He is quite easy. Have two tanks to tank the core rager and two tanks to tank Golemagg and make sure they switch in order not to get too many debuffs. Rest raid heals/dps ... He drops two tier 1 chestpieces and 1 or two epic items.

(taken from wowwiki.com)
This is the most boring and uneventful fight in the whole of Molten Core. The main tank needs high fire resistance (to reduce the effect of the magma splashes), and healers need to pay some attention to their mana pools, since it's a rather long fight.
Two offtanks should fight the core ragers far away from Golemagg. The dogs can't die so there is no reason to DPS them, just keep them occupied. When they are out of range of Golemagg's buff, their horns will stop glowing red. When golemagg gets to 10% life the melee should leave and he should be killed by ranged. It is often a good idea to have two tanks on Golemagg. If the main tank gets too many DOTs on him it will be simply impossible to keep him up. The second tank can either be ready to take over when the main tank dies, or when the DOTs start getting too high on the main tank the second tank can take over and let the main tank recover.

lol. the way my guild does this boss, pull the 2 core ragers and have 2-3 healers on each tank. the mt then tanks golemagg at the position he started in. like the above people said, this fight is extremely easy and boring. but, you know, the loot is crazy right?
azuresong mageblade ftw!
the +30 spell dmg enchant can also drop, making him a really fun boss to farm.

This fight is one of the easiest fights in any of the end game raids.. its simple with two hunters pulling the hounds to designated tanks after the main tank goes after golemagg and he usually drops 2 chest pieces and another random item.

Just so you know if you fall off the bridge at 70 you wont aggro whole room ......but pretty close.
hunters die DO NOT feign death on him because if you pop under him while your raid is on bridge he will rruuuunn around aggro everything in the process and getto you with some help from a shit-load of peoples.

This is probably one of the least imaginative fights in the game. His adds are even some of the simplest to deal with (move them away from him and keep a tank on each).

by far one of the easiest bosses to pull too soon.
did an MC raid at 70 on a warrior, fury so no tanking really but it didn't really matter much.
anyways when passing over the G-Man here and i noticed that he was in range of my trinket's effect =D
so i shot golemagg and watched him run around the slope up to us with core hounds in tow.
i should have gotten the jenkins title for that.

If attempting to do Golemagg with a few people, here are some tips:
- The Core Ragers cannot die and despawn when the boss dies. Don't waste time attacking them.
- Melee can start to take a decent amount of damage from the Magma Splash stacks. Depending on your healing situation, you may need to step out of the fight for a while and let it tick off before going back in.
- At 80k hp (10%) the boss will start hurting the tank and melee for alot more. Save cooldowns/trinkets for this part perhaps.

Easily soloed as a well geared 80 prot paladin. Seal light and judge light on Golemagg, keep sacred shield up, bubble when the splash gets to 50ish stacks and holy light to full. Rinse and repeat.

I tried to do this several times as a decently geared feral druid, but was unable. The boss and adds just hit too damn hard. I end up dying after using frenzied rejuv when the boss is ~ 90%.
My stats:
~36k hp
34% dodge
36k armor
I raid as balance, so my feral set is stuff I've picked up over the months of raiding.

Well, I wanted to come here and say that it is possible to solo Golemagg as a Holy Paladin.
But... be ready for one hell of a fight.
My strategy was pretty much made up on the fly. I dropped down into the south west corner off the bridge like most people do, which aggrod him and his pups. My attack sequence consisted of: Judgement of Wisdom -> Holy Light -> Holy Shock him -> Holy Light, repeat. I used conc aura and Seal of Wisdom. If I ever got low on mana I would stop holy shocking, and judging as little as possible to get mana back from judgment and seal of wisdom. At 13%, I stopped using holy shock and started saving my mana in preparation for the mini enrage he does at 10%. I strongly suggest this, cause from the time he was at 10% to the time he died I went from almost full mana to about 9%. I didn't use Sacred Shield too much during the first 90%, as I felt safer using that time on a holy light (I was pretty much never at full health), and mana wasn't exactly abundant. I made sure to keep it up the last 10% though.
The fight in total took just over 40 minutes. Him and his pups do a ridiculous amount of damage (I calculated that they combine to sustain almost 1800 dps against my 21.2k armor).
Just so fun statistics from the fight from my recount:
My damage output: 901,181
My sustained dps: 376.6
My damage taken: 4,235,071
My healing done: 4,228,225
My overheal: 1,739,149
My mana gained: 725,838
seal of wisdom: 277,320
divine plea: 190,802
illumination: 164,888
judgment of wisdom: 39,806
arcane torrent: 26,612
meta gem: 26,600
It was a ton of fun, I suggest people try to solo stuff like this.
That being said... I'm glad I did it, I'm glad I can say I can do it... but I won't be doing it again... it was pretty damn stressful. I got down below 20% several times in the last 10% of his health. I would have cried if I died after spending nearly 40 minutes on him....

