It's a long-standing tradition for players to study every detail in a new game: from any languages you can see, to finding easter eggs, to connecting and creating massive timelines of events spanning decades of franchise entries. With the world of Sanctuary being so beloved, Diablo 4 is no different - and some players have made a massive discovery that allowed them to translate the written language the Cathedral of Light uses!
In a Reddit thread, user

revealed that they, and several other players from the
Not Finding A Cow Level
Discord server, were able to translate the Cathedral of Light script using a key found in the Collector's Art Book. Once the cipher was broken, it was clear: the Cathedral of Light apparently really has a thing for werewolves!

Affectionately calling the script
Lorath Ipsum
, the intrepid translators discovered that nearly every instance of writing related to the Cathedral of Light is simply the word "Werewolf" written over and over again. It seems that Blizzard really liked the way the script looked - so they just kept using it!

While we understand the sheer amount of work it would have taken to have actual coherent and translatable words on the Cathedral assets around Sanctuary, we can't help be a little disappointed - after all, how interesting would it have been for secret lore to be hiding on the walls of Inarius' Sanctum?
What we do know, however, is that the Cathedral just really, really likes dogs -
give them an extra pet
around Sanctuary for them!
