Lightning Shred Druid Best in Slot Gearing for Diablo 4
This setup represents the ideal gear combination you can get for the Lightning Shred Druid. Since many of these items and aspects are based on drops, this may not be possible to achieve. Alternatives are presented in the sections below.
For Legendary Aspects, you'll ideally want to Imprint these on top of other Legendaries with undesirable Aspects, since Legendaries will have 3 Affixes instead of 2. Rare items are rarely worth Imprinting with Legendary Aspects due to the fact that they only have 2 Affixes.

This Unique should thrill you - it has “Werewolf” written all over it. This is the best option when speed is your focus, so this will be your go-to in most content thanks to a nice Movement Speed bonus and a ton of extra damage. You’ll probably want to replace this with a strong Defensive Aspect when you’re running very difficult content though.

You can’t call yourself a “Lightning Shred Druid” without this one, so thankfully, it’s easily acquired as an unlockable Aspect for your Codex of Power. This Aspect completely enables the Lightning Shred style of play, and the Lightning damage you’ll deal when Critically Striking with
Shred
is significant. This Aspect pairs well with the Overload Spirit Boon, but it won’t trigger things like , so keep that in mind. We prefer this in the Hand Slot. The damage of our
Stormclaw's Aspect
will scale with the damage of our
Shred
, so it will deal more damage thanks to our and .

We know you’ve heard about these pants as they’ve completely dominated the Legs Slot for a ton of builds since their implementation. The Resource Generation and the massive multiplicative damage increase is hard to ignore, and good planning empowers builds to ditch a Basic Skill in most cases. There’s no equivalent - put on a pair of these, check out your butt in the mirror, and join the Druidhood of the
Trampling
Pants.

These are an automatic inclusion for any build relying heavily on an Ultimate Skill, because they help to mitigate their long cooldowns. Paired with , these boots aren’t made for walkin’ - your Ultimate will be available so often that you'll constantly be bringing your enemies to you. Training yourself to Evade through enemies to lower the cooldown on your Ultimate takes some practice, but before long it’ll become second nature.

Recent changes to this one have caused us to take a second look at this long forgotten aspect; what was once a niche leveling option is now an endgame Best in Slot for the Lightning Shred Druid! With this aspect’s help, our primary damaging skill is largely self-sufficient, because you’ll generate chunks of Spirit for every enemy you slay with . Don’t sleep on this aspect - it’s new effect is incredibly strong.

This Unique Druid Ring is inspired by the powerful Malignant Gem of the same name from Season 1, and it’s absolutely phenomenal. You’ll pull all enemies onscreen and off right to you when you cast your Ultimate Skill, grouping them up for an easy wombo-combo. Paired with , you’ll have unmatched control over the battlefield. If you haven’t tried this one yet, now’s the time - grouping enemies up to knock them right back down is incredibly powerful and feels very satisfying. You can get away without using this one, but your clear speed will take a hit. If you don’t want to use this ring, you can use in your Head Slot as an alternative means of pulling in enemies.

This Unique shoots into popularity anytime survival is a concern. Its innate Affixes are decent, but the effect is incredibly powerful. When killing an enemy with a Werebear Skill, the next Werewolf Skill heals the wearer; finishing off a foe with a Werewolf Skill causes the next cast of a Werebear Skill to be free of cost and cooldown. This enables a Lightning Shred Druid to cast after every single kill, if so inclined. A Werewolf wearing this ring is going to survive, it’s that simple. Don’t underestimate this powerful Druid Ring - it’s the one to rule them all.

You’re probably tired of hearing this, but this is your Best in Slot Weapon for any build relying heavily on dealing damage with a Core Skill. This Aspect is absolutely overtuned in its current iteration, and is currently far superior to any other Offensive Aspect available to Druids. We expect that this will get adjusted at some point in the future, but until then, you want to use this one. We recommend imprinting this onto a Two-Handed Weapon to double its already powerful effect, preferably an Axe or Staff is for their strong innate Item Affixes.
Best Item Affixes, Tempering, and Mastercrafting
In many cases, you will want to re-roll at least one undesirable Item Affix from a piece of gear. Unfortunately, this is not possible with Unique items; all Affixes are pre-set, and you aren't even allowed to drag it into the Occultist's Enchant window.
You can only get a Greater Affix as a drop; replacing it at the Occultist will replace it only with a normal Affix, not a Greater Affix.
These are among the most desirable Item Affixes, Tempers, and Masterworking for Lightning Shred Druid in endgame, organized by type (not all Affixes can appear on every type of gear). Remember that you can only reroll one normal Affix per item, so if you get an item with more than one undesirable or unusable Affix, you may want to reconsider using it.