Easily soloed as a decent (half blues) geared prot paladin.
I used SoL/JoL as the constant blocks from the 2 adds always had me on full mana. Fight lasted 15 minutes. I had to use my bubble once, when I was around 5k health to fully heal myself and continued.
Easy-boring-surpriseless encounter for a prot paladin, try it! Just keep hitting the boss until he's down. Not even his enrage at 10% made a difference.

I found him to be the 2nd hardest of the 8 bosses before domo to solo as a DK. after quite a few trys, switching around FR and regular tank gear finding that sweet spot, I finally downed him. that last 10% is rough.

Man, you were right, a hell of a fight indeed.
I solo'd this as a resto druid. I'm 4/5 t8, ulduar 10-man hard modes geared.
Unlike the holy paladin I'm quoting, I wiped sometimes, and had to plan a strategy to take him down.
My heals (2 or 3 stack Lifebloom, rejuv and regrowth, all backed up with nourish) were barely sufficient to keep me up. I figured that my mana (nor my health) could spare some seconds to dps the guy. That said, I turned to my only option: thorns.
Before I go on:
Thorns is OP!
I'm full resto, 2000 spell dmg, but for this fight I did some modifications:
First, I respecced to include
Brambles
. That nearly doubled my damage with thorns.
I used, before attacking him,
Flask of the Frost Wyrm
and
Potion of Wild Magic
, while wearing trinkets that enhanced spell power (old trinkets I kept -
Soul Preserver
and
Battlemaster's Bravery
.
This increase my spellpower to something like 2500.
Since thorns now uses the spellpower you used to cast the spell, rather than your current one, I cast thorns on me, switch to my usual trinkets and kick him in the balls.
While fighting, I tried to keep rejuv, regrowth and lifebloom up, and getting, plenty of times, every proc of Omen of Clarity to cast another stack of LB or a moonfire on Golemagg. Besides, I tried to melee as a tree everytime, and stop for a while when I got 5 stacks of the debuff.
When I felt relatively safe (full hotted and full health), I would cast barkskin + moonfire + wrath.
And that's about it. The trick is keeping yourself up, since all the hots wont be enough sometimes. You gotta heal with nourish too. I would almost always cast: Rejuv > Regrowth > 1-LB > Nourish > 2-LB > Nourish > 3-LB.
Hope more people want to try this, it's a good challenge =)
Oh yeah, the fight lasted 59 minutes.
(Sorry about grammar, english isnt my first language)

Magma Splash is triggered by hitting Golemagg. If you are having trouble with this dot stacking too high, simply stop attacking him until it wears off.

Pallies, bring a second shield if you're doing the whole thing in one run. Sulfuron was the only one I did as Prot before Golemagg (even Garr I did as Ret). I pulled him and THEN realized my shield wouldn't be at 100%, no it was 45/100 before the fight. I got him to 3.1% before my shield broke and I died.
Yay 30 minutes wasted.

