Health: 96,273 HP

Abilities:

* Shadow Bolt
* After 20 seconds, this boss summons 5 undead skeletons with approximately 7,000 HP. They will cast Decrepify on their target. All methods of undead CC work on them. Once they have all been killed, they will respawn.
* The boss will cast Ice Tomb on a random party member. It lasts 20 seconds and causes 400 damage per Second. Ice Tombs have roughly 7,000 HP.

Strategy:

* "There are four Vykrul standing in between you and the Prince. These can be pulled seperately from him, but all four of them will come together. These are just normal mobs found throughout the instance. ~~Once the fourth one dies, the Prince will run towards your party.~~ Have the tank pick him up, and start dps'ing him down. He will cast Frost Tomb from time to time on any member of your party including your tank that freezes them in a block of ice for 20 seconds. It can be removed via Ice Block or Divine Shield. Four Vykrul Skeletons will enter the room from the door on the left. They do not have a lot of health and can be killed quickly. Make sure to keep them grouped up when they die as Keleseth will resurrect them throughout the fight. When they are resurrected, they will still have the same amount of health as before and can be easily dealt with. It is best to kill them quickly in case your tank becomes Frost Tombed or they can be off-tanked if your group's gear is overpowered for the encounter."

He no longer engages you after the room is clear. You have time to drink or whatever.

And they updated his model, the malefic gear isnt what he has now, he has the darkfallen model now.

Edit: Seems like he got another make over as of patch 3.2.2. Now he has black and white hair and his armor is more red and orange instead of red and green.

I had a horrible time healing this, even with Earth Shield on the tank the skeletons went right for me.

The healer should position himself behind the tank so the skeletons have to run through the tank to get to him, which gives the tank a chance to pick them up.

The tank and healer are not immune to Frost Tomb either, and they should be freed ASAP if they get hit.

*!@# easy instance and fight

We had MH/T5/T6 Pala as tank and it was a breeze beyond belief...
Rest of setup was:
Holy priest (me)
Mage
Boomkin
yes.... we did it 4-man.

The first furnace room we were pulling 10 mobs a time, the two others were aoe'ing for the life of them and we quickly came to the conclusion we could prolly lvl faster by doing up till 1st boss only like this and then reset as we were getting around 13k xp pr. pull hehe.

Anyways, instead of listening to the tacs described around the net, we just hugged tank and kept hugging him. His concecration brought down the web fast and picked up the adds accordingly.
We had no trouble what so ever after trying him the first time.

Would prolly be a lot different for a war tank but hey... such is life. We cleared the whole thing in 35 min only because we wiped twice... apart from that it was chain pulling en-mass :P

FYI - The skeletons are fairly weak. Two or three Arcane Explosions should burn the entire group down.

we've tryied 3 times Utgard last days with different grp mates and we've discovered that you can destroy the ice tumb, simply focus your mate who's in and dps, like for Terrestian (chain jail)if you remember.

at last without a good stuff, i mean T4/5 or more.....:p, it's really not easy, if you just ding 70 good luck :(

I haven't run this instance yet but I have a question. If the summoned skeletons only resurrect once they've all been killed, wouldn't it make sense to kill them all except for one. Keep the one remaining skeleton alive but shackled for the remainder of the fight and that way they will never resurrect. Would this work?

Kelseth's Shadowbolts do not appear to be reflect-able by warrior Spell Reflect ability. His spell-casts can't be interrupted and can not be mitigated short of resist (assuming even that is possible).

For a warrior with Titan's Grip talent, Kelseth is easy to DPS, and whirl-wind the skeleton-adds.

He is friendly to you in the death knight starter place and can be found in the crypt of rememberence and afterwards at deaths breach, although he goes to Utgarde keep after Arthas betrayed the knights of the ebon blade (although thats the name of the people that was betrayed by Arthas)

His Ice Tombs are Immune to Frost Damage. Playing DPS on my Frost Death Knight yesterday, breaking these requires Obliterate for example, and not Icy Touch, Howling Blast, or Frost Strike.

Does anyone else notice that on heroic mode, even with 540 defense, he can still crit you?

Its happened to me twice. With 540 defense(and yes, I'm reading my character pane correctly). I've tanked bosses in Naxx numerous times with no crits.

What gives?

I'd like to have a Frost mage for this fight.

It was really nassssty running all around the room for the skeleton spawns. And it really breaks Rogue DPS.

