This guy definitely wins the Most Annoying NPC in Un'goro award.

Gotta love him though for his epic rescue of the cliff damsel. Thats EXACTLY what we should all be doing with Alliance. :D

In my opinion this NPC also seems a typical 12-year-old ally player on a trial account:

- Riding the ugliest horse ingame.
- Typing in CAPS.
- Filling your screen with /yells.
- Wants to fight "dragons".
- Saving 'ladies' that dont need help.
- Blaming someone else if something goes wrong: "Before I take my leave, you must be told that it is not by my fault that you lay stretched on the ground, but by the fault of my squire."

But his quests made me rofl: Every player should do his quest-chain!

He is two easter eggs in one. The first being Don Quixote De La Mancha for his ludicrous imagination and the second being Maximo from the infamous playstation game. Very fun quests.

I just had the pleasure of doing this knight's chain quests. I wanted to mention for the last one, please make sure you have some space in your bags. It was the longest pony ride I've ever had, while pelting rocks to whittle away 5k off that dragon. Still I loved it!

As an FYI there is a potential exploit involved with this NPC. As you go through the quest chain, he'll follow you around and fight with you. He'll also cast blessing of kings on you (the old school one with a 10% buff) with a 10 min duration. I didn't verify if the buff actually applies said benefit, but if it does, raid members can receive the buff and be summoned to a raid with an extra buff for a boss fight. If you complete the quest chain you will be unable to receive the buff from him. I did this quest chain on my paladin, and both my blessing of kings and his blessing of kings were both active.

He dropped me off just south of his camp at the end of the Queen ~~Dinosaur~~Dragon fight, and ten seconds later when I got back to him he already had all his armor back.

Either you start the "dragon" slaying or he will. He'll waste no time, hollering "DRAGON!" then charging towards almost every elite stegodon around.

Edit- Hah doing the last "damsel", i lol'd as he adressed me to pickup "her" (his) purse in the water.. and then proceeded to run out into the water as my pet xD

It's my opinion that they named him "Maximillian" after the Suikoden character(s) with the same name. (the Suikoden characters were, in fact, modeled after Don Quixote)

Judging from the hash marks on his sheild, Maximillian is apparently keeping track of the "dragons" he's killed. Or possibly Damsels he saved from distress?

北郡骑士麦斯米兰 says: What ho, fellow knights! Are we fully barded and armored? Then let us thrust ourselves deeply into that which they call adventure!

I don't think I have enjoyed a quest so much in my entire wow time. And the 玩具风车Toy Windmill served my druid into Northrend too. :D Has to be the best trinket for the level in the game ...at least for an agility user.

It would be so epic if blizz would add this guy in some major raids such as Dragon Soul.

Imagine you are on Madness of Deathwing and as you start the encounter Maximillian bursts in and yell "DRAGON!"

I mean, I would piss my self in laughter LOL.

Him saying that battle cry rang a bell. In League of Legends there is a knight named Garen whose battle cry is "For Damacia!"

Beings that the meaning of Doloria hasn't been ascertained, I'm banking on this as a subtle nod.

Beign the only npc appointed to come from Northshire - excluding Maximillian, i firmly believe that she is (http://www.hearthhead.com/card=1650/northshire-cleric) indeed his beloved Doloria.
Though she may be aswell her sister (maybe Blizzard are planning to actualy release a card Doloria "hearth of Maximillian").
Either ways this guy is the most funny npc i've ever encountered in Azeroth.
The thing that made me laugh the most was when i was standing next to him, "recieving" the blessing of the Light. After he finished the prayer, the enraged spirit actually listened to him and left!
He isn't even a shaman, how can he soothe enraged elementals! (a feat achieved only by a skillfull shamans)
And after that he just told me: "Squire, i don't know what have you done to anger the Light so much, but i am impressed with your patience - taking all that pummeling!" or something of the sort, i laught so hard!

He reminds me of a character from The Ballad of the Noob - World of Warcraft machinima. Isn't this a reference? Level 60, same face, same hair, crazy fool, name of the last quest. Yet there is a possible difference in class as Maximillian appears to be a Paladin, while Noob is definitely a Warrior.

All of this also with a reference to Don Quixote, as said in other comments.

Just found this guy in Tanaris during the Legion Invasion event. He was fighting a few demons just south of The Nocious Lair.

I have been going through old content, levelling a new toon slowly, working on Loremaster and just enjoying all the intricacies that are easy to miss in a mad dash to level cap. I assumed, after talking to Maximillian of Northshire that I was just on another quest, not thinking much of it. Then I saved the damsel in distress...the male one...the male blood elf one...and I laughed so hard I cried. The rest of the storyline was no less incredible.

I haven't had that much fun in game in a LONG time (if ever). Maximillian (and his proud, faithful steed Pimento) are now my favorite characters in WOW (probably in anything...ever). His story is greater and far nobler than other more loudly-sung heroes of history like Romeo, Achilles or any of the Spartans. I wish I could get him to permanently tag around with me...in-game...and IRL.

Just...fantastic.

After all this time, I'm surprised no one commented on his sword. He is using 征服者之剑. Also, the shield is 大元帅的庇护之盾 but that is more well-known.

One of the best NPCs imho, and if you are paladin, you can get somem extra quests with him that ends with Maximilian of Northshire being your new Champion for your class hall.
In this video, you can see my experience with this quest getting him as champion.

If you are not receiving the letter when you enter your Class Hall, try making Nerus Moonfang your combat ally. I was not receiving the letter after weeks of completing the Un"goro quest and having done the 7.2 quests for Nerus. Decided one day to switch out Arathor for Nerus and boom, Letter in mailbox the next time i entered Class hall.

Max- No need! Now that I have my sword, I am complete and can continue about my day!
Tawny- What an odd person.

At this point Max walks all the way down to the docks and then vanishes.... presumably back to his post in Un'goro!
