The Moonhazed Nightsabers are found at 56.63, 29.73 coordinates up on a little ramp that has cages. They do go invisible and I saw a couple up there. They are near a set of waterfalls and the Rare Boss Alash'anir, is chilling up top of the hill. So a good point of reference to use if you know where this mob is at. They are lovely cat models, possibly the best looking cat hunting pet around.

For those that missed a few expansions, like myself, here's how to get to this pretty cat.

First you have to complete the Battle for Azeroth quest line far enough to get to the encounter table. Darkshore is one of two zones that the Horde and Alliance are fighting over. Each faction needs to gather materials that will eventually open up the ability to join an instance group to take Darkshore. You may need to assist in the material gathering effort. There will be repeatable quest givers near your encounter table.

Once the battle is available, join it and win. You have one week to do this once enough materials are gathered. There are invisible walls that stop you from getting to the spawn points for this cat while in the instance. I spent almost the entire instance trying to find my way there, believing that the cat would be available inside the instance. Nope!

Win the instance and then get yourself to plain old regular non-instanced Darkshore. You'll find the cat where it's indicated in other comments, mostly around the cages on that one hill.

If your faction does not control Darkshore, you will not be able to see this cat!

While this beast currently has a Silver-Grey Nightsaber and a Dark Purple-Grey Nightsaber model, it will receive two unique Dark Brown Nightsaber and Light Brown Nightsaber models in Patch 9.1.

The current Dark Purple-Grey Nightsaber beast model matches the Kaldorei Nightsaber mount.

The new Dark Brown Nightsaber beast model matches the Umber Nightsaber mount.

The new Light Brown Nightsaber beast model matches the Sandy Nightsaber mount.

For hunters: If you want an actual sandy colored one to match the Sandy Nightsaber mount, there is a stealthed one on the rock at /way 56.59, 29.04.

If you are trying to get the Dark Brown color variant and have lost faith in their existence - don't! I spent almost an hour killing these cats over and over until finally the Umbre skin spawned and during that time i saw five of the light brown (sable) variant. One is definitely rarer than the other.. Have faith - he is out there!

If you're a hunter looking to tame, there are four color variations of the Moonhazed Nightsaber. Coincidentally, four total will spawn in their area. Two will spawn near the wooden pens (one at each respectively), one will run up and down the path, the the fourth will chill on top of the rocks (stealthed, you can reveal them with flare). Due to the lighting, it's hard to distinguish some of them apart, I found the two light shades look similar and the two dark shades do to each other as-well... so here's your color table... look for the eyes! By looking at the eyes and if it's a dark or light Nightsaber, you should be able to easily distinguish all four colors apart!

Blue Eyes = Silver-Grey (most common imho)
Green Eyes = Dark Purple-Grey
Orange Eyes = Dark Brown & Light Brown (sorry, same eyes, but you should be able to tell the difference here)

The Dark and Light Brown are the two newer color shades and definitely the rarer versions. From my observations, the color spawns are random at their spawn point and four Nightsabers will spawn at a time in the area... they can be all one color or a mix of the four colors, random is random. If you don't see the color(s) you like, kill them and wait for respawns, hoping for the color(s) you want.

The tan/light brown variant with orange eyes is definitely the rarest. I waited two hours for this tame. Over that time, I killed about three umber/dark brown ones, about a dozen black ones, and a dozen or two silver ones. The spawn is about every five minutes and you get three.