So - just one valid note - keep spawns together!

What is different with these Northrend bosses I met so far is that a warrior's Spell Reflection doesn't work at all.
It never reflects, popped it a couple of times but always got hit.
So save the rage to pick up the adds.
Basicly he doesn't do a lot of melee so facing him with ur back to pick up some adds isn't that bad.

The tip from the healer shaman who was standing near the tank is great.
Since the adds at least at normal UK doesn't have a lot of hp and they don't hit that hard. A dps can easily kill them without too much hassle.

Fun fight, had tank face him away from group and then burned him down fast, Boomkin and lock spammed AoE during the adds pretty fast fight, had a strange thing happen the other night where the tank took a 18k hit, not sure must have been a bug.
Other than that Tank and Spank and just keep adds off the healer (healer should stay to the left so adds run through the tank.

Okay: when u first encounter him, he begins to cast shadowbolt as mainly attack. make sure to have picked one of ur dpses to take out the Adds he spawn. He spawns some skellys that will aggro on healer if not taken care of. He Also randomly casts Ice tomb on PPL. Pick a DPS to destroy the tomb once casted. The tomb should be attackable. Keep doing this, and u should get him.

He drops Bouquet of Ebon Roses needed for the My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose achievement. He drops this on both normal and heroic difficulties. If you have a group of 5 people you can all get the bouquet in about an hour.

I just soloed this as a Unholy Raid DPS specced DK. Put on your PvP/Tanking gear and go in Frost presence.

Pop army of dead, engage Keleseth and nuke him down. Pop Death and Decay when he spawns the adds.

The tricky part was when he Ice Blocked me but just make sure you have some health before he does it.

Would be hard for a Warlock to solo this, but just duoed with two similar Heroic Naxx geared, Demo specced locks, level 80. For the My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose achievement.

We trioed the heroic and our team consisted of a mage, a priest and a druid (me) in decent epic and blues. All the bosses were straightforward and there were no wipes until him. We later learned that it's paramount to have everyone sit almost on top of him so the cc can be dealt with asap. As a feral tank, it's best to wear the pvp trinket in case you are low on health or if your healer is cced, to have a SI, barkskin, and frenzied regen popped at the same time.

Despite knowing the strategy it is still a challenging fight. If you don't use macros or have end game gear, don't try attempting to two or three man him. He requires you to be on guard, more so than any other boss.

Other than that he was loads of fun. Much harder than ingvar and we'll be making more trio runs in other heroics.

Accouple of corrections and comments wrt Heroic mode.

The Ice Tombs do not have a 20yrd range and will hit anyone within 40yrd min (healer was within range of me and still gets hit).

At 287 Frost Resist they tombs are not resisted.

The unfortunate part of this is it makes him impossible to duo unless both the tank and healer have additional ways to break out of Ice Tomb (Disc Priest and Frost DK only had the PvP trinkets available).

On the plus side he IS skippable, and I can confirm the rest of the instance is can be done as a duo.

Something strange I noticed about this guy: His general Al behaviour is that of a blood elf's (casting, moving), but his death is that of a night elf. Not really important but I just wanted to state it out =D

apparently he was changed into ?-lvl boss. before 3.3 he was a standard 81-lvl heroic boss.

Anyone else noticed that he is a level skull bossmob, instead of a level 82 like most other 5-man bosses are?

That means that you need the stats for a raid for this guy. Casters need 17% hit, melee need 8% hit and 26 expertise, tanks need 540 defense (or so, read that he can crit even if you are at 540).

I've been wondering for a while why he is a ? Boss. Finally came on here to check. Not sure if it was just a lucky (or unlucky) crit, but I got one shotted on this guy on my warrior. In battle stance, I can take a few hits before I go down if I accidentally aggro. I guess the point being, he one shotted me in plate for over 20k, so he hits like a raid boss in addition to simply being a ?

The idea of him being a raid boss in ICC makes sense if Blizz made a blunder during developement, but he's been a ? Boss for a while now in the heroic. Seems like Blizz would have caught that by now.

Since Patch 3.2.2 he has become a Level ? (Boss) instead of a Level 72-82 (Elite) like before.
Combat bosses are actually not supposed to be in a 5-Man Dungeon. Even not in Heroic...

On regular he's ? for some reason instead of lvl 72. None of the other bosses in the instance are like that.

I'm guessing it has to do with him being in ICC. Could of been a bug.

