Found Ulfar up a random snow path in Drustvar on my way to quest "Take the high road" he is in a cave at a place called Ulfar's Den there is an altar there with a pulsing green bear paw as a 114 Warrior there is nothing I can do at this location apart from talk to Ulfar who says

"It has been a long time since a mainlander step foot in my grove.

do you wish to learn from the Thornspeakers or have you come to lay claim to this land as your kind are so fond of doing?"

The path up to Ulfar begins southwest of Fallhaven, Drustvar.

I was a bit disappointed to find that Ulfar was a bear, since "ulf" or "ulfr" means "wolf" in Old Norse. I was hyped for some wolf druids, finally. But that being said, the Kul Tiran druid models are incredible so far!

I met Arthur Tradewind on the path East of Fallhaven as part of a quest I had done earlier. Arthur gave me a ride up to the cave. In case y'all don't want to run all the way up. lol

If you didn't end up grabbing that quest, the start of the path is at (43.28, 39.50), you can actually see a tiny trail going up. It kind of disappears around the corner, just follow the curve of the mountain and you should see the trail path again and it leads all the way up the cave (46.06, 45.35)

Druids can ask him, "Are you a druid as well?". He responds with the following: "We are and not so different from you, . We are guardians on balance, keepers of the cycle. Life is a part of nature, as is death. But as a druid you already know this. Be welcome in my grove." After that is the dialogue option, "I want to ask something else." which brings you to the first text you see when interacting with him. To me, this is a neat addition I thought I'd share with those of you guys who aren't druids.

As a hunter, when you ask about animals in the woods that look like plants, he says "I suppose you're seeking a new pet (scoffs)?" I wish I could tell him I most certainly am nooooot, I was just curious!

Ulfar responds with, "I suppose you're seeking a new pet? <Ulfar scoffs> The magic of this place deep and profound. It has come to inhabit some of the animals of the region. They are powerful manifestations of nature to be respected."

So I'm guessing that's the reason why we can't tame wickerbeasts/drust.

As of patch 10.2.0, you can now tame thorn beasts!

First step is to get a thorn-laden heart. There are three versions of the heart, one for bears, one for stags, and one for cats. Each drops from their respective species, i.e killing stags has a chance to drop a stag heart, killing bears has a chance to drop a bear heart, etc. You can have all three at once.

Once you have your desired heart(s), you go to 阿泰妮. She's hard to find, but generally she seems to spawn next to the well in Ulfar's den during the day and spawns next to 阿萨尔 at night. Either way, I would set up a /target Athainne macro to help find her. Turn in your thorny organs and you'll recieve 月触荆棘 for your respective heart.

Then speak to Ulfar, choose the option "I have seen some animals that look like they are part plant. Can you tell me about them?"

"I suppose you're seeking a new pet? <Ulfar scoffs> The magic of this place deep and profound. It has come to inhabit some of the animals of the region. They are powerful manifestations of nature to be respected."

You'll then have the options: "I want to ask something else." and "Athainne has blessed some thorns I found in a beast's heart." Choosing the second option leads to Ulfar giving you a 棘语者仪式匕首 along with the text:

"In the age of Drust, there was a ritual in which our mightiest warriors would be sent to the forest of dreams by our speakers. There they would challenge a willing spirit of the wild to a hunt. These spirits yearned for mortal soil and sky, weighted down by thorns in their heart.

Should they succeed, they were able to bring the spirit into the waking world as a loyal companion through the corpse of a beast. Should they fail, they would not awaken from their sleep.

Such connection has been lost to this land, but perhaps there is another way to do so."

Pretty cool explaination! I suppose this is because we prove ourselves to the spirits in the Emerald dream causing them to want to travel with us or their yearning for life persisted even after death.

To resurrect your plant buddy, use the respective knives on the corpses of 阿基尔 the stag, Astera the bear, and 莉莉乌娜 the cat. Whatever color they spawned in originally will determine the color of thornbeast you get. So if you kill Argyr as a dark brown dreamstag, he'll turn into a black thornbuck. There are more details in the comments of each beast's page about which colors are which. Happy hunting! :)
