Guild Transfer Option Coming Soon
Transferring servers as a guild has always been needlessly hard. Your guild bank usually has too much gold to bring over and your guild ranks are disrupted when reformed--and with the guild reputation system that's now in place, it's become an even bigger nightmare. It seems that Blizzard finally intends to do something about this, as today they've announced that there is going to be a guild relocation and renaming feature coming sometime in the future to World of Warcraft.
If nothing else, this should provide some more incentive to take use of free server transfers that are offered time to time. And hey, who hasn't dreamed of renaming their guild before?
We want to give everyone an early heads-up regarding our plan to implement a guild relocation service for World of Warcraft. The idea is for a guild leader to be able to transfer a guild to another realm. The guild structure remains intact, including the guild leader, guild bank, ranks, and guild name (depending on availability).
Guild members who decide to relocate with their guild may initiate their own paid character transfer. Upon a successful transfer they will automatically be par

The Weekly Marmot - Gear vs Skill
This week I take a stab at the ever-popular Gear vs Skill debate. Which is more important? Can an undergeared player really outperform others just by the virtue of their own ability? Or is WoW really just a game of numbers, and whoever has the bigger ones wins?

Blizzard's Second Q+A Answered, UI Selected for Next Topic
Blizzard just posted their next set of answers to the
their second global Q+A session they held through the forums
recently. It's mostly a mixture of questions about balance, how PvP has changed from its earlier iterations, and what Blizzard is doing to address PvP in the future. Somehow there managed to not be that much complaining, all things considered!
Of course, there will be more of these sessions coming up in the near future. The topic of user interfaces is slated to be tackled next; starting at 4PM PDT today, Blizzard will field questions from NA players while
they are currently already taking
ones from EU players. We'll edit this post with a link when it goes alive.
Some of the topics of the questions they were asked include:
Death Match Battlegrounds

Wowhead Introduces Unified Login For Your ZAM Accounts
Wowhead and other ZAM sites (such as
TankSpot
and
ZAM
) will now feature unified login. All of your ZAM Network accounts that use the same email address will have the same master password and premium status. You can even log in to Wowhead with your email address now!
For those without other ZAM accounts, the login process will remain exactly the same.
If you have any other ZAM accounts with the same email address you will need to merge them. The merge process begins the first time you log into any of the affected sites. The first account that you log in with will set the master password for that email address. Thereafter, logging in to any other site with an account that uses the same email address will request a master password so you can merge your accounts.
If you have multiple accounts with multiple different emails, you can also now merge them into one unified account by changing your email address to match. You will be asked for your master password to authorize merging your email addresses. Changing your email address or password on any ZAM site will make similar changes on all other sites you use your unified login with.
Your login information is always st

Blizzard Posts on Cataclysm Raid Content: Is It Too Inaccessible?
Some fresh new Blizzard posts today discussing the accessibility and difficulty of Cataclysm raid content. While I'm sure most of this will be immediately dismissed as "casuals whining, lol" the posters do bring up some valid points and the Blizzard posters provide some excellent and thought-out answers. Not everyone is in a big guild, or can commit the time to meet certain raiding expectations - is Cataclysm content not intended for them? If not, what content is? Remember when it was the
mobs
who got buffed in raid dungeons (
Kälte des Thrones
or
Strahlen des Sonnenbrunnens
, anyone)?
How do you feel about the current state of Cataclysm raid content? Too hard? Too easy? TOO SOON?

Blizzard's Ask the Devs #3: User Interface
Blizzard has opened up yet another Ask the Devs Q+A thread, with this one asking for questions related to the World of Warcraft User Interface. Ever wonder why so many seemingly fundamental functionalities are limited to addons instead of being included in the default interface? Curious about upcoming UI changes in 4.1? Now's your chance to ask!
Be sure to check out Blizzard's previous Q+As:

here
and the US thread has yet to be posted. We will, of course, update the blog when it has been - so think of some really good questions!
Do not despair. We post the question for each region at an optimal time for that region (thus why EU posted "early".) In this case, we haven't posted for the North Ame