Yes yes, we all know he's an easy kill for prot pallies, and he's also doable for resto druids. But what about feral druids? Fear not my fellow men/bears/cows/elves/trees, I have done it, and I am willing to share my knowledge!
FERAL DRUIDS LOOKING TO SOLO GOLEMAGG THE FERAL INCINERATOR:
A word of caution, this was the toughest fight in all of MC for me. Domo? One shot. Shazzrah? Cake. Ragnaros the friggin' Firelord? A little annoying, but easy. But this guy? Oh you're in for it. Yet this is the only one who will drop a Sulfuron Ingot, which is probably half the reason you're here. You are trying to get the hammer of rag for your druid, right? Get to hit people with a legendary mace while moonfiring them, right? ... well even if you're not, put on your healing pants, here we go!
Pre-fight:
Get all your spellpower gear on, cast thorns. You want thorns to do as much damage as they possibly can. The gear you'll be using is a mix of feral and healing. I suggest going as far as 50% or more resto for this one (EDIT: If you have NI, or you get enough healing from just your spellpower weapon, you're better off with feral gear's avoidance). Fire damage is heavy in this fight, but not enough to warrant replacing all your pieces with FR gear. Perhaps a level 70 badge chest, the inferno hardened stuff. Flask: Lesser flask of resistance. If you prefer potions though, I recommend armor or earthen elixir.
You're going to be doing a lot of healing. Do not neglect spellpower. I'm serious. As for trinkets, if you have any healing trinkets with some great proc on a 45 second cooldown (Forethought Talisman, 2 set ony trinkets, egg, etc) it's going to be seeing some use about once every minute, so yeah, it's going to help. A lot. The proc will end up helping more than the spellpower on the trinket.
THE FIGHT:
Rush in, hit Golemagg's leg like you're going to be doing for the next 10 minutes, get comfortable with the two raging doggies bitting at your intimidated bear face. Mangle, maul, stack five lacerates, and... stop. See that "magma splash"? When that gets really high, you're going to be taking a lot of damage. Not only that, but your armor is going to drop. When it gets under a certain point, you can't go into caster anymore without fear of dying. Sure, your bear might have twice the armor of a vanilla tank even with 20 stacks, but your caster form is going to be at 0. In fact, if your caster form is anything under its norm, you're going to be taking a whole lot from those enraged puppies! This is why, unlike those darn pallies, you have to stop dpsing Golemagg and let the debuff wear off before you start really needing to heal. If you have to heal with the debuff on you, it's going to cost you.
To maintain Savage Defence, mangle and lacerate those puppies. Don't maul, you'll hit Golemagg if you're glyphed. Mangle every CD, as you can still keep Infected Wounds on them. And do remember, Demo Roar needs to be up the whole fight, even when you're in caster form healing.
Especially
when you're in caster form healing.
Once the debuff wears off, swap to your healing staff, barkskin, regrowth, and nourish. I've tried using rejuv somewhere in there, but nourish seems to be the only thing that brings my health up at all. HoTs just don't provide the instant healing you need. Slap a rejuv when you're at full health, but really, the hots don't provide enough healing. Once you're back at full (or barkskin wears off), drop into bear once more. Berserk, enrage, whatever, murder Golemagg with all you've got. Once you have 30 seconds left on barkskin cooldown, you should have 3-7 stacks of magma splash on you (EDIT: I wrote this back when Ulduar had recently come out and did not have 232+ items. A better geared bear can take up to about 15). Once again... stop damaging, lacerate/mangle the puppies, keep up demo roar, and get your healing staff ready. If you feel like you're not going to be needing heals for the next 30 seconds, go ahead for 10+ stacks, but don't get greedy.
Ah yes, the 10% enrage. It once triggered on me when he had 90k health, so please, don't try and cut it so close. This is when you save your SI/FR and berserk. You can afford to use them during the fight if you need to, but make sure you have them back up for the enrage. This is the easiest part of the fight - berserk, enrage, go to town. Keep up demo, SI/FR when you're low. Once he's dead, you have the right to keep yourself alive from that still ticking magma splash.
Or instead of healing yourself, you could look in the window behind him - you can see Rag from there.
(Btw, some of my melee hits are not causing magma splash, does anyone know if this is pure luck, or due to fire resist?)

He is soloable as a ret paladin, but I would not advise it. You will want at least Ulduar/ToC gear to even stand a chance against him, and using every AoW to heal yourself constantly. Keep sacred shield up at all times, and switch to attacking the hounds every time you get to around 15-20 stacks of the debuff. Save every cd for 10%, and kill him asap.

Soloed it as a lvl 80 affliction warlock.
Wasn't too hard. I tanked him with my voidwalker, switched between the boss and the two adds every now and then because of the debuff.
I kept my dots ticking on all three of them, as much as I could, because I basically had to chain heal my pet all the time.

Soloed as an 80 DK Blood DPS specced in tanking gear, wasn't that hard/stressful once you get the right gear combination. It's important to note that the overwhelming portion of his damage is physical, so you don't need much fire res gear, if at all for this fight. I wouldn't have more than 100 resistance. In ToC25/10 tanking gear he wasn't that hard.
The only thing to be mindful of is that your Heartstrike cleaves can refresh the debuff, so even if you're attacking his adds you can still get more stacks. To counter that, use Blood Strike when getting debuff off with adds, then switch back to HS when you get back on boss.
Oh, and don't pop army unless all nearby adds are cleared. Stupid army ran off once and aggroed adds while they were on Core Ragers. Ugh, why do they run around so much ><

