Gankly Rottenfist, spotted dead at Nesingwary's Safari in Nagrand. Apparently some traditions never die!

This guy ambushed me when I first got to Nagrand as the first player on the server. Not sure if he respawns cause I've never seen him after that.

He stood at Nesingwary's facing an npc, he attacked me when I came within aggro range, and used every skill a reckless rogue would use. Didn't realize that he was a npc before I killed him thinking that it was one sucky rogue.

This is actually a quest. There's a gnome NPC named Kristen DeMaza who gets attacked by Gankly. If you save her, she gives you a quest for an easy 11k exp, you just have to talk to the laying down guy.

Spawned on top of me as I went there to turn in the last of the quests. Lucky me, I had ress sickness. He followed me through most of Zangarmarsh and killed me, I didnt strike him once.

So I guess this bastard follows you till either of you die. Fun, eh?

Like the others that commented, I also saw him standing over the fellow that's always laying down that hands out the talbuk quests. It freaked me out seeing an undead rogue with his name in red standing over him. I thought nothing of it at first when I started to turn in the quests. Then the rogue immediately started to attack me. I easily killed him, but the attack startled me because it was so unexpected.

Random event at Nesingwary's. He comes in stealth to attack Kristen DeMeza (http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=18294) and once he dies she has a quest to give you. Turn around and deliver the bundle of skins to get an easy 11k exp. Just have to be right place, right time. The quest that is given can be found here: http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=9897

This guy fights like a real rogue and even jumps. If you run he will chase you endlessly until he's dead. He uses ocasionally uses sprint, shiv/crippling poison, and shadowstep. If he manages to kill you (He hits for almost nothing and has very little hp) he will camp your corpse for a few minutes until he despawns.

I was alt-tabbed looking at wowhead when Gankly attacked me. I also thought it was a real rogue, until I realized my Felguard had pretty much handed his ass to him without a thought from me.

Bravo Blizzard on a quest a little unlike anything else I've seen in WoW. WTB more creativity!

So I came here to look him up to see what he was about, and read the comments about how the gnome is supposed to give a quest. Looked back at my other monitor and sure enough, there's the yellow ! above her head. I thought it was kinda funny.

It's interesting that even if you are not the one killing Gankly you still get the quest from the gnome. She says that she likes to share because she escaped and the guy on the ground says he didn't see anything but still gives you the reward :D. I logged near the safari and found the quest giver thinking from wtf she came from.

While this does appear to be an hourly event, the time it occurs within the hour appears to be random and possibly shared with the Talbuk event. The first time the event started was x:13 server, the second time I saw the event a couple days later was at x:23 server.

I went afk at Nesingwary around 17.05-17.10 and when I returned 5-10 minutes later I was dead. He hits for around 100-200 on leather at lvl 66. He must have really terrible hit rating becuase half of his attacks did either miss or I dodged them =)

This guy chased me all over nagrand. He would just not give up, so I went back to town and let the guards take care of him.

Was on a level 58 toon, running around getting Flight points... Came down from Zangarmarsh, into Nagrand and found this guy fighting Kristen. Being that I was 58, and he's 65, I didn't bother even attacking him.

I then ran all the way into Telaar, went AFK to use the restroom, came back, and noticed I was in combat. Thinking it was some kind of glitch, I walked outside to agro something, so I could re-drop combat. Within seconds this guy popped out of stealth and started attacking me...Took 2 steps back, and watched the guards 2-shot him.

Long story short, he followed me all the way to Telaar, from the Camp. I'd assume in stealth no less.

Also, I found him at the camp around 13:00 server time.

According to Wowwiki, his name is a reference to Undead Rogues (sorry guys), who would be well known for ganking.

Knowing similarities between Stranglethorn and Nagrand, this is possibly a reference to an affective Stranglethorn name known as Ganklethorn. Not mentioned on Wowwiki though.

There's a little bit of a reference to the "Hunter's Camp" in Stranglethorn Vale, where trying to hand in a quest here would usually lead to you being endlessly ganked by a member of the opposite faction (usually a rogue).

"It's not how many times you kill them, but how long you stop them from handing the quest in"

Watched the event today. If the gnome dies Gankly tries to turn in 10x leather he stole from the dead gnome to Harold Lane, who promises to give him a reward if he keeps standing there. Right after that sentence he is shot by Nessingwary and the other hunter in the camp.

This is an obvious reference on how high-geared rogues always attack low-geared players while trying to turn in a quest out of nowhere. And the gnome's original name is Kristen De Meza and if you put the three first letters of the name, it sounds like 'Cadiem', the Blizzard employee who was known for being extremely rude towards the Paladin community.

His spawn rating seems to be highly increased. While leveling during wrath I was lucky to catch him.
Currently leveling my paladin I can't even go to the camp without tripping over Gankly.

I was turning in some quests at Nesingwary's camp and was getting hit but a rogue. I thought it was an Alliance and did a double take when I saw it was an undead NPC. Never experienced it before :x.

I've been sitting at this camp for a few hours and seen no gnome and no rogue. Has this quest been removed?

The rogue NPC didnt spawn after I spent 50 minutes waiting in the camp.
I noticed that when I pulled a nearby elemental near the nig tree to the south-west, she gnome NPC started attacking it, so I let her pull aggro until the elemental killed her.
When she respawned about 10 minutes later, the rogue spawned nearly instantly afterwards.

So if you've waited a while, try to do that.
