Can be farmed from the stone elementals in northen silithus. But as someone mentioned regarding the essence of air (which can be farmed from air elementals at the same place) everyone is there farming theese things. So visit off-peak hours or be prepared to fight for your right (to party!).

I don't know how readable this will be but here's a little diagram of the transmute circle that is possible with elemental essences. The main circle is Earth to Water to Air to Fire and back to Earth. The two branches are Life to Earth to Life and Water to Undeath to Water.

Got 20 of them from north east side of silithus in about 1 hour with a 70 hunter

Farmed the Crystal Vale in Silithus for an hour this morning (5:30am - 6:30am server time). Killed 167 desert rumblers in that time and got the following:

Lifeless Stone x97
Core of Elements x60
Solid Stone x44
Deeprock Salt x25
Essence of Earth x29
Elemental Earth x7
Core of Earth x8
Aquamarine x1
and 2 green equipment drops (early level 50s)

Also got 167 rep with the Hydraxian Waterlords. All-in-all not a bad run. The rumblers respawned very fast (usually before I made it all the way around).

These can be used to level Jewelcrafting between 280 and 290 by creating http://www.wowhead.com/?item=21775.

I farmed the northern Silithus elementals for about 20 minutes and got my 10 Essence of Earth.

Simply do laps around the area, they drop in 1 Frostfire bolt. Hardest part is running to the mob to loot.

Can be very easely obtained running circles around the mountain in Silithus, if you're lucky a rare spawn might just make his appearance there, watch out as he's not easy to solo if you're lv 60...

My first round around the mountain i had: (i didn't kill the air elementals further away from the mountain)
6 essence of earth
5 essence of air
3 elemental air
2 breath of wind
trash: random bs plans, star ruby

My second round:
5 essence of earth
1 core of earth
1 elemental earth
4 essence of air
2 elemental air
2 breath of wind

My third and final round:
4 essence of earth
2 core of earth
8 essence of air
1 elemental air
2 breath of wind
trash: aquamarine, green bracers, green mace

This took roughly 30-40 minutes as a lv 80 warlock

One more extra round (only earth elementals)
2 essence of earth
2 core of earth
2 elemental earth

I farmed the 4 needed for Enchant Weapon - Strength from Desert Rumblers in northwestern Silithus, and got them all within 6 kills. Amazing drop rate, and there's plenty of mobs. Definitely the way to go if you can't find any on the AH or don't want to spend the gold.

Okay so as of 4.0.3a the drop rates officially suck. I killed 175 of the Desert Rumblers in Silithus and only got 2.

Did a round today, killed all the rumblers I could see (about 20) and 1x core of earth, 3x essence of earth plus a random green dropped. Took about 10 mins so they may have improved the drop rate now.

I guess I had a run of bad luck, because I ended up with only one of these after farming the SilithusDesert Rumblers for 45 minutes. Got 10 Elemental Earth, 2 Core of Earth as well, thus the run was not a total loss.

I did end up with enough Inert Elemental Shards/Pieces to more than cover the cost of buying the extra EoE I needed from the AH, so...it panned out.

I got all 4 of the Essence of Earth I needed from Molten Core. I spent only about 30 minutes in there. Garr dropped 2, and then trash dropped the other 2.
