Diablo 4 Campfire Chat
, Blizzard showed off an exciting new piece of endgame content coming to Diablo 4 in Season 5 - players will finally be returning to Hell in the new endgame content, Infernal Hordes! Infernal Hordes are similar to Nightmare Dungeons, but instead of delving dungeons, players are entering Hell itself to fend off wave after wave of increasingly difficult Hellspawn.
Campfire Chat Summary Diablo 4 Season 5
Players will become eligible to enter Infernal Hordes by completing a quest chain in Zarbinzet upon reaching World Tier 3, unlocking access to The Infernal Horde Compass and the Abyssal Scrolls required to upgrade them - the Compass behaves much like a Nightmare Dungeon key, opening a portal to Hell upon use.
Each Infernal Horde has a set number of high monster density waves lasting 90 seconds each, and after each one players will be given the opportunity to choose from one of three Infernal Offers. The Infernal Offer will grant players a boon, bane, or both that will impact the rest of the run. This mechanic should help keep every run unique, while ensuring that the player has a large part to play in whether or not their run is successful.
Players who make it through every wave will then be able to face the boss - one of the resurrected Council Members, fallen Priests of Zakarum. Veterans of the franchise will recognize the Council Members from Diablo II, though they'll have new titles, spells, and abilities for their Diablo 4 debut in Season 5!
There are five possible Council Member bosses in total with three spawning randomly at the end of each run, and after defeating one, the remaining Council Members become more powerful.
So what's the point? Rewards, of course! After defeating the Infernal Horde boss, players will be able to spend a new content-specific currency, Burning Aether to unlock their preferred reward by opening one of four chests:
Spoils of Equipment - All new Legendaries and Uniques.
Spoils of Materials - All sorts of crafting materials,
including
Masterworking materials!
Spoils of Gold - A large lump sum of Gold.
A 4th chest will also be available containing a random item with at least one guaranteed Greater Affix.
Additionally, the brand new items
coming to the game in Season 5
can
all
be target farmed in Infernal Hordes! Though these items can drop elsewhere, they'll have a much higher chance of dropping here. Perhaps the most interesting takeaway is that for the first time, Legendaries will be target farmable in this new content.
New Uniques in Diablo 4 Season 5
