Had one of these stun me and steal my Golden Treasure Chest loot.
Gotta recover quick to catch and kill them, otherwise you lose the chance at a key and parchments.

Helpful tip for killing him:

~~He seems to always spawn by looting the Golden Chest just to the left of you when you enter the second room, in between two "beam tower" circles.~~ Drop a 冰霜符文陷阱 a few yards behind you before looting the chest, between yourself and the direction the pillager will run (towards the center of the room, towards the exit door). Far enough that the saurok won't spawn immediately on top of it. The effect does not break on damage and will allow you to burst the reasonably-small HP saurok down in short order without having to snare/chase him down (and no doubt aggro a few trolls onto you in the process).

Note that the activation of the trap can delay, and in one personal instance froze him in the corner of the stairs you enter on, causing line of sight issues.

EDIT: Can spawn from multiple chest locations, apparently. Personally he's always spawned from the first chest on your left.

Mine didn't drop a key. Dropped the Stolen Gems and some gold. That was it. It's not a 100% drop rate for keys.

if you don't kill him immediately he will unlock both doors between the second and third room. If you stay on his heals, you can slip past before they close, giving you a little more time in the fourth room. You still need to unlock the doors to the fourth room, I recommend using a key and frost rune.

As noted by odok, the most successful method by far is laying a frost rune trap right behind you as you are opening chests. I've found that the saurok most often appears when looting in the 2nd room. A big plus to this method is that you'll be able to DPS him while he's CC'ed, and no dealing with the entire room being aggro'ed

Can he actually be slowed? I'm guessing he can, just don't recall seeing anyone mention slowing him, just Frost Trapping and stunning. Cuz if he can then I think next time I'll grab some Piercing Howl and howl at his sorry ass! =P

This guy is frustrating as hell. He spawns only in the second room for me, but there are a ton of trove chests, where he will spawn randomly. If you use sleep powder, it will just reset the cooldown of the frost trap, so you have to kill the trash, which can be a pain given their high hp, all for a chest that may or may not have it, with a rune trap which he might, or might not step on. This is horrible for those without ranged cc or super speed boosts.

Also, when he is eventually trapped, cc him first (preferably root/slow) before breaking the frost trap.

Just wanted to add an update: As of 5.3, it seems the Frost Rune traps now break on damage. I have trapped him twice in the last couple of days, and both times, the trap broke as soon as I hit him. Might be a bug, but I wouldnt count on it.

As a balance druid - I thought having to stand still to cast would be a pain, but boomkins have a few abilities that make this rather simple when you figure it out. I made a macro for Nature's Swiftness and Entangling Roots to make the roots instant, and used it on him as soon as his stun was over. Don't get impatient here, this is the most important part: get as far ahead of him as you can while still being able to attack. Start burning him down and if your DPS is good enough, he should die before he gets too far ahead. He has to stop for a sec to unlock door anyway, if he does, go through it. You can use Ursol's Vortex and put it in his way to give yourself more time.

Be sure to clear the Zandalari casters, that deathgrip/grapple thing they do will be the end of your efforts that run. And remember, there will be two chests (always gold?) next to eachother, I believe he always is with the left one. Don't give up guys!

For shamans just place a Earthgrab Totem and open, if you have decent dmg you should be able to take it down just with that, and no need to try and place a trap on the right path.
You can also place a 2sec Capacitor Totem right after you get out of stun, should make it so most shamans can kill him.
