Demolitionist Megacharge patrols around the camp at: 56.92.

Blasting Powder for the follow up quest is located at: 63.94 - You will need to climb the trailer behind the scaffolding to get it.

High Voltage Detonator is located in the ocean at: 50.89.

Final ingredient: any of the demons at Socrethar's Rise will drop the blood. You need 5 of them. Find a group of imps and you should have no trouble getting them.

Location of the cave for the final part in the quest is at: 42.74, it appears as an instance portal. You hand it in to Bodrick Grey outside your town hall.

Info on the full "Breaching the Barrier" quest chain, one of the six quest chain criteria for the Master Relic Hunter (Alliance)/ Master Relic Hunter (Horde) achievement needed to get the Harrison Jones follower with Extreme Scavenger and unique Mentor traits. This chain takes place in Shadowmoon Valley, the southeastern Draenor zone.

Getting Starter Quests: The first quest is given by Harrison Jones, who turns up just inside your garrison's Town Hall on random days. He's in some garrisons every day; use Group Finder's Premade Groups/Custom category to search for "Harrison" to see if anyone is inviting people to their garrison to get the quest.

Bug Notes:

If you collected an item that should complete a quest, but the quest isn't shown as completed, log off and back on (just reloading won't work), click the quest in your quest log, and see if you can click "complete quest".
If clicking a "Click to complete quest" pop-up makes it go away but doesn't actually complete the quest, click the quest in your quest log, and see if you can click "complete quest".
Leave at least one spot free in your quest log (i.e. 24 of 25), or a quest may become uncompletable going from one quest to the next.
You can not do these quests in a raid group; doing some steps in a raid group can make a quest uncompletable.
If a quest becomes uncompletable, you can return to your garrison, delete the quest, and re-accept the quest on that step of the quest chain from the book of Relic Hunting Notes on the ground next to Harrison Jones. All but the initial quest are also shareable from party members, if you are on the same step of the quest chain.

1. Treasure Contract: Explosive Discoveries: on the large southern island in Shadowmoon Valley, kill and loot Demolitionist Megacharge, and click the "Click to complete quest" pop-up. Aviana's Feather is handy getting to the exact spots for several of these quests, if you have one, but has a ten minute cooldown. Four ways to get to the island, in order of preference, depending on which flightpoints you are able to use:

Fly to the Darktide Roost flightpoint on the southern island, and ride west along its coast to Demolitionist Megacharge.
Fly to Socrethar's Rise flightpoint on Shadowmoon Valley's southern coast () jump down the cliffs to the west into the water, and ride or swim east/southeast to the island.
Fly to Pinchwhistle Gearworks flightpoint on Spires of Arak's eastern coast (), and ride or swim east to the island in Shadowmoon Valley. If you have a Elixir of Water Walking or Reins of the Azure Water Strider to move more quickly you can ride due east, but if you're swimming, you might want to hug the coast more closely so you don't succumb to fatigue.
If you don't have any of those flight points, get to Spires of Arak's east coast, and ride/swim east to the Shadowmoon Valley island, as rocks along Shadowmoon Valley's southern coast prevent getting into the water except at Socrethar's Rise.

Bag Space Tip: After you get credit for completing this quest, you can safely delete Megacharge's Cookbook from your bags. It's just for interesting reading. Each Harrison Jones quest chain leaves a similar soulbound book in your inventory (click for list).

2. Dark Grimoire: The First Ingredient: , jump on cart, jump on its edge, and stand on its wheel to reach the hanging bag. If you have Falling Flame from Timeless Isle, using it afterwards will launch you to the location of the detonator needed for the next quest.

3. Dark Grimoire: The Second Ingredient: , crate is floating underwater.

4. Dark Grimoire: The Final Ingredient: kill and loot 5 Demon's Bloods from demons around Socrathar's Rise (southern region of Shadowmoon Valley's mainland). The shore is mostly blocked by cliffs, except for a ramp at northwest of the previous quest's crate; you can ride up the ramp, or use Aviana's Feather or a similar flying ability.

Fel Imps (10k) health are the easiest source of bloods, but there are not that many of them. They spawn in packs of five imps, and typically drop around two bloods per pack. Two packs spawn around , two packs spawn around , two packs spawn around , a pack patrols back and forth up the hill around , and a nearby pack patrols around the Demon Gate circle at .

