Disconnect Improvements Planned for Diablo 4

The Hardcore community has learned some painful lessons that disconnecting won't save your character in Diablo 4 - but that is planned to change during Season 2.
Currently, disconnecting is a death sentence for nearly every character, Hardcore or not. Blizzard has acknowledged during their
Diablo 4 Campfire Chat
that loading screens and other sources of invulnerability have not been working properly to keep players safe, and will be addressing these issues shortly - however, they're going above and beyond this statement with changes to the

In Season 2, these Hardcore-only items will be automatically used on disconnect to move the player to a safe location. While this is a much-requested change by players, it's likely to prompt discussion amongst the Hardcore playerbase. While other ARPGs have methods of "cheesing" certain death, such as disconnect macros, many found Diablo 4's lack of such features a welcome challenge.
