Duel'ed this guy by accident w/ a 51 warrior, being a 54 hunter beast specced i held most of the aggro (with cats help). Scored Swashbuckler's Breastplate of the Monkey, decent rogue gear.

Solo'd this as 55 Shadow Priest very easily. Kept shield up and just wanded him to death.

Wasn't worth the drop though.

Considering the appearance of Gruffscale Leggings on the PTR, it looks like his drop is finally getting fixed.

Just killed him on my 53 hunter, easy as pie, pet died in the end.
Dropped Gruffscale Leggings, DAMN NICE, a fine upgrade to my 11 agi monkey pants.
16 agi and 32 ap!
Skinned him for a rugged hide after.

Still present after the cataclysm (if not added back in with the 4.0.6 patch where they restored many missing rares). He is now green instead of blue.

When pulled with Faerie Fire (I'm 85, didn't wanna one-shot the guy) he chain-cast a Chain Lightning attack. When silenced with Solar Beam he ran up to melee me. When Solar Beam faded he did not immediately go back to casting.
Eventually he cast some sort of Thunder Clap-esque attack sans any sort of debuff, and then I killed him with some melee swings.

He's also HUGE! Compared to me in Moonkin form he was over twice my height, and that was when dead and crumpled.

Dropped Swashbuckler's Shoulders of the Owl. Was skinnable on mouse-over.

Just killed him on my 85 hunter (one shotted, as you might expect). He dropped Wanderer's Shoulders of the Owl, and skins to 1 Rugged Leather.

He's Neutral so he wont attack you unless you do. :) He's not (or no longer) an elite. He has 6078 Health and 2041 Mana. This is as of Patch 4.1A

I found and killed Gruff tonight. Curiously, he dropped two Uncommon items of loot: Jadefire Pants of the Monkey, and Wanderer's Gloves of Arcane Wrath. Also a junk Shed Lizard Skin.

Found him at 32.1, 79.2. For those not using coords, find the words TERROR RUN in Un'goro, go directly south of the two letters ER in TERROR until you hit the spot where the mountains are on the southern part of Un'goro. He just stands in one spot and doesn't budge.

Ive been farming him for a several days trying to get jade breastplate, and spawn time seems to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 2 hrs.

For all you hunters hoping to add another Rare to your stable, Gruff is untameable. I found out the hard way after camping him for 2 1/4 hours.

As of patch 7.1.5, I have killed Gruff four consecutive times, with a spawn timer of 3 hours. Whether spawn timers vary or not, I do not know, but i have been killing him 3 hours apart.

I tamed this beauty just before 8:30pm EST on March 31, 2019 on MoonGuard (US). It's surprising that a stegodon/scalehide is ferocity.

I'm after the Gruffscale Leggings, but with the timer being 3 hrs after each kill for him to spawn, and the 8% drop rate, one must calculate whether this is worth camping a character in Un'goro for, or if the price on the AH looks after things for the lucky people who found them and are selling them.

In my opinion, I have to weigh out whether or not I can just make 23K gold (the current price on the AH), from any point from 3 hours onward, which is the equivalent of just killing him and hopefully getting them, and that's providing there is no competition around doing the same thing.

After one kill and waiting, it certainly looks like purchasing them off the AH might just be worth it, allow yourself some gold farming in the meantime to make it worth while.
