It's a time-honored tradition in Blizzard games to hang out in the main city and run laps (you've got to get your steps in!). In Diablo 4, however, you've got so many cities to choose from - which do you pick?
We've ranked the main cities of Diablo 4 from best to worst, so you can reference our handy tier list to know where all the cool players are hanging out!
1. The Tree of Whispers, Hawezar
Ranking: 9/10
The only thing keeping The Tree of Whispers from a perfect score is the lack of a Jeweler or an Occultist. Other than that, there's no pesky furniture to trip you up, no back alleys to search through to find a vendor, no doorways to get stuck in - just you, your stash, and your salvage in one convenient spot! The music is incredible, too - 10/10 for ambiance!
2. Ked Bardu, Dry Steppes
Ranking: 8/10
The absolute
worst
part about this city is the chair in front of the Stash. We're not kidding. We've broken toes, bruised shins, and come to an abrupt stop so many times because of this one chair that it cost Ked Bardu an entire point on the ranking list.
This stool right here cost Ked Bardu the #1 spot. #TurnItToKindling
If we remove their questionable taste in furniture from the equation, thought, Ked Bardu is actually a really great hub city - almost all vendors extremely close to the waypoint, the Stash nearby, and the best city music in our opinion on the list - the only thing we could ask for is for the Purveyor of Curiosities to be moved closer!
Well, that and for the chair to be burned.
3. Kyovashad, Fractured Peaks
Ranking: 8/10
Baby's first hub city, Kyovashad is actually a very solid contender on this list. While most of the layout is fairly intuitive, we could do with things being a bit less spread out. Along with that, the Blacksmith is in an excellent location, letting you pop in, salvage, and get out with ease. There's even a dog to pet on the way!
That being said though, the structures in this city leave a bit to be desired. The inn in particular, with its second-floor Stash through many doorways, makes things difficult. No one wants to hip check a door frame while trying to put away their loot.
4. Cerrigar, Scosglen
Ranking: 6/10
The most open-concept city on our list, we wish Cerrigar had just a bit more going for it. Next to the Waypoint is a market area that would have been prime real estate for every vendor we needed, right there in the fresh air. Instead, we got a very linear spread of vendors, and who thought that putting the Stash basically outside the city was a good idea? Great concept, less than optimal execution, landing this city a solid middle-of-the-pack ranking.
5. Gea Kul, Khejistan
Ranking: 4/10
This city is absolutely gorgeous - if we were ranking by looks alone, Gea Kul would easily be a 10/10. Unfortunately, that's where our praise ends for this bustling port city. The giant Waypoint pedestal is a nightmare for mounts to navigate, and the large, spacious houses mean meandering paths to find the vendors you want. We'd definitely buy a summer home here though, once the demons are taken care of.
6. Zarbinzet, Hawezar
Ranking: 3/10
We knew the swamps of Hawezar were a mess, but man, did it really have to extend to the main city as well? If you love stairs, this is your spot - but for everyone else, don't bother coming here. You'll get stuck on every corner around, and if you don't, your mount will - plus the NPCs are playing hide and seek with you when you need them. Get in for your quests and then get the heck out.
Honorable Mention: Denshar, Kehjistan
While not a major city, we wanted to mention Denshar, which happens to be in a PVP zone. It's phenomenal to port to when looking to refill potions for dungeons, but otherwise, it's also got a nice, flat, easy layout - sadly, it's missing an Occultist or Jeweler, however.
Honorable Mention: Alzuuda, Dry Steppes
We wish we could have given this town a true place on the ranking list. Another PVP zone town, it has immaculate NPC layouts, if you don't mind the ever present risk of death in the zone around it. If it had an Occultist and Jeweler, we could've been persuaded to add it to the official rankings, but for now, it gets an honorable mention.
