Yes, really easy quest. Just kill the Infested Root-walkers around the edge as marked on the map. You'll get the wood mites spawn once you have killed it. Got this done by killing about 4 Infested Root-walkers. You can also kill the Rotting Forest-Ragers.

Additional, the mites that spawn when you kill the mobs containing them have very little hp. (For example, a Frost Nova as a mage is enough to take them out).

Perfect exp for those late nights. (The quest, not the mites, they don't give anything)

Killing the mites using any aoe spell i have tried makes them not count for the quest. I have tried with magma totem, fire nova totem, hunters volley and also had the pet kill them.

Note that the mites disappear after only a few seconds, so kill them quickly. If you have any AOE spell, use it.
And they dont have 4'900 hp like it says here, only 100 hp.

To all shamans, if your totem kills the Mites the kill doesnt count! So use chain lightning, or just other damaging spells/melee attacks.
They only have about 100hp or so.

Killing the Infested Root-Walkers will summon from 1 - 4 of the Wood Mite's.

Note: Infested Root-Walkers must be dead completely before the Wood Mite get released.

If someone else that don't have this quest kills the mob they won't spawn any Wood Mites. I used my 70 hunter to help my paladin and I killed about 15 trees without any spawns. Worked when I took it down to 10% and finsihed it of with my paladin.

I have killed 15 infested protectors and only 13 mites have dropped. Is there any special way to do it?

As a 65 hunter, I just found out that if your pet kills a mite it WILL NOT count towards your mite kills.