Just solo'd him as retribution for the achievement
Jasteus of Cenarion Circle if anyone is curious about gear reqs. I think he would have been soloable as prot just as easily if not easier, just would have taken longer.

Solod as a frost mage. 5396gs

Popped water elemental, he started the fight.
Shadow bolts do high damage but if you got ice barrier on it won't be so hard, he misses alot also.
At the middle I popped CD's and when adds spawn I AoE them down. Only 2500hp so...

Got him down with only useing evocation once (with the hp glyph) and no potions.

Soloed as a 14/0/57 shadow priest. Nothing special gearwise, just heroic/emblem junk. You'll want to PvP trinket the first frost tomb, mind sear the skeletons, and refresh your dots. 14 seconds from the first frost tomb, get your shadowfriend out to break the second frost tomb. Ideally, Keleseth will be down to less than 20k hp by the time the third frost tomb is cast. Refresh your DoTs to their full duration just before the tomb hits and disperse if you're low on HP. Easily soloed as Ret pally.

Tactics:

Pull as little as possible on your way there. Use repentance wisely, as the dragonkin can't be put into repenting. Only use on humans.

Boss fight is easy. I only had 3 ice blocks on me. 1st I HoF'd out of, 2nd was a bubble, 3rd was another HoF. I had SoL and judged light on the boss. Lowest health i got was 25%, due to having to wait on HoF CD. Hey... i burned em down too fast :) Be sure to drop Cons and use holy wrath when the undead spawn, as they die very easily. Fight took all of a minute or 2, killing from 150k.

I needed to kill him to get my bouquet of roses, so i tried to solo him on normal mode =) after a couple of false starts, i figured out how to do it. you need to find a way to survive one of his frost tombs! just one. after the first one, you are immune to being tombed again.

For me as a shaman, i sat close to the boss and used my fire elemental pet, which does aoe damage and was able to break me out of the tomb. after that, it was a cake walk! Just do some aoe whenever he summons the skeletons and smack him down! got my roses and now i am a LOVE FOOL! yay!

Fairly easily soloed on heroic mode as a level 85 frost mage.

Didn't have to blow any cooldowns, and his adds were utterly trivial; I just Ice Lanced them down. I got the warning that he was casting Frost Tomb on me, but it never actually happened. I don't know if he missed, or just never actually cast it. Otherwise it was just pop Time Warp at the start, keep up Ice Barrier, and nuke the hell out of him. Finished around 25% health.

This encounter would be much easier for non-cloth-wearing classes.

Soloed this for using 85 fire mage, probably could have soloed at 82 (won't confirm since I can't). Polyed one pat in a large mob but probably didn't even need to since the mobs would drop within 5-7 seconds max. Got the boquet and achieve from the boss, no need for heroics.

After using it for the first time he spams Frost Tomb, i. e. you have max 1 sec after getting out and you are frozen again.

Just forget about soloing this guy if you're a Death Knight and you have no way to bypass Frost Tomb. I managed to last a few minutes with Army of the Dead, but then he just kept Frost Tombing me. Every Man for Himself, nice, gets you out of it, but 1 sec later he does it again. And don't go hoping the horror will end when the timer goes to zero, because he'll do it again and again until his skeletons have slowly murdered you.

Never experienced such an unfair boss fight.

I soloed on my 85 protection paladin with ilevel 378. Having the resistance aura on me, he put Frost Tomb on me once and had his army of skeletons on me. It was manageable. However, the Hand of Freedom does not work. I know the bubble works, but didn't need to use it. I would say he was manageable.

Soloed him a moment ago: protection paly, 373 ilvl tank gear, with resistance aura, but more importantly with smart use of consecration - when he emotes casting, drop consecration and it will free you within a seconds. Managed to use it every second Frost Tomb:)

just soloed him tonight as a level 90 monk, with no issues went down in a second or two..but something really strange happened..despite the boss being down and the skeletons killed in the same room...these same skeletons are rezzing every handful of seconds and chasing me around the dungeon..i kill them and they almost instantly respawn. Was taking a lower level through for xp and loot..either this is bugged..or its something new they just did to this place (5.4.7 patch) just be aware of it, if running a lowbee through the place.

Man, I want this guy's armor. I know there's a mage set similar to his but the purple/yellow combo is too bright. Actually, better yet, just make Darkfallen a playable race.
Edit: Aaannd nevermind, just found out there is a set closer to his hahaha.
