For a warlock or spriest I would say Shadoweave Pants are superior. 6 Stamina and 21 Shadow spell damage

If you are not a Twink you can use these http://www.wowhead.com/?item=14107 and a high class spell thread.

They are a great pair to level with after 50. The obvious implication being they are BOE and you can have the high level spell thread added to them but you cannot add spell thread to BOP items.

Stats of pants with Golden or Runic Spell thread are:

62 Armor
+12 Intellect
+20 Stamina
+56 Spell power

As of Patch 3.0.3

That is the best if you are just trying to level your Mage fast.

And just because I know someone will bring these up http://www.wowhead.com/?item=14045 The benefit to this pair is ONE ARMOR and it doesn't require any Felcloth to craft... but the drawback is you have to wait a whole level. So wait if you have to or get the Felcloth pants at 50, You decide.

There is nothing better than this before Outlands that anyone is actually going to go get. Not even http://www.wowhead.com/?item=13170 can compete.
