This does in fact zoom in from your character and isn't another Far Sight like I, for one, first thought.

This ability needs a serious upgrade. It is supposed to allow you to "look far into the distance". All it does is slightly increase your sight range, which in most cases is a complete waste of time to use this ability. IMO, taking the time to get off your mount and use Longsight should give you a near infinite sight range or at least allow you to look much farther than it does currently.

Just a little note:

Visual range and tracking radius appears to be ~80yds
Your minimap apparently covers ~160yd radius
Facing - RMB is not the same as your FOV - LMB

This ability appears to set your originating point of view ~80 yards ahead of you in the direction you are facing.

So...you can now track or see targets that are within an 80yd radius originating from 80yd in the direction you are FACING, if you turn your FOV180 degrees from your current facing you will notice NPC's have disappeared. Even ones you are standing next to.

Hard to explain, easy to understand when you figure out the game mechanics behind it.
