Question, does this pet get ripped in half (3 shot) like ferocity pets do in arena?
at least tenacity can live a few seconds longer for a lucky heal, so what about these cunning type, I actually never owned one

Why don't they just rename this pet class "Cobra"? All the tameable Serpents are Cobras.

Hey, just to let you know, I am currently a BM hunter at level 69 now, and I dont know about you guys, but my cunning pets do way more dps than ferocity pets now due to the Wolverine Bite cunning pets can now get. In randoms with some buffs, (like kings on me and might on my pet) on a boss i can pull around 1400 dps, and normally around 52-59% of my dps is my pet. I tested out a couple of cunning pets, and the ones that seem to the most damage is the Nether Ray, and its strange because its CD on its ability is 28 seconds. Strangely enough my Sporebat is one of my highest DPS pets, then followed by the Chimaera and then my raptor (which is my backup pet if the boss does alot of damage to pets.)

So I guess since the change on Wolverine Bite, I see cunning pets the #1 on dps again, but ferocity not much behind.

I don't usually play hunters but i figure id give it another shot and im luvin it especially since i was lucky enough
have sumone help me tame a deivate addor and pvp has never been funner and im prtty sure it will be later on
as well im prbbly gunna stick wit it til i can tame exotics. but i highly recommend to anyone to tame a serpent
as soon as u can you'll luv it.

One of the best pets now, GREAT if you don't have anyone to provide the serpent buff of, after stacked, 12% armor deduction. And for the post that said that serpents were cunning at that they only applied spit at range, cunning pets have been found to be doing more damage (or equal damage) and the spit ability has been fixed to apply at close range. This makes them better than raptors because they CAN apply their spit at a range, and they are more survivable during raids (because serpents, being cunning, by default get more health than ferocity pets) while doing the same amount of damage as ferocity pets. My current 5 pet stable lineup is: (I am BM, so much fun atm :D)
1.) Serpent skin olive, Spira great armor debuff
2.) White, non-metal-ish Chimaera, KisasiKuzimu (two heads ;) ) Good aoe when needed, decent dps all around. Also good for slowing.
3.) Skoll electric wolf spirit beast, renamed Caerulea (my main pet) Has the Horn of Winter buff, plus a healing ability that is fantastic for tight situations, great for new dungeons
4.) the Purple/Blue Jormungar worm, Schnoogums Good soloing pet, great aoe, but solo dps is ehh ok, being tenacity. D;
5.) 5th slot rotates depending on what I may need at the moment. (what buff from what pet is requested)

This is what I recommend as your pet lineup, but of course, according to preference, many different pets can be substituted, especially if you lack the exotic talent. Cats for spirit beasts, raptors for serpents, etc. But exotic pets have a unique, extra ability to make them worthwhile (like the spirit beast and cat have Horn of Winter and prowl, but only Spirit Beast has spirit mend.)

I love my snake. i got the white one from Shadowmoon, and ive had him since BC only to watch him improve in utility over the years. My hunters stable mainly rounds out the most useful buffs i can bring (I'm surv).
1- Wolf - Scooty (5% crit = amazing)
2 - Cat - Fudgy (horn of winter aka battleshout)
3 - Serpent - Jake (for when a warrior is absent)
4 - Wind Serpent - Wigglebird. He's just too darn wiggly, but gives 8% spell damage. Must have.
5 - Crocolisk - Swampy .

Corrosive Spit is very useful in parties and raids, but is comparable to and does not stack with Protection 战士s' , Assassination 潜行者s' 玄秘掌, 德鲁伊s' /, or 猎人s' 迅猛龙s' , so if your group has one of those you can bring a different pet.

in Patch 5.1 this pet family will be expanded to include the Arcane Serpents in northrend.

The colors available are:

Purple (found in that purple crater that the Nexus is in)

White (Flying high over the Nexus.)

and Red (rare in Silithus)

Wowhead needs to update its serpent description there is a rare serpent that spawns it is Acroniss in Twilights Run in the back of the cave it is a red serpent that floats above ground.

Serpents Cunning now (6.0.2) gives spell power instead of haste.

If you're after haste, go for a Hyena, Wasp, Sporebat or Exotic Rylak (WoD).
Unfortunately these all provide 5%, although Exotic Rylaks also provide 10% stam