Other demons there include Nightshade Consorts (420k health) and Sargerei Demonlords (860k health) which usually drop one blood each, and spawn around , , and . Succubuses (48k health) spawn in a number of locations, often with another mob.

5. Dark Grimoire: Breaching the Barrier click on swirling portal at (on the ground, not above on the hill), then jump over purple runes/beams in the cave to get the Grimoire of the Nameless Void. Abilities like blink, displacer beast, and disengage (tricky) can help, speed boosts can help with longer jumps, a glider can help, but Aviana's feather is reported to not work. Even without special abilities, you can make it over hugging the right side of the cave with three jumps: two over the horizontal beams, and one kind of up the rocks a bit as you pass the round rune to the left.

Once you click the grimoire, double-check that the quest is ready for turn-in, then hearth back to your garrison to turn the quest in to Bodrick Grey (Alliance) or Rokhan (Horde).

If you have the red flying cloud mount, hop on it and go along the right side of the cave at the last quest and it will take right over the obstacles. I thought it couldn't be that easy but it was. LOL

I tackled this quest for the second day in a row today, but no matter how many times I killed Demolitionist Megacharge, I just could not get the Megacharge's Cookbook to drop!

Then I remembered that his book had stuck around in my inventory the day before, and that I'd stuck it in my bank. Once I retrieved it, the quest completed and I could progress.

tl;dr If the cookbook isn't dropping, make sure you don't already have it, somewhere. :-)

If you're planning on buying a Missive to get some bonus Apexis Crystals while doing this mission, get the one for Socrethar's Rise, not the one for Darktide Roost—almost all of the killing takes place there.

LadyVictoria, I thought they changed it so that quest drop items do not go into your bag they are automatically applied. As of pre-patch was it? I can't seem to reply to posts here, when i click the button to post the reply a little box appears below the left side of text saying "undefined" and it doesn't show as posted.

A few ways to get this done quicker, if you haven't got the FPs for Darktide Roost and/or Socrethar's Rise:

0. (If you don't have FP for Socrethar's Rise): Get there and grab the FP.

1. Fly to The Draakorium, go southwest and grab one of the Shadow Lillies by the river to get a 10 minute waterwalking buff that will persist through damage (some classes might want to skip this step).

2. Go back to the Drakoorium, fly to Socrethar's Rise, and ride southeast to (48.3, 83.3). There go past the tree and carefully jump down onto a ramp that will lead you right to the water.

3. Ride to the first quest objective, kill the guy, go to second quest objective, grab it and if you were quick you will still have time on your Glowstep buff to ride across the water to the detonator. Riding across the water will also allow you to skip non-quest related mobs easily.

4. From there, ride towards the ramp that led you down to the water in step 2 and go back to Socrethar's Rise.

5. Conveniently, you'll end up were you were in step 2 and find some roaming Fel Imps that you can kill quickly for the Demon's Blood.

6. Finish final part of the quest.

Also, you can grab missives for Socrethar's Rise and Darktide Roost before you start this quest chain if you're in need for some Apexis Crystals.

If you don't have the Reins of the Azure Water Strider, make sure to have a few Elixir of Water Walking/Draenic Water Walking Elixir

Fly to Socrethar's Rise or Darktide Roost fly point.

If you don't have either of these, you can fly to Twilight Glade, in Shadowmoon Valley.
Then travel south to Darktide Roost.

1.
• The coordinates for are located in the vicinity of 56.3,91.9
• Kill him and loot the Megacharge's Cookbook.

2.
• Travel up the hill to the coordinates 63.7,93.9 for the Precision Blasting Powder.

3.
• Travel to the waters between Darktide Roost and Socrethar's Rise at coordinates 50.5,89.6.
• Go underwater to click the High Voltage Detonator.

4.
• Travel to Socrethar's Rise roughly to coordinates 49,82.
• Any demons here will drop the Demon's Blood, but I've found the best targets are the Fel Imp due to the low health of less than 10k and their numbers.

5.
• After you have collected all 5 Demon's Blood, travel to coordinates 43.9,77.5, grab the flight point if you don't already have it.
• Travel to coordinates, 42.6,74.1, by going up the hill next to the flight point and jumping down one ledge at a time.
• Click the cave's "instanced entrance" and enter (avoid touching the light beams and circles on the ground).
• The best course I've found it on jumping over the beams and hugging the right side of the wall.
• Loot the Grimoire of the Nameless Void, and turn in the quest at your garrison.

