No quest about him, no special drop, not a goal anywhere - what's the point of him being a named? Anyone know?

It feels as if Blizzard has forgotten about his existance. He's a nameb mob for no reason, and he yells "For the thane! For Kronus!" every now and then (Kronus was the name of Loken in the beta).

As of 3.0.8, it seems "For the thane! For Kronus!" has been corrected to "For the thane! For Loken!"
He also yells: "To battle, my children! Show the enemy no mercy!" and "Constructs, defend the capital at all costs!"

I think this may just be for flavor. There's pleanty of NPCs in the game that are named but have no purpose.

Based on what he says, for a pure flavor aspect, maybe he's the one 'forging' the golems to send them in to battle the earthen. There is a constant 'battle' going on between the Iron Dwarves, their constructs, and the Earthen. So perhaps he is intentionally just there for flavor.

he also has the highest drop rate for 矮人的十面骰 when you pickpocket him.
