Had two drop for me while grinding Argent Dawn Rep in WPL. Its nice for a BS to know how to make them, and the mats are cheap/simple so you don't have to keep those crappy boots in your bags to equip/unequip everytime you mount/dismount. You can just make a new set for every pair of boots you upgrade to! Its also a simple way to make a few gold every once in a while, even if all you do is apply them.

For some reason they are going for cheaper than the mats would alone at the AH on my server. Mithril is about 15G a stack, but Mithril Spurs are around 50S :(

I've been trying taking out some of the bosses that drop this plan and I simply can not get a hold of it. The plans are no where to be found on the auction house.

Does anyone have any suggestions on finding this?

I keep having the same problems as the rest... newer server, not very many high levels. This pattern does not exist on the AH. I can't even seem to find the spurs either. I'd be willing to sit and grind on things until the pattern dropped, but it seems as though I may not get this pattern until at least 62, when I can solo some of the elites I know patrol in groups.

Ever since The Burning Crusade was released it appears the plans can go for as much as 300g sometimes.

Just got it in Uldaman. Put it up on AH for 30g for the hell of it. Sold within 5-6 minutes. Sounds like I could've easily milked 150g+ from this, but missed out.

The reason this item has risen in price since TBC launched is that it's one of the best, if not THE best, for leveling blacksmithing in the 235+ bracket. Hence, anybody taking up blacksmithing can save a lot of cash on mats simply by buying this a bit expensive.

I got one just now from AH for ONLY 10g. I'm only lvl 27 with 133 BS, but this was a great price. :)

These plans usually cost you between 30-300 gold.But if you are patient you will find em for less.I wanted to buy the plans for my warrior and when I first saw them they were 250 gold.After 3 days of checking the AH every 5-6 hours I bought em for ..... 3 gold.So the key is to be patient and wait for some low lvl guy to give em for free :)

I was lucky enough to pick this up for the low, low price of 2g today. This plan will save you a lot of money while leveling your blacksmithing! Compare with Mithril Coif, which is one of the cheapest items to make taught by the trainers around the same skill level:

Mithril Spurs (235-275): 4 Mithril Bars, 3 Solid Grinding Stones
Mithril Coif (230-270): 10 Mithril Bars, 6 Mageweave Cloth

Making the Mithril Spurs will save you at least 10 stacks of mithril bar over the next best alternative.

(only applies to skill lvls 235-250 if you use Mithril Coifs to level alternatively)

a + 60b + 180c = 150b + 90d (if these are equal, then there is no difference in price)
a = 90b + 90d - 180c

a = price of this pattern
b = price of mithril ore/bars
c = price of solid stones
d = price of mageweave

so, if the pattern costs less then 90x the price of mithril + 90x the price of mageweave - 180x the price of solid stones, its cheaper to buy the pattern and level your skill with mirthils spurs
EDIT:
on my server,
b = 1,5 ------\
c = 0,4 -------> a = 156,6g so the paten is overpriced if it costs more then 156g

I think people are over valuing this plan

You need to have 235 Blacksmithing to use it and you can make Dense Sharpening Stone with 1 Dense Stone at 250 in Blacksmithing. In my opinion it only has a use for 15 skill points. You effectively need 90 more Mithril Bars and 90 mageweave cloth if you don't own this plan. Neither Mithril nor Thorium are particularly difficult to farm now that the majority seem to be in Northrend. Try Silithus for example no one seems to go there.

Bottom line, don't stress if you don't have it.

These Plans are a great investment (for a reasonable price) if you have several lower level alts.

Sometimes they're hard to locate: my tip is to check the auction once a day, normally you can find a sane price when one does come up. I received mine for only fifty gold! Eventually, an affordable one should be posted, that doesn't defeat the purpose of getting it depending on your server's Mithril price.

just bought it for 99g.
it was a perfet price since it cost me way less to level my BS from 235 untill 260. It could of been way worse if i leveled BS with Mithril Coif untill 250 (150 Mithril Bar + 90 Mageweave Cloth).

Just bought this plans for 4 gold . on the jeadenar EU realm
i was looking on the horde auction house and i saw one standing for 500g and when i looked on the allience auction house there was one for 4 gold
so my tip is , make a horde / allience char and check the auction house once a day

The spurs themselves are rarely on the auctionhouse, I made about 20 of them and let them sit on the AH for 20 gold a pop, eventually selling out and more than making the money I spent on the recipe back, so rather than vendoring them use some patience and make yourself some cash.

I recommend you often check the AH for this, people tend to mistake this pattern for an average one, I just bought 3 for less than 30g each. The average price for this pattern in my server is +300g (I paid ~400g last year).

Bottom line: check the AH, if you see it cheap, buy it, you can resale it at a high price after December 7 when people are trying to level BS fast, also applicable for other items and recipes ( today's market prices are way lower than what they will be in 2 weeks).

What a lot of people (and online blacksmithing guides) seem to not realise is that since cata old world ores like mithril are a lot more common.

So either just buy the mithril in the AH or pop onto your mining toon and hit up Burning Steps. You will have stacks and stacks after flying around for a short while.

So don't waste too much gold buying this pattern. If you can get it cheap, sure, but otherwise just blast through with standard BS patterns.
