It's weird how the DEHTA didn't give any quests involving these guys and the other oil-covered animals in the vicinity, given their camp is pretty close. I suppose they were too busy dealing with Nesingwary's cronies. It's also possible Blizzard felt there were too many quests in Borean Tundra already.

Sadly they don't take increased damage from fire spells

The Hawk is not tamable, but the fledglings are.

The way to keep the Oil Covered is by
1. Setting down an Immolation Trap, pulling the fledgling to it (I used tame to not cause damage) and let the trap kill it slowly.

2. You want your tame to end at the same moment the bird dies.

3. Immediately cast revive pet to force the body to disappear (but do not complete the revival).

4. Relog, and check your character screen (you'll know you succeeded when you see him flying behind you.)

5. Ressurect your pet after logging in, and enjoy your new Oil Covered Bird of Prey.

All of the oil coated animals there don't keep there oily black appearance apparently when you tame them I assume that the FLASH drops in and gives them a bath the micro second that you tame them. I was looking forward the jet black wolf.
