2019 has started with changes at the higher-up positions at Activision Blizzard, with both the main company and Blizzard Entertainment having their CFOs (Chief Financial Officers) in the news this week.
The first announcement was made Monday, when
Activision Blizzard announced
that it had intentions to fire its current CFO, Spencer Neumann, without revealing the reasoning behind the decision.
Wednesday, Activision Blizzard announced that Dennis Durkin, which was CFO for the company from 2012 to 2017, would return to the position. Followed by that announcement,
Netflix announced that it had hired Spencer Neumann
.
Today, another news story about CFOs surfaced, as Blizzard Entertainment's CFO, Amrita Ahuja, was
announced to become CFO from Square Inc.
, leaving the company.
Changes were expected for Activision Blizzard, as 2018 had the value of its stock drop from $63.32 in January to $46.57 at the end of December, a 26.5% drop, after reaching a promising peak of $83.39 in early October.
The final 2018 quarter saw a giant hit at the company's stock value, as a result of a low-key BlizzCon and
reports of a reduction on its Monthly Average Users count in the quarter
, from 352 million in the second quarter to 345 million in the third quarter of 2018.
