Primordial Stone Gems are now available for testing on the Dragonflight Patch 10.0.7 PTR. Discovered in
last week's build
, Primordial Stones are a new customizable set of gems obtainable in the upcoming patch, which add a new layer of customization and player power. As of right now, there does not appear to be a vendor selling these stones, but they can be slotted and used on the test realm.
The One Ring
Primordial Stones come in several variations, with 25 found so far, though they only slot into the three unique primordial sockets found on the
Amuleto de ónice
, which is in turn found on the very first floor of the Zskera Vaults, an
explorable mini-dungeon activity within the Forbbiden Reach
. Players will use Zskera Vault Keys obtained from various activities throughout the Reach to open doors within the vaults, revealing the chests, monsters, and puzzles hidden within.
As of right now, the vaults are the only source of both the Primordial Stones and the singular ring in which they can be used in, alongside other rewards such as pets, achievements, and toys. The ring also doesn't have any primary or secondary stats aside from stamina and the three primordial sockets.
The ring is incredibly hard to miss, glittering on the floor at the entrance of the Vaults.
Borrowed Power?
While many players have compared these new gems to the controversial
Shard of Domination
system in Shadowlands Patch 9.1, Primordial Stones appear to be much more straight forward - more akin to the
Mechagon Punch Card trinket
than the Sanctum of Domination shards.
Primordial Stones only slot into one specific ring, found at a predetermined location and item level.
Primordial Stones cannot be upgraded.
Some Primordial Stones interact with others, but they do not have specific set bonuses.
Primordial Stone drops are RNG, but appear to be
very
quick to acquire, with only a few runs through the vault awarding several.
Primordial Stones cannot be removed once socketed, but can be replaced with new ones. This also means players can obtain duplicates, though you cannot socket multiple copies of the same stone at the same time.
It's also important to note that this is not a major feature of a new tier - given that the stones are being added towards the back end of Vault of the Incarnates and drop from a world activity, it seems unlikely that we'll be intended to carry them forward into high-end Patch 10.1 content.