Alternate Gearing for Lightning Shred Druid in Diablo 4
Since you are not always going to be able to get the exact pieces you need, or you get a lucky drop of something else that looks interesting, we present some alternative Unique, Farmed Legendary, and Dropped Legendary choices. These are especially important when considering any Unique or Dropped Legendary BiS gear items you may not have been able to acquire.
Alternate Unique Items for Lightning Shred Druid
Since Unique items are all drops, you can't guarantee getting that one item that you're looking for. Here are some possible alternatives you can use.
Keep in mind, this list does not include Uber Uniques because you’re bound to have an overabundance of everything else by the time you've found an Uber Unique. Suffice to say, Uber Uniques are incredibly powerful, and your Lightning Shred Druid can make use of whatever you happen to find.
- If you haven’t yet managed to find a strong Two-Handed Weapon, but find yourself toting around a high Item Level
Crone Staff
, you may just want to wield it. If you find yourself in this situation, drop
Airidah's
for now, move
Shepherd’s Aspect
to your Amulet, and to a Ring. Additionally, drop
Petrify
to pick up .
- This Unique is actually awesome for speed farming, and would be a solid swap anytime you’re running through trivial content. This isn’t typically optimal in very difficult content though when enemies start to be harder to kill. If you find this, move
Shepherd’s
to your Off-Hand.
- These pants are often overlooked, but they’re incredibly helpful in patching up your Elemental Resistances as you transition between World Tiers. They don’t provide much in the way of physical defense, but they’ve got everything you’ll need to battle the elements.
- Will keep your paws dirt-free as you traverse Sanctuary, but more importantly, they’re a solid alternate option while you’re hunting your Best in Slot. They may not have any skill ranks, but the chance to Freeze enemies on hit will solidify your spot as a champion of Crowd Control. Great innate Item Affixes and additional survivability by way of Crowd Control make these gloves very enticing - give ‘em a whirl.
- So, this item isn't great, but it
does
have an effect that can help with Spirit management. This ring won’t win Best in Show, but it’s a contender for Most Spirit… ed - use it until you find an upgrade.
- This is an overpowered build - not an Overpower build. That said, if you don’t have a good Amulet, you can put the
Banished Lord’s Talisman
to work if you find it. We have no idea why this one was banished - it’s got great innate Item Affixes, and with a high Attack Speed,
Shred
will Overpower often. This is a fun alternative option while collecting your BiS.

Alternate Farmed Legendary Aspects for Lightning Shred Druid
Particularly early in your character's endgame career, the "best" may be elusive and some slots will need to be filled with items created by farming Legendary Aspects. Here are some of the best Legendary Aspects for Lightning Shred Druid and where to farm them.
Unlocked by completing Collapsed Vault in Kehjistan
Unlocked by completing Forbidden City in Fractured Peaks
Unlocked by completing Mariner's Refuge in Scosglen
Unlocked by completing Fading Echo in Kehjistan
Unlocked by completing Steadfast Barracks in Hawezar
- This one is awesome for improving the effectiveness of a Druid’s . You can use this Defensive Aspect to bolster your survivability if you feel like you need it - drop
Debilitating Roar
for now to grab
Cyclone Armor
. This is also a great option when you’re interested in supporting Allies, as the Aspect will apply a Druid’s
Cyclone Armor
to all nearby Allies.
- Amazing when your Critical Strike Chance is low, and valuable even when it’s not. This is an excellent alternative Aspect, and it’s great group support as it causes your
Blood Howl
to affect all nearby Allies - naturally, you’ll need to swap out to pick up instead, and adjust your Tempered Affixes accordingly.
- This Aspect is actually pretty darn good for increasing our damage, but we have a limited few Offensive Aspect slots and this one didn’t make the cut. It’s an awesome alternative option though, and a Lightning Shred Druid will trigger its effect often.
- If you’re struggling to keep yourself healed, this Aspect just might solve that problem for you. It’s amazing early in your career, but its effectiveness tapers off as your Maximum Life total increases since the healing effect is a flat amount. The Aspect will grant Fortify instead of healing if you’re already at full Life, but this is not something that we’ll be able to count on without adding a Barrier to the build.
- This is one of the strongest Defensive Aspects available to Werewolfs, and is a strong alternative option for increasing survivability. Depending on the difficulty of content that you’re running, this Aspect might be overkill, but it’s top tier in terms of survival. Here’s a fun trick to keep in mind: if you imprint
Vigorous Aspect
onto an Amulet, you can increase the Damage Reduction that it provides.
Alternate Dropped Legendary Aspects for Lightning Shred Druid
Dropped legendaries are a little trickier, since ideally, you'd find one that's already high quality and on the slot you needed so you don't need to Salvage it to your Codex right away.
- This pairs incredibly well with
Shepherd's Aspect
, so feel free to use this one for more damage. Consider bringing all three Companion Skills along for the ride while using this Aspect for the biggest damage increase.
- More Attack Speed is excellent for the Lightning Shred Druid. The faster our furious swipes, the more chances we have to trigger effects in a shorter amount of time. We have decent Attack Speed without this Aspect, but with it - oh my glob. You can’t go wrong with this one, so if you find it, use it with confidence.
- This awesome Aspect can significantly boost the damage of your
Shred
, but it’s requirements are a little hard to get used to. To benefit from the damage of this Aspect, you
must
dash to a Poisoned target with
Shred
. Dealing damage becomes a fun minigame - running out of combat and dashing back in for big damage. The Aspect requires some thought and often feels “janky,” so this one won’t be for everyone. Your mileage may vary, but
Aspect of the Blurred Beast
is a strong alternative.
- This Aspect is fun to use because we’re already going to be spamming
Trample
, and
Shepherd's Aspect
will scale the damage of . Don’t put too many eggs into this basket though, as this Aspect won’t be viable long term without significant adjustments to the build.
- This is not an Aspect you’ll want to use all the time due to the long cooldown, but it’s awesome in certain circumstances. It’s very strong as a temporary fix when you’re tackling content that your character may not be prepared for as you’ll extend the length of time that you’re able to fight oppressive enemies.

