Don't be fooled by the buyout price listed here on Wowhead. Boar meat is one of the best ways for a low-level character starting out in Durotar, Dun Morogh or Elwynn Forest to make money. I don't know why people are willing to spend this much, but for some reason it can sell for 5 gold per stack on the auction house on any server I've tried.

Kill every boar you see as you're questing, and you'll be decked out in full 16-slot bags by the time you're level 20. All thanks to auctioned boar meat.

I can understand the prices. Especially on the horde side.
See some starting areas are filled with wild life and recipes to cook something with. But for a Blood Elf and Tauren there isn't really that much to 'gather fast' and level up the cooking skill.

I find this kind of meat the perfect way and less time consuming to level up cooking.

Since noone answered yet, the reason for the higher than usual prices on this item are because it's one of the mats for the early Cooking recipes, along with Stringy Wolf Meat and yet another use for Small Egg.

Not only there are players boosting their Cooking for alts all the time, and even moreso now with Achievements, but it's also common for players to reach Journeyman Cooking (which you can train at 50, so you'll have to bridge the distance from 40 after Spice Bread) with the sole purpose of doing the quest for Dig Rat Stew. From this you obtain the only Cooking recipe from a Horde quest, and especially Alliance players will often pay well for it.

Best place ever for ALLIANCE is at The Stonefield Farm in Elwynn Forest, the boars spawn before you have time to kill them all.

Don't waste your time farming this to skill up your cooking. Just buy a couple of stacks of flour and mild spices from the cooking vendors and make some spice bread.

Though save the boar ribs that drop with the meat they'll definitely help you skill up your cooking.

I just posted a full stack for 189g, the apparent going rate. It did indeed move at that silly price--leaving me even more bewildered when it comes to brains of other people.

Best place to farm this at Stendel's Pond, SW of Sentential Hill in Westfall. The boars here have a respawn of around a minute, if that. Circle the pond and the boars will keep respawning.

stats on this drop is WAY off, swine in durotar is low drop rate. Killled 30 boars as a 120 and not 1 chunk of boar meat dropped.

good place to farm these is Just soutside of orgrimmar both sides 老杂斑野猪 they drop them with good % and there are plenty!
