Oh a note, it seems that when captured the pickaxe currently is held between their middle and ring finger. This may just be a glitch.

Also they do a different idle animation when inside deadmines from what i've seen.

When stabled, the pickaxe is removed from their hand but this is only in the stable window. When withdrawn it holds it again

One interesting thing about these monkeys is that, as cunning pets, they have an awkward tree.

They have Mobility, which requires one point in Dive, but they can't get it because they have Dash instead. And while they don't eat meat, they can get Carrion Feeder to eat dead bodies.

I badly want this monkey, but I'm much too high of a level to go in there (59) so how can I manage to get it without having to wait for Heroics?

Has blizz made the axe disappear when tamed? I've tried freezing them in place and taming, regular taming, all sorts of stuff...... always lose their axe :-(

Also wanted to mention ---- You dont need to DISMISS your pet then call him out again if you have a Color Changing Monkey (Vale Howler from STV)... just mount, then unmount and he'll be different colored... saves on having to worry about his Happy status (if you dont have the Glyph)

Wow, just WOW... see what LFG/PuG has done to the noobs of this game?

Created people who don't realize that the terms LFG and PUG existed before WoW itself, let alone the advent of the Dungeon Finder?

The original post is simply a testament to how successful the Dungeon Finder is. That person is lucky enough to have never had to stand around in a capital city for hours, trying to find a group. If the price for that luxury is not knowing that he/she could enter dungeons solo, on what is presumably their first character, at level 59, I think it is a fair trade. You can hit level 59 on a new character by sneezing nowadays. They may have never entered a dungeon at all.

Some people learn things by asking questions. Imagine that! Thank you Icarui for providing an actual answer for them.