Just soloed Golemagg with my Hunter WITHOUT 2sT5.
I used a bug, I made his 2 dogs evading while fighting him. Even with this exploit, the fight is very hard, for 3 reasons :
There is only one place to be to make minions evading and this place is tricky (
the place
).
You have to take care of melting debuff (your pet need to stop attacking to take off the debuff)
You have to heal you during the fight (during my 1% try I died from pyro) and sometimes you can take like 5 pyro without any possibility to bandage.
This is the hardest fight of MC for an hunter. I will try Ragnaros (Majordomo is very easy to defeat) tomorrow :)

All of MC is soloable as a Ret Paladin. Though Golemagg is the most difficult fight. I died about half a dozen times till I figured it out, now I kill him weekly without a problem.
Here is the setup I use. I have my hotkeys set up so that if I cast a helpful spell with an enemy selected, it autocasts on me.
I use Judgement of Light and Seal of Light. You have to keep Sacred Shield up the entire fight. It helps increase your crit chance with Flash of Light high enough to crit on often. Run fire Aura.
I use Blessing of Might in conjunction with the Sheath of Light Talent to give me as much spell power as I can for FoL.
JoL, Seal of Light, healing from Divine Storm and instant Flash of Lights will keep you alive. Crits with Flash of Light are important too since you get the additional 60% healing from Crits with the Sheath of Light talent and this healing is cumulative so the more often your FoL's crit them more healing you get from Sheath of Light.
Start the fight with Sacred Shield up and run through all your abilities. Every time you crit cast your instant flash of light on yourself, don't use your instant cast Exorcism, just keep using flash of light. When you get to about 5 or so stacks of Magma Splash, swap to one of his dogs and stop using Divine Storm, to prevent added stacks of the debuff until the debuff drops then swap back to Golemagg. When you swap to the dogs and stop Divine Storm you lose a lot of healing because you don't get the Seal of Light proc on all three targets along with DS's own healing, so using your melee crits for instant Flash of Lights is essential to stay alive until you can swap back to Golemagg.
Use Divine Plea every chance you get, it helps keep your mana up though you will usually be running below half mana most of the fight. It will stress your healing a bit, but it keeps mana coming in. I use Avenging Wrath along with Divine Plea on every other Divine Plea to help offset the healing reduction of Divine Plea. (I only have 5700 mana)
Also, I found that I have to clear his entire hallway first and kite him around the hallway. Every time I stand toe to toe with him he wipes me, but kiting him works for some reason, I don't know why. Yeah, the dogs snare you and it sucks ass, so you move super slow and turning while walking backwards is a pain, but it works.
You always have your bubble or LoH if you run into problems.
I did it the first couple of times with food buffs, potions, and heart of the wild drums buffs to help give me an extra edge until I figured out, now I don't use any of that, just the normal paladin buffs.
I was able to do this in mainly Triumph badge gear and Heroic ICC 5 gear and maybe one or two ICC 10 (not heroic) items, though my gear has gotten better since then and thus a bit easier, but it can still be a rough fight.

In today's gear this fight is pretty easy for feral druids. Just use your barkskin/trinkets whenever cooled down, pop your FR when you get to about 50% health and just nuke Golemagg till he dies. I didn't have to lacerate adds for extra savage def or anything.

Soloed as 80 prot/bloodthirst warrior. Very easy way to do it:
The easiest way to do this is by speccing for Bloodthirst tank specc.
When having that specc you go start on Golemagg untill u get 7-10 stacks of his dot. At this point u switch to a dog to maintain the bloodthirst healing and cleaving, revenging and tclapping Gole at the same time but without getting further debuff stacks.
Took me about 10 mins to get him down this way, and never went below 80 % and never had to use any of the other cds such as SW, LS, ER.

I can confirm that this boss is indeed soloable by a prot warrior with a bloodthirst/tank spec. To make it easier u can get the bloodthirst glyph for extra healing. When u get the 10 stacks of the fire debuff switch on adds while having rend on boss and thunder clapping all the time. Soloed in ToC 10/25 gear. Never went bellow 50 %. Save the cd's for the last 10 % to burn him down and survive at the same time

I just finished soloing this guy on my Prot/Fury BT spec'd warrior. It was a long fight, but definitely do-able. As others have said, just keep the stacks of Magma Splash to a minimum by periodically switching to DPS'ing the Core Ragers. I timed it so that I resumed DPS'ing Gole at about the same time Last Stand and ER came off cooldown, and then switched back to a Rager at about 9 stacks of Splash. I used Drums of the Wild and Forgotten Kings, plus a Greater Ward of Shielding and Stoneblood flask. I noticed that the only time I received the Magma Splash debuff was while I was actually targeting Gole-- any damage from Cleave, Improved Revenge or TC didn't affect it at all.
Timing is very important, especially when Gole hits 10%-- I made sure that I had Shieldwall, ER, and Last Stand all available to pop as soon as he hit that mark.
On the downside, no sulfuron ingot. What a jerk!