I know it's random but this quest ~~has not shown itself for almost 3~~ 4 weeks. Could it be bugged?

EDIT: Well after nearly 6 weeks this daily has finally appeared. I will be doing it on all 5 of my toons today. Good luck to you all:))

When I saw Harrison Jones in my priest's garrison, he offered this quest, but my druid (who is working on getting HJ as a follower) didn't have him as the daily visitor, so I used the custom group finder and visited another player's garrison. For some reason, the quest was offered by Surveyor Daltry instead of HJ.

The Harrison quests take place in a location where the Apexis dailies can also take place. If you want to maximize your time in a location, be sure to pick up the associated Missive from your Garrison Quartermaster ( Sergeant Crowler or Sergeant Grimjaw ).

You can have both the missive and the daily from the war planning table.

as of June 10, 2015, if you try backing into the pink laser rays expecting to get knocked back INSIDE the cave, you will be sadly disappointed. You get dropped from the sky ouside of the cave.

HOWEVER, from INSIDE the cave, you will be dropped back OUTSIDE the cave whether you walk directly into the beams or back into them.

Hunters if you are at the final stage and you are trying to get past the Barriers to get the book just back up as close as you can and let your DISENGAGE propel you backwards over the explosives and you are golden> you may have to have the right glyff to make this work

As a hunter I found the easiest way was to get on the big rock on the left as you walk in, turn around and face the entrance then jump up & press Disengage & it takes you past all the beams, just watch the last circle at the end as it will TP you back out the cave if you land on it.

If you're like me and having a hard time laser-jumping on the last leg of the quest chain to retrieve Grimoire of the Nameless Void, I hopped onto a rock just on the outer edges of the right-hand side wall, jumped and popped a Goblin Glider Kit to angle in right over the lasers and runes. Worked like a charm, first time. No muss, no fuss.

Note: If you've already done the questline and have Breaching the Barrier listed as completed in your achievement pane, you can still pick up this quest from another person's garrison.

I haven't been pushing to do Harrison Jones, and a friend started working on him, so I was going to join along. I thought this sounded familiar, so I double checked. It's marked as done in the achievement for Harrison Jones. I don't know why the system is letting me take it again...

ETA: So on the off chance of getting the 150g reward, I ran through the questline again. I'm submitting a screenshot (that I actually don't think will get approved, but one never knows (actually, I'm submitting it on the page of *that* quest)) of me standing on top of the book that I cannot pick up. Yes, I did the quest already, I'm putting in a ticket to blizz. I doubt I'll get anything, but if I can't loot the book and get the reward for the final quest, i.e. the item in the achievement has already been done, I should not be able to take the initial quest in the first place.

... And now the Ancient Barrier is back in place. Good thing I have a hearthstone...

Was trying to do this and couldn't quite get past the tripwires.

A guildmate told me use the tripwires to punt myself into the cave.

Asked for clarification and he pointed out that when you bump into a tripwire it punts you back in the direction you came from.

Jumped over the first tripwire.

Turned around, walked into it.

Got punted into the cave proper.

I found the best location to do this, when facing into the cave to try to do it on the rightmost side.

This is listed in the comments under the achivement "Master Relic Hunter" but hopefully this will help someone checking in here. I havent seen any post about it, if i missed it and i am double posting i apologise. The quests and the stages in this achivement do not have the same name!

Dunno if this is a bug or not, but I had this quest Ready For Turn In, so I hearthed back to the garrison. Once there I found not a ? but a ! over a book on the floor next to Harrison. Clicking it made me re-accept the final step of the quest. So I flew back to the barrier and repeated acquiring the grimoire. Again, it's ready for turn in. I hearthed back and same thing happens. I fly back and get the grimoire a third time, but this time I fly back instead of hearthing. Now I get a ? from the NPC outside. Turn in and done.

Does hearthing back reset this quest for you? Jeez.

Description

In Shadowmoon Valley there is a cave said to possess an ancient tome that may contain secrets that can help our cause against the Iron Horde. The cave, however, is protected by an ancient barrier composed of arcane energy. There is a goblin in Darktide Roost, said to know how to take down any barrier. Persuade him to give up his secrets and bring back the book.