Best Gems for Lightning Shred Druid in Diablo 4 Season 6
Gems come in various qualities from Chipped to Royal. While the gem properties do not change, the traits improve with higher quality. Therefore, while we list only the highest quality gem here for listing purposes, you should always socket the highest level gem you can get and equip at your level.
Best Armor Gems for Lightning Shred Druid
Sapphires
are going to be your best bet here now that they grant Willpower - these are a straight boost to all damage, and will be your go-to for most content. If you’re struggling to survive due to your Life reaching zero, try swapping these out instead for
Rubies
to increase your Maximum Life - see if it reaches zero less often.
Best Weapon Gems for Lightning Shred Druid
Emeralds
win Best in Slot here as well, and they'll be our Weapon Gem of choice anytime more damage is the focus. A great alternative option is actually
Skulls
- since their update, they are now a great source of self-healing, as long as you have a decent kill speed.
Best Jewelry Gems for Lightning Shred Druid
Resistance to All Elements is solid, so
Diamonds
are a great choice here - we’ve included them here as more of a placeholder, however. Best Gems for your Jewelry Sockets are fairly dynamic, and will change, as needed, to round out your Elemental Resistances. You’ll want to use whatever Gems you need to cap your Resistances at 70%, so study your character sheet and then use the Gems that will get you there. If you find yourself Resistance capped with empty Jewelry Sockets, pop
Skulls
into the remaining sockets to boost Armor instead. If you’re both Resistance
and
Armor capped, look for areas where you can lower these stats elsewhere to ensure that you’re getting the full value of your Jewelry Sockets.

Best Elixirs for the Lightning Shred Druid in Diablo 4 Season 6
Elixirs offer a wide variety of effects, along with a 5% boost to Experience. These can be either offensive or defensive, and a few of them are so powerful that you must find the recipes out in the world to learn them.
Many Elixirs are situational. If you're fighting the world boss Ashava, a can be your best friend, or an can be just the thing for a dungeon you're looking to speedrun.
However, there are also good "running around" Elixirs you'll want to keep on hand for general activities. For the Poison Shred Druid, we recommend the following Elixirs for everyday use:
- The Attack Speed and Lucky Hit Chance granted by this potion is our top recommendation as they are both top stat priorities for the Lightning Shred Druid. Attacking faster and scoring Lucky Hits more often will increase your chances of triggering effects, which is definitely something you’ll appreciate.
- This Elixir takes the cake when pure damage potential is taken into consideration - this will be your preferred choice if you’re already Attack Speed capped, as Critical Strike Damage is a huge focus for this build.
- This is a great Elixir when you’re just looking for a straight up boost to your survivability. It doesn’t get much better than a massive percentage-based boost to Maximum Life. This is an excellent Elixir to bolster your defenses in difficult content, and it’s equally as valuable in the Fields of Hatred - use this Elixir when you need it!
- If you find that you’re struggling to keep your Spirit up, for whatever reason, this Elixir can immediately solve the problem for you. Long term, you’ll want a more permanent solution, but this is a great temporary stopgap.
- If your Movement Speed from gear is low, this will be a strong consideration for you anytime you’re running through less difficult content - the higher your Movement Speed, the more quickly you’ll get from point A to point B.
Consumables Guide for Diablo 4
Best Incense for Lightning Shred Druid in Diablo 4 Season 6
Incense works both grouped and ungrouped, and increases stats, resistances, or defenses for 20 minutes for all nearby players.
- This is a great everyday Incense to burn when you're mostly interested in giving yourself an additional boost, and it’s relatively inexpensive to craft. The boost to Willpower makes this one perfect for individual use, but the buff won’t do much for anyone not of Druidic descent.
- This is the top choice for difficult content and group support, and it’s universally powerful for all players. Burning this Incense grants you and nearby allies a boost to All Stats and Critical Strike Damage, so it’s perfect for supporting several different classes. This’ll cost you a chunk of resources though, so plan accordingly!
- Situationally great for boosting Fire, Cold, and Shadow Resistances while raising Maximum Resistances to these Elements slightly.
- On the flip side, burn this to boost Lightning, Cold, and Poison Resistances while raising Maximum Resistances to these Elements slightly.
- It’s hard to argue with a straight boost to Maximum Life when you’re looking to increase your survivability, but note that this one grants a flat amount - it won’t feel as initially powerful as its Elixir counterpart, but it’s a solid option for group support. Additionally, keep this in mind when you’re supporting low level allies, because a flat boost to Maximum Life feels much more impactful to characters who don’t have as much of it.