Easy soloable as affliction warlock nowadays without any hybrid spec with talents in demotree etc.
Just use the standard 56/0/15 buid with 2pc t5 bonus and he shouldnt be a problem at all. Draintank both Ragers by yourself and let your vooidwalker take the boss. You would probably have to watch aggo on boss and soulshatter twice, just play it save and its np.

fire aura, kings, seal of light, judgement of light
remove exorcism on your bar and replace it with flash of light; once the debuff reaches 25 you have to use it on every art of war proc.
very challenging, need clever use of cooldowns (had to use LoH, bubble, and divine protection)

-Fire Resistance Aura
-Seal of Light
-Judgement of Wisdom
-Spam Divine Storm whenever it's active (I'm pretty there's gonna be trouble when 4.0.1 hits, as I'll lose my T10 2pc proc)
-Sacred Shield (always, always have this up)
Cooldown rotation:
-Avenging Wrath right off the bat and whenever it's available (make no mistake, this is a DPS race)
-Bubble at 25 stacks or so of the fire dot/ debuff to remove it (try to wait as long as possible)
-Lay On Hands near the end if things are going bad (it is pointless to use LOH anywhere in the middle of the fight, as the stacks of debuff will continue to grow and grow and you'll be in trouble soon)

Just like to add. Easily solo-able as a Protection Pally (4.0.1).
Here's what I did. (Mostly badge gear) 47k HP 27k Armor unbuffed. (54k HP buffed)
- Used Scroll of Fortitude, Drums of Kings, Blessing of Might, Resistance Aura, 40 stamina food buff, Flask of Stoneblood (Didn't even need it, was over cautious) and Seal of Insight.
Fight lasted roughly 6 minutes.
NEVER had to use ANY COOLDOWN.
Just keep using your single target rotation on Golemagg. (Avenger's Shield, Crusader Strike, Consecrate and Holy Wrath).
Use Word of Glory every 3 holy power.
When you get to 50 stacks of Magma Splash, just switch to one of the Core Ragers and use ONLY Crusader Strike and word of glory.
When the stacks drop switch back to Golemagg and repeat. When Golemagg drops below 20%, add Hammer of Wrath into the rotation.
During the entire fight, with Word of Glory being used every 3 holy power, my health never dropped below 90%. The lowest I dropped was 70%, which was during the duration of having 50 stacks of Magma Splash.
Could've probably done it without any of the extra buffs, was just overly cautious.
Anyways hope this information helps.

so if you are low on mana, just sit alittle under 50% keeping lifebloom stacked (without letting it proc at the end) and wait out the innervate CD...at some points during the fight, i did that for 2 full CD's to make sure i had enough mana just in case.
with that said, i also found that moonfire took about 1% of his hp.....
soooo...if you're willing to wait out a looong fight (mine took just about an hour) it is doable even if youre in really really bad gear. even though a long fight, i ended with full hp and 60% mana, so not sure how overcareful i was being.
(i had tried feral and failed so i went to AH and dropped 3500G on a crappy healer set)

For any ferals out there, this was tank n' spank even in low gear, my ilevel is around 328. Didn't even have to worry about debuff. It got up to 30 when he died and HP was never a problem. Took all of 5 minutes. Get those ingots :)

Golemagg can be spawned by leaving a Golem and a Magmar in the daycare center.

Because his loot table hasn't updated yet, 5.1 brings new changes to Golemagg, reducing both his health and giving him a chance to drop an

Something very unusual happened when I soloed Golemagg today (8-Feb-2013).
I hit a couple of my AOE abilities, then used Dragon Roar (a high-damage AOE available to warriors as a talent). When I did, both Core Ragers died and
STAYED DEAD
while Golemagg was still alive.
It
is possible
to kill the Core Ragers before killing Golemagg, but apparently, you have to do it by reducing them from over half their health to 0 in a single hit.

Just started soloing MC for Hydraxian reputation.
Golemagg gives 150 rep compared to the rest of the bosses that give 100 rep. Rag gives the most at 200 rep.
Planting a guild banner is very useful before boss fights and boosts rep gains by 15%. This stacks on top of the bonus rep you receive from guild bonuses.
With Golemagg, I get 190 rep with max guild reputation and by planting a guild banner :)
