While each Profession received its tweaks and adjustments in The War Within, most of the changes that were present in Dragonflight have been carried over to The War Within's Profession system as well. Work Orders
Crafting Orders are returning in The War Within, and a new feature, NPC Crafting Orders, is also being introduced! Crafting Orders are a way for players to provide their services in an Auction House-like setting. The main allure of Crafting Orders is allowing someone besides the Crafter to use a Bind on Pickup item - including armor, weapons, consumables, and more. In addition, NPC Crafting Orders, also known as Patron Work Orders, are a guaranteed way for crafters to fulfill Work Orders - and are now the primary method to obtain Knowledge Points in The War Within.

Recrafting
Recrafting is also returning for The War Within. Players will once again be able to craft gear, then adjust its item level, quality, secondary stats, and embellishments via the Recrafting system - allowing them to carry the original gear piece throughout the expansion's phases of content.

In The War Within, Quality will also be returning to crafting progressions - but with a twist. Reagent Quality is scaled much differently in The War Within, providing fewer bonuses at lower levels; for the average player, this means that reaching high-quality Rank 5 gear will be more time consuming (and could cost more gold).
Secondary Stats
New to the Secondary Stat system in The War Within is Ingenuity - a stat
replacing the previously much-used Inspiration
. Instead of randomly receiving a Skill bonus during the crafting process, players must now allocate Concentration for a guaranteed quality rank up in their final craft product. This Concentration functionality is a time-limited resource, meaning players sitting in Trade Chat all day recrafting over and over for that Inspiration proc is a thing of the past.
Profession Secondary Stats Explained
Knowledge Points
Knowledge is a returning currency that you can acquire during The War Within. Functionally the same as the system in Dragonflight, the key difference is that Khaz Algar Knowledge is
not
a shared pool with Dragonflight Knowledge, meaning everyone will start from square one when The War Within launches.

Optional Crafting Reagents
Optional Reagents have come to The War Within, bringing the Embellishment system and missives into a new expansion. Players still have agency over the stats and abilities crafted onto their weapons, and some powerful options are making an appearance in Khaz Algar.
