Distribution: Servants of the Betrayer booster boxes contain 24 boosters and cost approx $65 USD (inc. shipping), therefore the average cost of obtaining this particular loot is $923.00

How much would I expect to pay for one off eBay or similar?
According to http://www.wowtcgloot.com/x51_netherrocket_xtreme.htm (most information sourced from there), the expansion was released on the 15th of April 2008 and the set loots are X-51 Nether-Rocket EXTREME, Goblin Weather Machine, and Papa Hummel's Pet Biscuit. Average price for the Nether Rocket loot is around $360USD and slowly rising.

Facts:

The shape is Slim Pickens-style.
You receive one rare and one epic item version when you redeem the code (free).
The level 60 mount (rare) and the level 70 mount (epic) can be traded in-game.
Both the rare and epic version can be learned by one character.
When learned, each rocket mount counts toward the Mountain 'o Mounts achievement (Horde or Alliance).

If you're wondering why this is considered a PTR item, look at the UI-- it's not BoP anymore. All trading card mounts (except the Riding Turtle) will now be sellable across trade and the AH. But trust me- don't be surprised if they sell for a whole lot of gold though. You've been warned.

Blizzard has announced that the "removal" of the BoP flag on most TCG mounts is intended and expected to go live ( Blue Post ):

In the upcoming content patch 3.2, Call of the Crusade, we are changing the Upper Deck Trading Card Game mounts to be Bind-on-Use instead of Bind-on-Pickup. This will allow players to sell newly redeemed TCG mounts in-game through the trade window, Auction House or via CoD. The primary goal behind this change is to help reduce the number of players who are getting scammed by trading for an invalid mount code. As part of this update, the NPC vendor functionality currently in place for these mounts will be removed, and instead the mount (both epic and non-epic when applicable), will now be immediately placed in your inventory upon the verified redemption of the code. If you have already redeemed one of these codes and have not purchased both the epic and non-epic versions from the vendor window, it's important that you do so before the patch is released.

This update will affect the Spectral Tiger, Swift Spectral Tiger, X-51 Nether-Rocket, X-51 Nether-Rocket X-TREME, Big Battle Bear, and Magic Rooster Egg. Items that were obtained before the patch will not be affected by this change and will continue to be soulbound to the character that purchased them.

They are not so much as removing the BoP flag as they are creating a new item without it.

Given how much these sell for in real-world money, I somehow doubt we'll see these being sold for gold, no matter how exorbitant a price. I think being able to trade them is meant for much more common loot card items. Though if someone does decide to sell these in-game, I'd love to see how much gold they ask for.

This is my favorite mount and is a blast when exploring thanks to its small size is great for getting into and out of buildings as well caves with out stepping foot on the ground.

Just saw a news story about the us airforce x51 plane. Its firrst unsupported flight was in may 201p, but its been in testing for a while. Guess that's where this things name comes from (: it goes 4000 mph btw lol, pretty sweet.

As of 4.0.1 you will be able to train all mounts to go 310% for 5000g (assuming you have trained 280% speed). Finally our rocket travels as it should!

As of patch 4.0.1 this mount is both a ground and flying mount. It works exactly the same as the Headless Horseman's Mount. Same goes for the X-51 Nether-Rocket.

Just some complementary information... this mount does not have a /mountspecial effect.

Other than the loot card itself, this will be obtainable with the Mists of Pandaria expansion pack through the Black Market Auction House. Be prepared to pay big for it!

This mounts has appeared once per month in my server (Ragnaros-US) in the BMAH, but seems that the ones who wins them (máximum bid i've seen is 1.5M), they sell it at the AH for that price. There's 2 bids in the AH (1.6M and 1.2M)

A quick piece of information.. If you buy this mount on the AH, it remains bind-on-use. It is NOT soulbound. You can buy it, send it to another char, post it on the AH, sell it to someone else, etc.

Did anyone ever happen to see, way back in the day probably 2008/2009 or so around when this mount was released, a vid on YouTube with a female night elf (druid maybe?) going around stormwind showcasing a bunch of TCG items/pets, with this really carnival/circus-sounding song playing in the background (might sound like this or whatever https://youtu.be/jMPqrLJgmyE), then Jolly Roger's Lagoon from Banjo&Kazooie starts playing, she hearths to shattrath, and starts riding around on an x-51 nether-rocket (might've been the blue one? not sure). I've been looking for this vid for forever, and was wondering if anyone actually remembers it, had it saved, the URL, or something like that, etc.
