I would suggest farming easy heroics at first, then moving onto karazhan. That way you can collect badges for the gear which is t5+ equivalent. Whatever you can't purchase with badges, get it crafted.
PvP is for scrubs!
Easy heroics include:
Ramps
SP
BM
Maybe Mechanar too

while leveling through the 60-70 lvls it might also be handy to pick up some normal dungeon loots on the way
the loots that are needed for heroic settings or kara (there are a few, but helps bcs you'll be somewhat more prepared)
(or you come acros a nice guild that has kara on farm and you tag allong on their rides... :-P)

Find out anything you can about the larger guilds on your server that raid. Go to their websites, talk to some of their officers in game. You have to find guild that works for you -guild chat, reputation on server, what classes they really need, when they raid and how often. If you cannot play at the correct times, stay thru long sessions, it is not gonna work.
The gearing up is secondary to the people aspect imho.
And don't blow off PvP so quickly. If you are waiting for groups for 5mans, done with dailies, queuing up AV and getting some honor until something else pops can get you a piece or two of nice gear with tons of stamina to fill in your crappiest slots. Do not think that stamina is not important for all classes in many raid sitiuations, because it is. You can always afk out of a BG at any time when your group finally fills, your pal(s) come on line, etc.

First of all, as soon as you hit 70, gain rep with every faction that gives Heroic Keys. With those keys you can access Heroic dungeons that give gear which will prepare you for raiding. Once you hit DPS requirements for Karazhan, move into that with a progressing guild. From there, just follow your guild progression and raid accordingly, and you'll do fine.
Alternatively, PvP gear is also good. Since Heroics take time (a luxury many people don't have too much of, like me) PvP might just be the key. The gear is pretty good, but don't go too heavily into PvP gear. It obviously isn't built for PvE.
Of course, be sure to do Heroics whenever you can, since the bosses do drop Badges of Justice, which you can trade in for good PvE epics.

The raiding one is from Gruul's and pvp from AB....look carefully
You are mistaken.
Gladiator's Felweave Amice
is a season 1 pvp reward which can now be purchased with a tier 4 token however that same token could be turned in for the comparable pve reward:
Voidheart Mantle
.
Merciless Gladiator's Felweave Amice
is part of the arena season 2 set.
You just compared a season 1 reward to a season 2 reward and concluded that the season 2 reward is superior, good job!
what about cat dps stuff.. wouldnt it be better to get raid gear for raids and pvp gear for pvp..
doesnt the pve gear have more hit rating and crit rating.. stuff like that
In general this is correct; pvp gear is better for pvp and pve gear is better for pve. The reason you see people advocating getting pvp gear to start raiding is because they are able to get much higher level pvp gear than they can get pve gear.
Let's consider some druid gear for an accurate version of Warzok's example:
Mantle of Malorne
is a feral druid tier 4 set item which comes from one of the earliest 25 player raids and is item level 120.
Gladiator's Dragonhide Spaulders
is from the feral season 1 pvp set and is level 123.
Merciless Gladiator's Dragonhide Spaulders
is from the season 2 pvp set and is level 136.
Comparing tier 4 and season 1 gear which are of a comparable gear level the pve gear is a vastly better choice for pve. However if your choice is between some blue level 70 item and a season 2 reward then you're probably better off with the season 2 reward because it is at least 16 levels higher and have many more total stats as a result.
