Here's a first look at the reworked Throne of the Tides Mythic+ which includes new abilities on trash and boss encounters!
Intro Voice Lines
The second boss' iconic voice line still remains!
Lightning Gauntlet
After the 2nd Boss, there's a spall Lightning Gauntlet!
Notable Trash
Vicious Snap Dragons
These packs of
Dragon happeur vicieux
look like AoE fodder but they're probably one of the most dangerous trash packs in the dungeon currently.
They cast
Poursuite vorace
which unlike other channels doesn't break on a stun, knock or any form of Crowd Control. In addition, they apply stacks of a bleed
Mâchoires rasoirs
on their melee attacks which does an absurd amount of damage, except it's not categorized as a Bleed, so you can't Evoker dispel or Dwarf it off.
Oracles
Oracle naz'jar
are probably the most annoying the most in this dungeon and require a lot of kicks. They cast
Maléfice
and
Vague de soins
which should ideally not be allowed to go off.
The reason that Oracles are so hard to deal with is that
Vague de soins
cannot be "stopped" -- aka must be interrupted as using a CC on it to stop the cast will result in it being cast again. If that wasn't enough, you need 2 melee kicks to keep it locked down because of how frequent it casts.
And if that wasn't enough, some packs have 2 oracles in them, combined with other mobs that you may wish to interrupt.
6 Caster Pack
For some reason there's a pack of 6 casters right in front of the boss.
Each of these casts
Aquaprojection
which hits for ~380k on a +20 Fortified to random targets. It's a bit brutal.
1st Boss
This first boss honestly doesn't do much. She has two intermission phases that occur at 60% and 30% health. During the regular phase, the only notable mechanic is
Horion explosif
which targets a player after a cast, sending out orbs from their direction. It's pretty straightforward to dodge.
The intermission phase is the only deadly part of the encounter. Periodically
Geyser
will erupt from the floor and each one does 500k on a +20 Tyrannical. Kill all the adds and you end the phase.
2nd Boss
The second boss is pretty straightforward as well. There's constant raid damage from
Onde de choc putrescente
that your healer will need to heal. His main mechanic targets 3 players with
Fissure bouillonnante
which lands on the floor. He'll then cast
Limon éveillé
which animates the puddles into adds which fixate players for 12 seconds, moving the ooze on the ground with the NPCs. However, everyt ime you deal damage to an ooze, it's knocked back. As the fight goes on and on, you start getting more adds!
3rd Boss
The third boss is now required and no longer optional. You will no longer get to beat up your friends and the boss is actually pretty straightforward with minimal mechanics.
Phase one takes place from 100% to 25%. He periodically summons a
Totem de déluge tempétueux
that causes him to destroy your tank while the totem remains active. He'll also cast
Horion de flammes
on random targets that needs to be dispelled. Periodically you'll have to dodge swirlies on the floor but the pace of phase 1 is very slow.
Phase 2 takes place from 25% to 0%.
Torve-esprit Ghur'sha
will cast
Vision terrifiante
which forces you to line-of-sight the boss and then does periodic damage to the raid.
4th Boss
The final boss seems to be the most difficult boss in Throne of the Tides, partially because the graphics are really hard to see.
The main mechanic on this fight is
Ténèbres séchantes
a pool of ink on the ground that slowly expands over time and deals damage to anyone standing in it. The problem is... it's REALLY hard to see where the edges of the pool are, partially because the boss has a goopy whispy black ink animation as part of his model by default which covers up the pools on the ground. In addition, the black edges of the ink puddles are not well defined and since they grow, it's really easy for them to sneak up on you.
In-Game Screenshot
Ink Pool Roughly Outlined
Two players will be randomly chosen by Neptulon to be able to clear pools. If you are chosen (this can include the tank), you need to stand in the Ink pools to
shrink them over time
.
The flow of the fight is cyclical:
Ink Pools drop on 3 players via
Barrage séchant
.
2 players get
Flux de purification
and can cleanse Ink pools.
Adds spawn which don't have a lot of health, but should be interrupted and killed in a controlled spot.
Repeat from #1
The hard part is making sure that the adds die in a controlled manner as when the oozes die they also drop Ink Pools. Then making sure to drop
Barrage séchant
near those Ink pools since you only have a limited amount of time to clear all the Ink Pools.
If you ever miss clearing an Ink Pool, the fight becomes infinitely harder. Any missed pools will continue to grow in between clear phases, and because you need to stand in pools to
shrink them over time
this means you're spending more time in a pool to clear a bigger one. This will permanently set you behind and this fight is super important to make sure that Ink Pools are always completely cleared in each phase. If you don't, you're on the clock and may lead to a wipe.
There's also high AoE damage from
Rugissement putride
that just needs to be healed through, but making sure you don't get ticked on by Ink Pools is important.
Phase 2
Phase 2 doesn't have any bite. The phase lasts no time at all. Players are buffed with
Vague de marée
making them deal 20x damage, 5x health, 5x healing and 50% haste. The boss doesn't have that much health and if that wasn't enough, Neptulon also channels into the boss for 5.76 million damage every second on +20 Tyrannical which accounted for about 45% of the damage on our kill, making the phase only last 17 seconds.
P.S. Seems there's a bug with the way the damage amp is coded as it's making the
Décomposition de l’intérieur
flask DoT also increase it's damage by 20x making it
deal 50% health
on every tick.