Changes to Valor Points and "Heroic Dailies" in Patch 4.1
Blizzard poster Lylirra has just revealed some details about the upcoming changes to the "daily" dungeon system and documents the new procedures for earning Valor Points this way. You can check out the full Blizzard posts after the break, but the basic rundown is:
You can earn
up to
980 VP per week from random Heroic dungeons.
Of that 980 VP, only 490 VP can be earned from tier 1 Cataclysm Heroics. The remaining 490 VP must be earned by running Rise of the Zandalari Heroics (tier 2).
Alternatively, you can reach the 980 VP cap exclusively by running tier 2 Heroics.
The 980 VP you can earn from running tier 1 and tier 2 random Heroic dungeons will count towards your weekly overall cap of 1250 VP.
And, as stated before, if you want to maximize your VP gains, you can still reach the overall weekly cap of 1250 by defeating raid level content.
What do you think? Personally, I'll enjoy being able to run all of my Heroics on a day that I can dedicate the time rather than sitting in queues every day, but how do you think this will affect Dungeon Finder queue dura

New Ghostcrawler Blog: Raid Progress
In his latest developer blog, Ghostcrawler talks about progression raiding. Aptly timed after some hotfixes to Cataclysm encounters last night, he addresses what Blizzard feels is the right and wrong way to strike balance in the heart of their raiding players. His major argument is that content is always being nerfed--whether through the raiders themselves acquiring better gear or Blizzard developers retuning encounters after their release. Moreover, he feels that everything is going as expected as this level of content starts to wrap up, citing pick-up groups on servers and guilds attempting encounters as positive signs that the first set of Cataclysm raids were a success.
Check out his thoughts on the state of raiding, progression, and the balancing act that ultimately comes into play with each set of new PvE content after the break.

PTR Shows New Daily Dungeon System + New Wowhead Feature: Event Calendar
There are a lot of in-game events nowadays. There are Call to Arms for battlegrounds some of us still haven't set foot in, the Darkmoon Faire is always coming and going, and then there are things like actual holidays and fishing tournaments. Keeping track of them can be confusing--or at least it
was
confusing. That all changes today as we've now added
an event calendar
to Wowhead that will show you what's going on in Azeroth right from the comfort of your own browser.
http://www.wowhead.com/events#calendar
Since it was an otherwise slow day, we also hopped on the PTR to confirm whether or not the daily dungeon had been changed--and it has! Players will now be able to do seven dungeons a week instead of one dungeon per day. Cue sighs of relief from everyone, I'm sure. I'd personally rather do seven dungeons in a row with a group of guildmates over the weekend than squeeze one in every day.
There were some new graphic setting

Latest Cataclysm Hotfixes (March 2 - 16)
It's been so long without Cataclysm hotfixes, I almost missed these! *runs away and hides*
Just a few new hotfixes since March began, as I'm sure Blizzard is extremely busy preparing for patch 4.1 and may finally be running out of things to hotfix in patch 4.0.6 (though I'm sure many of you guys will quickly and eagerly tell me how very wrong I am about that). There's still some time before 4.1 hits so we'll probably see a lot of necessary changes either making their way live or being implemented with the next patch!
This latest batch of hotfixes includes some modifications to Heroic difficulty
Pechschwingenabstieg

Zwillingsgipfel
, no more kiting
Shandris Mondfeder
to
Orgrimmar

Patch 4.1 - PTR Build 13750 - 3D Models (Lions and Ice Cream and Bears, Oh My!)
That's right -
ice cream
. There weren't very many new models this patch but the ones that were included definitely stand out. In addition, we've (also) decided to post the winged lion model that you may have already seen floating around other sites. This model was actually added a few builds ago but looks rather unfinished at this time. We will, of course, post an updated version as soon as its available. So... what do you think it is?
In addition to the lion, we've also got a new Amani Bear model which is simply a recoloring of the old
Kriegsbär der Amani
. No word yet on whether or not this is the finished version of the upcoming
Kampfbär der Amani
, or simply a dungeon NPC or otherwise, but judging by the fact that the Zul'Gurub raptor looks to have gotten a recolor as well, this may be the case. Laaaaaaaaaaame. Oh, well!
Also, ICE CREAMS. OM NOM NOM.
