare Bombs, using them as a way to clear roots via Empowering Flame.

Because of the availability and importance of AOE here, I recommend AOE talents, the only specific utility required is that you want to run Ice Floes so you can Blink out of Mass Entanglement.

Arcane Mage Tips and Tricks for Tindral Sageswift

Blink breaks the Mass Entanglement. It is up every set.
Soaking the Seed of Flame can hurt! Mage has many defensives to deal with this so always use one of the following if you feel you are in danger: Mirror Image, Prismatic Barrier, Mass Barrier, Alter Time, Greater Invisibility.
The Supernova absorb shield is important to break quickly, try to have Arcane Surge ready as you land on the platform.

Mythic

Using Blink to break roots will also spawn an add. For this reason, it is recommended for Mythic that you only Blink when your roots are already low, or out of pure necessity, like being rooted in a Fire Beam.

Fyrakk the Blazing

Fyrakk the Blazing Build

Fyrakk the Blazing is the final boss of Amirdrassil, the Dream's Hope. The concept is that you are protecting the Roots of Amirdrassil. If burned, Amirdrassil Burns triggers and it is a wipe.

This encounter has 3 phases with an intermission. Phase 1 and 3 are Single Target, but phase 2 has Burning Colossus and Screaming Soul that spawn with each Shadowflame Devastation. Spirit of the Kaldorei will also spawn, which are friendly adds that healers need to heal.

Phase 1 is straightforward, stand behind the boss during Firestorm to avoid this frontal. If targeted with Firestorm, place the flame as close to the edge (or other flame) as possible. When the boss disappears, run from Dream Rend. Once the intermission begins, the boss will knock players in the air with Incarnate then cast a frontal with Corrupt. Run behind the boss and soak the Shadowflame Orbs that try to make it to the boss. If targeted with Blaze lines, avoid moving last second unless you are running in the same direction as your line.

Phase 2 is similar to phase 1 except that the boss will occasionally spawn Burning Colossus and Screaming Soul. He will also fly away then use Shadowflame Devastation, which spawns a line of Screaming Soul. Spirit of the Kaldorei healing adds also spawn. Be careful not to hit them with ground effects like Blaze!

Phase 3 brings most of the concepts from the previous phases together with a new twist. Multiple Seed of Amirdrassil will spawn which need to be picked up and carried by players. If a seed or a player carrying a seed takes damage from Blaze or Eternal Firestorm then the seed explodes likely leading to a wipe.

This is definitely a fight where your Time Warp timing will determine whether you want to utilize Time Anomaly or not. Blast Wave and Dragon's Breath are useful here for stopping the small adds during P2 from casting their deadly spells. The AOE available is very important which in my opinion justifies Orb Barrage, however if your guild slams adds you should consider Conjure Mana Gem.

Fyrakk the Blazing Build

Use defensives such as Mirror Image, Prismatic Barrier, Mass Barrier, Alter Time, Greater Invisibility for Dream Rend, Corrupt, Incarnate, Flamefall and Apocalypse Roar.
Use Blink/Shimmer to cancel the knock-up from Incarnate.
Counterspell, Dragon's Breath, and Blast Wave can be used on the Screaming Souls that spawn after Shadowflame Devastation to stop their casts.

Mythic

Darkflame Cleave is a group soak, but can be soloed with Ice Block, this does not make it required.
Orbs will have two colors. Make sure you only soak the Flame Orbs / Shadow Orbs that match your shield, this is a great time for Mass Barrier.

Arcane Mage Viability in Amirdrassil

Arcane looks to be like a strong ranged dps for season 3 of Dragonflight. If tuning stays the same, I would expect to see at least one Arcane Mage in nearly every raid kill, potentially even stackable for fights with vulnerabilities and add waves.

Something a lot of new arcane mages will struggle on is getting the rotation right while dealing with the amount of move conditions in this season, my advice is to not worry about small mistakes and really just focus on getting the surge window just right, a significant amount of your damage will come during this time.
